Hiking To The Bottom of Wentworth Falls

Wentworth Falls is located within the Blue Mountains National Park, New South Wales, Australia.
I started and finished this hike from Wentworth Falls Track Lookout - goo.gl/maps/FoXfAYSpL2tcj7tK9
In the Blue Mountains National Park you'll find several great walks, as well as opportunities for camping, swimming and fishing.

Proud to say I built the "steeper than they look" stairs/railings at 8:20 to 9:32. The Slack Stairs were wooden ladders before we replaced them in 1987. We carried out the old metal railings too! Contrary to the comment at the end of the video, the "Wentworth Pass" track travels around the base of the cliff line to the Valley of the Waters, where you can exit at the Conservation Hut. That's if BMNP get organised and get these and other classic tracks re-opened.

My siblings and I would spend holidays all over this area & down to Blackheath as kids. Parents were fine with us going off alone for adventures spanning many kilometers of track, with the cardinal rule being 'back before dark or else'. I did the Ruin Castle walk from the bottom of the Scenic Railway alone when I was maybe 11 or 12. Different times, different kids.

Nice video, and I am glad you didn't use a drone, unlike some other KZreadrs. Drones are banned from the Blue Mountains National Park. At 10:37 you say there are no other tracks at the bottom of the falls. This not quite correct. There are two - Hippocrene Falls track follows the creek downstream from the base of Wentworth Falls and eventually meets up with Vera Falls below the Valley of the Waters. The other is Wentworth Pass, which takes you to the Valley of the Waters just below Red Rock Falls. It was open when you filmed your video, but in April last year it was closed after a landslide, which tragically killed a father and his 9 year old son and severely injured his two daughters. Above it is National Pass but it has been closed since 2017 due to a fatal rockfall. I don't expect either to re-open any time soon, but the Hippocrene Falls track remains open. But yeh, to get back up you need to ascend the same route you came down.

@@edyhekul I appreciate your reply. I'd suggest Victoria Falls at Mt Victoria. It's of low to medium grade difficulty, easier if the path has been well maintained recently. The walk itself is interesting, but the surrounding scenery is outstanding. A very different walk is Berghofer's Pass, one of the early roads descending to the Hartley Valley. It does face Victoria Pass across the valley and so can be noisy
