Some tips about the trains. They are one class, so travelling upstairs is no more expensive than the bottom level - and the views are better. You get the best views by sitting on the left-hand side in each direction. On the journey to Katoomba, this lets you look into many of the valleys heading into the southern wilderness of the Mountains. On the journey home, you see Mt Hay, a mountain which ends the central ridge.

Man, you've done more for tourism to this part of the Sydney basin than any tourist glossy brochure I've seen. Well done!.
Now living in Cairns I previously resided for 16 years in Katoomba.This video brings back many memories,especially of that journey to and from Central station by train.!.I miss that unique mountain air.Thanks for posting.
For those spending a bit of time in Sydney the train trip west to the BM is a must do. The train trips north to Gosford and south to Wollongong or Kiama are every bit as brilliant and have some remarkable unique coastal / water scenery.
This is what I needed for my upcoming trip to Sydney, The Blue Mountains are in my list of things to do. What a great summary of how to do the trip, great tips! Thank you for sharing!
thanks mate. i love doing backpackers travel as well.. I learn even more and more gaining experience than usual..☺️🇦🇺

I went to Katoomba afew years back and loved it, got the tour bus to hop on and off on
Hey, I live there :D (And yep it's beautiful - and it's easy to escape the tourists once you know their patterns. I'm *very* lucky to live here)
Josh thanks, very comprehensive, shall do this hopefully in 3months time, cheers =)
Very enjoyable josh and excellent filming. Really good overview and definitely good value on the cityrail train 👍

It’s the BEST😂 🎉❤I love you australia
Sydney’s transport is the most busiest I think. Still nice journey.
I was wondering what to do in Sydney soon, problem solved...thanks great video
Beautiful video 8:19
Hey there, what tools do you used to do the video recording?
Great information, we are staying in Sydney from the 29 October for a week and planning on taking the train to the Blue Mountains, can 8 ask how long it took to walk from the station to the Blue Mountains?
@doubledee9675

The mountain range is called the Blue Mountains. I think you mean to the Jamison valley, much of which is shown in this video. The walk is a gentle half hour stroll.
Muruga muruga 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Is thete any app where i can get info about trains?
Hey there! Thank you for the video! Did you use your OPAL card to pay for the train to Blue Mountains or did you pay separately? Thank you in advance
@JoshGoesSlow

Hi, You can use opal or your contactless bank card to get to the blue mountains. The fare should be the same with both.
How many hours should I explore this place to take selfie pictures and videos of mine cause I’m solo traveler.I don’t want to be in hurry just want more time.

As of the current train timetable… yes it is. It takes just under 1hr 45mins.
Hi Josh, is it required to pre-book the train tix from Central Station to Katoomba Station to secure seats?
@JoshGoesSlow

No not at all. I’m fact you can’t. It’s part of the Sydney rail, just like any metro you just use an opal card or bank card and get on.

No. You actually can't book seats on the intercity services. Just tap on and off with opal. The blue mountains trains work just like the ones in Sydney (but less frequent, obviously). Unless you're travelling on a summer weekend at peak times you'll get a seat :) Bring snacks and drinks for the trains. It's quite a long journey and there's no catering on board at all - not even a water fountain.

As said before, you can't book. If you're staying in Sydney and going to Katoomba for a day trip, you'll be going in the opposite direction to the bulk of the traffic each way.

All above true, your nothing special as a tourist so no special trains either.

And no real need for them. The V set trains remain an extremely comfortable way of travelling. I've not been in a carriage built to the latest design, but would be surprised if they were as comfortable as a V class. With either design of trains (they're electric multiple units) no need to worry about strange roads, different road rules and so forth..@@Enochsrite
I drove from Brisbane to Katoomba. Never again 😂 I’d rather fly and train it.

@@JoshGoesSlow just the blue mountains for Christmas last year. Mum and dad are “working from anywhere” in a caravan, and they were based there during Christmas time.
How much all this cost together. Do you have to use all these transactions to carry on your hike?
