I like to get out and explore, hike, canyon, wild swim and more, these are videos of just some of my adventures. My videos don't just show the best bits, they are meant to show you the experience as a whole, the journey as well as the highlights.
Videos are usually released on a Friday night at 7.30pm. We try and release new videos weekly...
Videos with a title in YELLOW are Canyoning videos, PURPLE titles are Hiking videos.
Please keep in mind, whilst these are guides, they are "broad" guides, if you choose to undertake one of these adventures, please make sure you have the required experience and skill set. These are not for everybody, you need to make sure you can complete such an adventure, safely.
I hope you will consider subscribing, I am intending to continue to release content as often as I can...

I am looking forward to doing this. I will do as a reccy with a few people first. great video thanx for making it
It is quite the trip, not one for the inexperienced, offtrack navigation skills required. A great day out.
@@shoesonmyfeet6056 yes definitely understand it's not for hikers that are not experienced off track . It's rare to find me on track 😂
You will enjoy it, some mild challenges here and there, will be VERY cold down in there this time of year, and, more than likely, wet feet adding to the cold.
@@shoesonmyfeet6056 that's ok, not something I'll do mid winter 😂 you like the cold more than me
Nothing quite like frozen toes and feet....
Looks like a fun one. Nice and dark
The top section is very short with a nice abseil at the end. The lower section is deep, dark and tight in places, just superb.
A great video for the adventurous at heart, I’ve never really been like that, so I’ve missed out on a lot. Virtually is good enough for me. 🥾🧗♂️✅
Glad you liked it, continue to enjoy our adventures, not quite the same as being there though, but, close I guess. We appreciate your comments and support.
That was amazing! Looks like the deepest one I've seen you do so far.
Not sure it's the deepest one, but I think it would be one of the darkest and narrowest ones so far! It was very cool!
👍。
It's a great day walk and the views are spectacular!! No need to face the "concrete hill" now the road is back open ☺️
Do you need 4wd to reach the car park?
No, in dry conditions, and driving to the road conditions, a normal car is fine. After rain, the road will be a mess.
Best after a good rain!
Very much so!
Went there on Tuesday. Absolutely beautiful!👍
It is a wonderful place to visit, especially after rain.
where is 2wd car park spot? thank you. 20-25 mins return?
If you have a 2wd and the road is like usual and a bit dodgy, you would need to park just off the Old Bells Line Road where you turn off. This would add quite a few kms of fire trail walking.
@@shoesonmyfeet6056 ok, thank you.
Lovely to see the native flowers as your walking by. Stunning video as usual. 🥾🧗♂️🧑🦳
Thanks so much and yes, plenty of flowers out at that time of year.
I made a comment before, just keep coming back to this one, obviously my VERY FAVOURITE ❤️🥾🧗♂️
We have been through here a few times now, always a stunning canyon to do! Glad you like this one so much.
We went there it was so fun
Awesome, it is such a pretty spot. Did you explore upstream at all?
Proud to say I built that track (a crew of four of us) in 1991 and disappointed that the bridge we built has washed away...
Thanks for letting us know and being part of the crew who built the "new" track. When you built it, did you improve the original private tracks? Was there much left of the old wall that created the swimming pool at the base of Mabel Falls? Did your team install the handrail and BBQ above Edith Falls? Was the bridge that washed away between Mabel and Edith Falls? So many questions lol....
@@shoesonmyfeet6056 The tracks were not so much ‘private’… all crown land. The ones at the lower two falls (with the handrails) pre-dated the work we did by many years. They were maintained by BMCC maybe? although sporadically and minimally. In the 1990 era, BMNP was expanded to include many BMCC areas, the most notable being the cliff lines and escarpments of the Jamison Valley, however the funding for our job came directly from the MWSDB who hand responsibility for this land at the time. (T of V walk is in the Woodford dam catchment.) It’s hard to visualise now, but the upper track that we built (note: hardwood steps) was placed over a fire trail which we rehabilitated - you could drive to within a few meters of the upper (Mabel) falls along what is now the walking track alignment.
@@shoesonmyfeet6056 The bridge of which I speak was about 200m below Mabel falls and was made of Uni-strut. The crossing now steps down to creek level and all of the metal has been removed. The dam below the falls (interesting sandstone blocks) was similar in 1990 as it is today. The original dam would be 100 years old I reckon.
What shoes do you recommend using these days? I used to use wetsuit booties and rubber soled Dunlop volleys. But they don't make them anymore.... love to hear your suggestion
They still make volleys, but, not like they used to be and no real support. We both love our bestard canyon boots, so much grip, so much support, for us, the ultimate canyon boot.
Thanks. Yep, they do, but not rubber soles, so aren't as solid on slippery rocks. Thanks for the suggestion. Will look them up.
Thanks for the advice and quick response. Pushing your channel. Love it!
We both started in volleys, they stopped making large sizes, so that stopped my partner from canyoning. When we discovered bestards, we could not believe how good they were, seriously, sometimes too grippy when trying to slide down a rock. But, they give you a lot of confidence when walking on most surfaces. Slimy rocks will always be like ice skating. On the walk in and out, very supportive. Certainly not the cheapest, but, these are specialist boots designed for one purpose, and for that, they excel. Glad you like the channel, we have more canyons coming up over winter.
