Deep Pass / Nayook Canyon - Newnes Plateau - Lithgow - Blue Mountains Canyoning - 4K

Deep Pass Canyon (Nayook Canyon) is an easy, beginner friendly canyon/creek walk located out on the Newnes Plateau, at Deep Pass.
The road to the main car park has been improved and upgraded and is suitable for a 2WD without issue, of course that can change after big rain.
This canyon can be done both ways, from Deep Pass and head upstream where you can either exit up to the car park, or, turn around and have twice the fun. Or, from the car park, follow the access track down to Nayook Creek and head downstream and exit via Deep Pass. This is the direction we are showing, downstream.
Now, we did say this is a beginner friendly canyon, there are still fixed ropes to negotiate and suspended logs to shimmy along. Watch the video, if you feel this is beyond you, that is ok. It is still up to you to decide if it is within your abilities and comfort zone!
This is a pretty creek walk with some nice, fairly open canyon sections, the water was quite warm when we were last here. There are plenty of great places for a dip, or a pool to jump into.
This is in a National Park, so please be respectful and leave no rubbish behind.
We hope you enjoy this video, we have done this canyon many times in both directions, it is a lot of fun to do.
If you liked this video on Deep Pass Canyon, please like it, make a comment and consider subscribing to my channel, I have plenty of videos coming up for canyoning and bush walking soon.

Hey! I’ve been watching all your videos convinced I knew you and yesterday it finally fell into place. Met through ABA many years ago with babies in tow! Love your videos, I’ve been thinking about trying canyoning but unsure about it so hence I stumbled across your videos as I live in the mountains and this was my search. Keep up the great videos!

Goodness! What a small world! Our babies sure have grown a bit since ABA days! I only began canyoning quite recently and love it! It's such an exciting sport and takes you to some of the most beautiful places. I'm.so glad you are enjoying the videos and hopefully they give you some inspiration! Have you seen the non-abseil canyon playlist? It may be a great starting point.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. For short rope sections, we don't usually wear gloves. Personal preference. We wear them abseiling and negotiating trackless bush, but for something like this, did not feel the need. Hope you continue to enjoy our videos.

Beautiful Canyon, thanks for showing! For accessing in a 2WD, would you recommend taking State Mine Gully Road from Lithgow, or Old Bells Line of Road from Clarence? I heard for a while after the bushfires Old Bells was in poor condition.

Hi, both roads turn into glow worm tunnel rd eventually and that is in very good condition, the road then out to the deep pass carpark has recently been upgraded for 2wd.

I did it in a 2WD some time ago, my car bottomed out on one of the hills on the Deep Pass road after dry weather, I wouldn't recommend it for 2WD unless it's been significantly improved. The Glow Worm tunnel road was devasted by the storms over the past years but has been fixed, that part should be OK. The other problem was simply finding the deep pass road, it was unmarked and there are lots of roads like it. (even if there is a sign it doesn't last long before it's burnt or someone runs off with it)

If you are relying on google maps, search "Deep Pass Campground Car Park" and that should get you to the main carpark where we started from.
