Deep Cleaning Every Part Of A PlayStation 4 | Deep Cleaned | Insider

Luis Maria, the owner of Lucky Repairs, shows us how to clean and repair a dust-clogged PlayStation 4. He cleans it by disassembling it piece by piece, detailing every crevice. Over the years and with frequent use, the inside of a PlayStation can collect layers of dust. This dust can restrict essential airflow that is essential to cool the system down while it's running a powerful game.

I literally followed you step by step, I was so scared but I took the time. Cleaned everything so well and my ps4 is quiet and looking brand new ! Thank you so much ! Noob tips: -Buy thermal paste before you start. -Take your time, it took me 3 full hours, I went uber slow. -Be gentle, no need to force anything. -Use different bowls to put your screws in for your different stages. -Missing a screw will not be the end of the world, dont panic. - A tiny automatic screwdriver is a treat, but make sure its not powerful.

@@haroldinodeleonskie1578 No, but it's VERY important. When making the laptop, the manufacturers use very cheap thermal paste, which dries up very quickly and creates an air pocket between the paste and the CPU, which can lead to the CPU overheating.

I open my consoles and give them a quick brush out once a year. Mine don't get very dusty anyway, but it's a preventative measure. I'll replace the paste on older consoles I buy secondhand, or if my own are over 3 years old.

If you live in an area prone to insect infestations I recommend you clean the inside of of consuls regularly. Even if you keep your home cleaned religiously bugs are going to get inside. Roaches in particular love game consuls and the machines themselves are unintentionally effective roach motels.

Post-apocalyptic PS4. Never had problems with my PS4, but my PS5 begun shutting off on its own. So I opened and cleaned it, the dust was minimal and there was some clogging on the radiator blades, so I blew that away, got some fans for the back to suck air out faster, and now it doesn't turn off. PS5s are pretty sensitive to dust and debry. They are on the edge of overheating when playing big PS5 titles, so it is a delicate balance.

@@dericjames2018 With the fans on the back the exhaust doesn't go over 60°C which seems to be the red zone. I have a thermo probe on the exhaust since day-1 (I use to have it on the PS4) just because. And it ended helping me understand the red signals when my PS5 was about to go off hard. If the air where the cables connect is over 60 degrees for over 20 minutes or keeps rising it will go off any moment. With the light cleaning and the fans pulling the hot air out now it doesn't go over 55°C even during hot days and very long play sessions. PS4 games never push it over 45 during 32°C days.

from my experience, i simply separate screws by its characteristic. I may have at least two small containers for 1. big-black-long (hmm everything reminds me of him) and 2. small-short-white/silver. Then map screw position in 3D space. Instead disassemble it quickly, examine and understand how and why part are joint together. 'does long screw a part that have cavity.?' does bigger screws are meant to support structure'. You should have been more specific on what cables to remove and how to do so. I had to use another tutorial to access and remove the motherboard.

Hopefully one day the console will be equipped with an air filter feature that is easy to disassemble and clean. because PS5 and Xbox currently have the same problem

@kamal akioud Some consoles can actually be pretty clean even owner have not never opened them. I have not never open mine but i have used vacuum cleaner and canned air together to try to suck any dust out of there.

Like wise, I've had mine since about a month-ish after Bloodborne (early 2014) came out, I've not cleaned the inside of it and honestly I'm scared to take it apart.

This is how you refurbished a video game system. DKOldies better be taking notes but they won’t unfortunately. This is how it’s done.

Me, watching this while cleaning my keyboard (turning it upside down and smacking it on my desk a few times before shaking it violently for a minute): fascinating.

ok so i've done this thoroughly about 3 times in one year and my fan still takes off when i play games like fortnite. Ive tried different thermal paste like MX4 to MX6. ive changed out the thermal pads and hasn't gotten any better. Any thoughts? I also did upgrade to an SSD harddrive but those come incased and are supposed to run better and cooler