Love your channel!!! Thanks for the shoe advice.
Its good to see that money has been spent to upgrade the National Park, and thanks for another great vid and the same info you provide for each video. Take care Ian.
The upgrades ro these tracks and linking them for suh a grand walk sure is great! The views all along this one are spectacular!
I can imagine the effort to plan and execute these walks you do for us and the notes on individual trips to keep people safe. Can you do an equipment video of what you use please. Spectacular as usual. Take care Ian.
Thanks Ian, planning takes time, but the executing take waaaay longer than usual. If a canyon takes most people 5 hours, count on 7-8 for us. Things don't always go to plan, waiting for other people, trying to get water out of microphones, reshooting the same things because you find a better angle. It goes on. We have discussed a gear we take type of video, and it is still something we want to do, sometime this winter or early spring. Keep enjoying our videos and we will keep on making them.
After my short visit to Oz in transit to Vanuatu, I wish I had been born there as just a couple of days I saw how friendly the Ozzie's are. Once again beautiful video. Take care. Ian
Thank you so much! We aim to showcase some of the beautiful places Australia has to offer, and we are very glad you enjoyed the video. Now you have e en more reason to come back to Oz and explore!
Thats the way to do it get away from the walking tracks and enjoy what others miss. I did a similar down a small stream with my brother in Vanuatu in 1995 and really enjoyed it. One day I might get to do your same walk. Take Care. Ian
Not a fan of crowds, it was tough filming the Grand Cliff Top Walk with just so many people. Give us the peace and solitude of the bush or a canyon anyway.
Such a magic spot. I am so disappointed with the recent graffiti.
Agreed, I did notice a large "artwork" had been removed behind the falls, but a smaller one is near the picnic table now.
I live on Wood/Glenview St and I still haven't gone all the way to the waterfall - I will now though. We did go half way down after rain and wearing Nike's and well, you can guess why we turned back.
After rain this could be a very slippery walk. I got caught in a thunderstorm a few years ago on the walk out, making for an interesting, slippery walk out. Let us know once you have been and what you thought.
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing with us.
You are very welcome, it is a beautiful spot to visit, and, pretty easy to get to.
Pity about all the graffiti around the place
Agreed, it has gotten much worse since our last visit. Still, at the end of the day, still a nice place to visit and take some lunch.
You are one lucky lady to experience all this. Thank you for the time in showing us all the many wonders in our national parks.🥾🌹
Thankyou Sandra, up until a few years ago, I had never set foot in places such as these, now, I get to experience and explore them regularly. Plus, I get to share them with so many people, so that makes me doubly happy.
Very beautiful and special place. Are canyons mostly all running with water, e.g I went to Fitzroy Falls I thought it would always be flowing, but alas this time it wasn’t due to drought. Your videos are all high class. 🥾🧑🦳⭐️
Not all are wet, some are dry and some are semi-wet. All depends on how much rain we have had. The dry canyon on the way to the Glow Worm Tunnel is a dry canyon and basically suitable for any able-bodied walker. Even good for children with care, one to put on your list perhaps?
Wow a very impressive Canyon, lots of jumps. Just like a big kid having a lot of fun.🧗♂️🧑🦳✅
It can be a lot of fun, but, like any canyon, still needs to be treated with respect. It was not long after this was filmed that a canyoner broke her leg in here and had to hobble out.
Yes I fully understand that proceed with caution. 🥾🧗♂️🧑🦳
Everytime. My partner is still recovering from his canyoning accident. Foot will never be the same.
Weird watching a KZread video of “my” back yard. Rarely will you walk down the trail without passing a local. There’s a few things missed in this very brief video so be sure to keep your eyes wide open to spot all the relics.
You have an impressive backyard, our videos are long enough to give you an idea of what to expect, and we do say a few times there is plenty to see and we don't show it all. I believe we do mention that there is more to see. We filmed a number of other items, but would rather let people discover these themselves. Hope you enjoy our other videos and perhaps we encourage you to visit other places in the future.
@@shoesonmyfeet6056 yep, just reiterating what you had said in case viewers dismiss it as a passing remark 👍
100%, if you go for a good wander, there is still more to see, but, sadly fire claimed what was left of the mill long ago. Would have been an amazing sight the effort they went to to put in that railway.
@@shoesonmyfeet6056 relics from the railway also exist at the top of the ridge & as soon as you arrive near the creek. There is apparently some on the descent too but I’ve not found those yet.
We looked for winding house foundations but were unable to find them on that visit. Plus, it started to rain so we wanted to get out of the valley a little dry. We will go back and have a further look around.
Your videos are very meditative and full of wonder, amazing beautiful.🧑🦳✅🧗♂️
Thanks so much, you keep watching and we will keep making them.
Absolutely stunning area, how lucky am I that I can go with you. 🥾🧗♂️🦋🌹we really have Gods country.
So glad you came along "virtually" with us, hopefully you will enjoy some of our other videos just as much. We are so lucky to have such hidden places so close to Sydney.
