Exactly. Charitable work doesn’t renew their mindsets. And spiritually speaking, it’s the same as people saying “I’m a good person so I’m going to heaven” but forget that they’ve sinned also

At this point we've lost way too many rappers, off of this violence that is becoming way more dangerous than just entertainment. It's sad to see how violent each Hip Hop generation has become. We really need to wake up to the lyrics that we're spewing. Words have power, and we need to take accountability for those words that have caused serious harm to just more than the black communities.

Man your content and perspective is so refreshing. I'm not even trying to nut-hug or nun'. This shit is a breath of fresh air.💯 Note/Edit: Also wanna add (maybe I'm inaccurate, so correct me if I'm wrong), Dee-1 was a teacher at one point in his life. So he ,as a result of that, holds himself, and people who have a certain level of authority, to a higher standard and with no hesitation at all. So it's no surprise he would speak on something like this. And this ain't his first time either. Check out the "Psalms of David" series.

Unfortunately the truth is this behavior has nothing to do with the record business. This behavior comes from the imbedded insecurities and self hatred of our urban youth. Particularly the young men as it often manifests itself as violence. Until we acknowledge the truth about ourselves there will be no solution.

It makes you very emotionally intelligent.. because we are dealing with huge egos, if you fart wrong people can put some stacks on yo head. Back in the day, Soulja boys reaction wud have escalated things to serious beef. But as grown as he is, he's still young in the mind , that's a recipe for disaster if he don't grow up quick.

There’s Christian rap there’s conscious rap there’s gangster rap, there’s hick hop rap, alternative rap there was all kinds of rap music, and I’m sure if you listen close enough, they all contradict their selves.. people have lost their lives in all genres of music.. Dimebag Darrell shot and killed Selena shot and killed Marvin Gaye. The list goes on.. instead of blaming rap artist, for what’s wrong in the world.. we need to look at parenting. We need to look at the drug problem. We need to look at mental health issues it’s not the music.

Wisdom does not automatically come with age if you never learn to challenge your ways of thinking. Someone who is 50 years old can still have the mind of a 16-18 year old due too not continually working on themself. I feel our society programs us to think and act in certain ways and many people live their entire life without challenging that programming. I’d recommend to anyone wanting to get a better understanding of how we think and how your mind works to read the book called “The four Agreements” by Miguel Ruiz. I pray as a culture we all can mature and cultivate a positive environment for everyone to prosper young and old!!!! 💯💯

These artists frequently express their life in their community through rapping and singing. However, many do not reciprocate the support from their community members, who often contribute significantly to their success. While some claim to contribute to charity, such charities fail to directly reach their own community. Occasionally, it is important to use your hands to give back to your own community.

I just wonder why we don't hold everyone else besides rappers to these kind of standards . in the sense of the subject matter of their art and taking blame for direct influence over the masses. Country music , rock and roll , RNB all have questionable subject matter as well but they be supporting they own and get a pass. as well as movie writers and film directors. Which i feel has way more influence or power. maybe its context of what we are involved in and dont see it. But i honestly hate seeing these kinda debates and spats publicly... we go after the artists but its labels and consumers thas out here putting money up for this kinda content. its not Rick Ross or Dee 1's job to raise the world.... its nice if they want to help but judging what someone else is doing vs just focusing on what you're doing is not the wave to me. and even if you wanted to get ross and whomever you mentioned involved in a positive way the approach was wrong. and no matter your intention of what you said if you didnt consider how it would be taken on the receivers end thats just poor communication skills.... hit me direct if you really talking on my name like that.

I concur with everything you said and would like to add that Dee 1 didn't criticize meek mill, he tried to make an example of him. You can challenge a man by calling him out. However, i believe that Dee 1 meant to challenge their hearts, and the way you challenge a man's heart is by example. Not calling him out. If you understand life at the ground level of math/science, you know that there is 50% positive and 50% negative. Same applies to lyrical content in all entertainment genres. You'd have to be an absolute madman to think you can demolish one or the other. Question for the audience: when are we going to start holding the listener accountable for their actions? Meek mill, Rick ross and Jim jones should only be held responsible for their households regardless of their art and coummilunity actions. I vid you all good day and leave you with this "I am not a role model" - Charles Barkley

I totally agree with the Dee 1 take. But the Soulja Boy take not so much because what Cole did was a backhanded compliment! At that point it’s on a person to react how he / or she wants to react to it. Like we gotta be honest and just admit Soulja never FULLY gotta his props. Or better yet gotten HATE from some of everybody when he made party music for HS - College Kids! So once understanding those factors Big Draco probably tired of it. As he said in the full live “Everyone can’t be or rap like Jay Z” 🥱 Ironically Soulja Boy was closer to Dee 1’s message about making positive music versus to shoot ‘em up bang bang Drill rap

I definitely feel like these grown men rappers should be held accountable for the decisions they make that affect others, but the LABELS are totally responsible as massively powerful entities for cultivating these environments over the course of decades. A lot big Rappers don’t take constructive criticism very lightly especially Ross. Now how many drug dealers can we name that sold tons of drugs but also gave away shit to the people they sold drugs to. Ross thinks cuz he buys people shit it’s suppose to right all his wrongs. I stand wit Dee-1. I tapped in to his vibe years ago. How dare Ross say he’s a basket head. Ross bald head ass don’t know that’s knowledge in that basket. Dee-1 is right they say all this gun violence shit in their songs but then act like they done grown up. If Ross took offense to what Dee was at in that means he’s still immature in some aspect. Just cuz he’s 47 don’t means he’s mature in all aspects.
