When did collaborations become a necessity in an age of technology where one person can do everything?!? I think of each collaborator having their own shade of color, when you get more than 3 to 5 more collaborators - the sum of all the colors become bland and opaque - where everyone sounds like everyone else. But that’s where the money is and you get what you get- very slow progress of the evolution of music. It’s forced brainwashing that collaboration is a necessity. There was a time when you had way more unique music in every genre when there was 3 or less collaborators per song. Often the most memorable songs had one songwriter.

That's crazy. That's why i sample myself from old songs that i did. Im from Texas so on my screwed and chopped hooks or bridges i just sample myself and screw and chop it for a new song if need be. Are you doing music because you truly love it and want to connect with people (and have a successful business in the process) or are you doing music for the vanity metics, fake personas, or because you are trying to "fit in" to certain circles in the music game? Music fans should be asking themselves the same questions. Peace!
Honestly, I think that too many independent artists care more about the reception of what other people think rather than what they themselves think. Personally, I don't give a shit about the reception potentially received for a song I release, because I'm happy that I even accomplished making a song in the first place. If I'm my only fan, then so be it, I'll continue making the music I like.