National parks done a great job there by the looks of it. Its amazing how they built that railway when they did and im sure it was quick as well. Thanks for the video i need to visit again 👍
For sure, national parks have done such a good job here, hopefully people respect it when they visit. Get out there early and enjoy.
Hi, great video. I’m looking head there this week. How much time would u allow to do the hike? Thanks.😊
Glad you liked the video. Firstly I would check these tracks are open, they may be closed. I would allow 3-5 hours as a comfortable time, it may be less, it may be more. Just don't rush and enjoy.
Thanks for the video. Just wondering what bradlnd of hiking boot you use, and whether you have any thoughts/suggestions in relation to different brands. Thanks
We both wear Scarpa brand hiking boots, hard wearing but like ice skates on anything wet. Basically anything in your budget, that is comfortable is all you need. Scarpa has not been without issues, one pair the sole keeps delaminating and the other the stitching has failed in the same place on both boots. We may look at other brands in the future.
Awesome!👍 Been there a few times, but not since the upgrades. I’ll be sure to check it out.
Worth the drive, we love the improvements that have been made.
it was a good place to go 40 years ago , it was a real adventure ,too touristy now and too many people
Yes, have been coming here for about the same amount of years, yes, it gets very busy, we went early to dodge the crowds.
Seems like a very special and beautiful spot, A1 again as always. 🦋✅
An amazing spot to visit, one to put on the list. Glad you enjoyed it.
Nice to see all the work they have done out there. I personally haven't been yet but it is on the list. It really looks like a magical walk and to see the glow worms would be amazing.
They really have improved the area immensely, 2 thumbs up from us for sure. Get out there and enjoy it when you do!
@@shoesonmyfeet6056 Hopefully it wont be too long. Im really keen for some trips out that way, camping, hiking etc.
Winter is a great time to camp out on the Plateau, if you are prepared and used to cold camping. If it is not windy, the days are stunning in the colder months.
@@shoesonmyfeet6056 Yeah I'm not all that big on cold weather camping although I am hoping to do a little more of it this year.
Be prepared for the cold and you will be fine. It can get well into the sub zeros out on the Plateau in winter, did not reach that low June long weekend, was mild.
Thanks for sharing the clips, to be honest I kind of regret not visiting it before the upgrades 😅 The concrete pathway inside the tunnel looks really bad 🤦♂
The new pathway is much safer, and it means that people now have more stable footing and aren't calling out, disturbing the glow-worms, every time they tread on a rock or in water. They new path only takes up half the tunnel, so the original path can still be viewed for the construction marvel this tunnel is.
@@shoesonmyfeet6056 ok in that case it makes sense, hopefully the glow worms were not disturbed while they were constructing this path as there was most likely lots of noise inside the tunnel during that time
I am sure NPWS did a study into the impact during construction. Having said that, a lot of the work was done in the cooler months, so less glow worms than summer. The path does make it more enjoyable, the handrail especially, you can lean up against it, turn your torch out and let the total darkness take over. The glow worms will start to appear quickly as your eyes adjust. We give the upgrade the thumbs up for this reason.
The Best Video Yet! 👍I also have been to some abandoned railway tunnels like there one I went to near this one called “Marrangaroo Tunnel” but thats on private property.
Thanks! It's such a great piece of history, and the upgrades to the track sure have made this walk much more accessible! Tunnels are always fun to explore and always have a story to tell!
Wonderful video. Thanks for sharing. 👍1
Thanks so much, glad you liked it.
Amazing, how long does it takes from you? And how you can back to your car from the point where you started?
Glad you liked it, it took us almost 10 hours with filming and visiting lots of lookouts. We took 2 cars. You can train back from Katoomba to twenty falls station and then less than 10 minutes walk to car.
Nice i was waiting for those to open up again. The horseshoe falls have been great at night, but good to have options.
The improvements are quite good, the raised walking track through the tunnel has made it easier and safer. Can get very busy though.
It's interesting to think of the old steam locomotives that used to travel through there hauling shale oil. Definitely more peaceful, and green, now.
It sure is a fabulous piece of history. Amazing to think of all they did to construct this railway. It's definitely a much more peaceful place to visit now....if you get there before the crowds!
Great video. I never knew that was there, nor did I know there was even a track. Thanks for showing us this!
Thanks Josh, glad you liked it, might be time to go visit perhaps?
Inspiring!
Thanks so much, if you do the walk, hope you enjoy it
Great video. We did happy Valley last week and your video is encouraging to go back and explore the other trail. I wonder if this creek somehow leads or links to the Waterfall walk on the other end of Mt Wilson (that ones a loop but the water kept flowing down stream and quite beautiful and secluded). Awesome video
Hi Sue, thanks for your comments, this is all the same creek system, a very pretty creek system, so green and stunning.
Looks as though your the only one of the planet at times. Very beautiful canyon. 🧑🦳🦋
At times, when there is nobody else in the canyon, it feels like we are the only people around, when we did a certain other canyon, a large group was near us and they made a hell of a racket, 100% of the time. Meant a lot of the "sound of the canyon" had to be replaced.
