@biglahtherealbiglah3988 that doesn't make his statement wrong. Lloyd makes classics. However, he knows that he doesn't have the brand power to maintain mainstream success. Therefore, recouping his value will be tough. I'm buying it just for nostalgia and because it'll become an instant collectors album.

Maybe McDonald's should charge $100 for a happy meal? Maybe the *Dollar Store* should charge $100 for a bag of chips? Maybe they should charge $100 for a gallon of gas? Well.....I think they do that already lol Look, its not the consumer's job to make sure the artist is living comfortably, you charge a fair price for your product, I like it, I buy it - that's that! Plus what's the justification for changing $100? Did you record your vocalz with an invisible microphone? Did you live with a family of monkeys that produced all your beats? Next this dude will be charging $10k for one concert ticket!!! I know his name is *Banks* but I wouldn't dare spend $100 for anybody making music today!

But there is the case of something being to expensive; example if I created a soft drink and marketed it as a coke a cola competitor and coke cans cost $2 bucks but my soda cost $200 my drink would be too expensive for the market I'm in! I get the thought process of younger millies and gen z’s because it’s all they have known; meaning DSP’s. But as someone who has bought tapes, CD’s, vinyl, and mp3s, you will pay for what you want. Anyone that says something is too much, that’s bs because people justify spending their money on what they want. Companies understand this and they continue to sell products to consumers at a price they set. Trust this, you can’t go into a business and name your price..they tell you the price, and either you pay or someone else will.

@@PoetSupremeSINY Although I greatly respect your opinion, I'm not sure if I can agree with such a cynical perspective. Could it be as simple as doing the due dilligence to identify your audience and strategizing a solid marketing plan based on a short run of physical product? Is it possible for a serious independent Boom Bap artist to do whatever it will take like perorm at coffee shops, book stores, supermarket parking lots, neighborhood art walks, block parties, and local music festivals, like how the Rock, Americana, Shoegaze, Punk, Country, Jazz, and Folk artists do? Maybe more Rap artists and Beatmakers need to stop making excuses and come off their high horses and busk their art directly to the people. In the 90's rappers sold their music out the trunk of their cars. DJ's sold their mix tapes in the park straight out their Jansport while on foot or bicycle. Thanks, Curtiss! Valuable information. In my opinion, music is such a downplay compared to other products or professions, maybe too, because there's so much of it some people forget its value. As artists or consumers, some believe music is not worth being a high-ticket product to the point where free is an option. But iPhones, Cars, Cigarettes, Coke, etc., continue to have buyers even if prices go up or it's terrible for your health (the power of branding and marketing). Music should be as crucial as anything else.

I am not a fan of Lloyd Banks, but if it makes sense I will buy the album even if it was a hundred bucks. Like if it had like at minimum 25 songs or if he had music videos included. I'll have no issue because that would be what dollars per song and then he's selling it directly so he gets the full profit it's not like with back when we were buying CDs he was only getting a certain percentage. But if it only has like 8 to 10 tracks on it and it's a hundred bucks I don't know if I'm going to be cool with that, and then it's like I got a hope all 10 of those songs are like bangers to the point I want to play them often. So it's not an issue with the price my issue is that I hope the number of songs or what comes with the album is worth it

Why it gotta jump to a 100 dollars when it's directly? Seems like if he sold it at 30, directly from him, he manages the packaging, mailing it, all that, he'd still make vastly, vastly more for the mixtape than what is currently. There’s nothing wrong with what banks is doing. Folks will pay 100+ to see an artist perform the same songs 1 time that u wouldn’t pay $100 to own forever and listen to whenever you want? Music is severely undervalued. But it’s u devalues because artist themselves don’t value it. You’re only as valuable as you think you are. If that man wants to charge $1000 for his album, if someone wants to hear it bad enough they will pay that price. This isn’t some sign for artists to price their fans out of the market, just don’t undervalue yourself. No one can tell me a Lloyd banks album isn’t worth $100. Even if you personally wouldn’t pay it doesn’t mean it’s not worth that. It’s time for artists to take back control of their art. It’s not worth fractions of a penny per play no matter who you are. You’re worth more than that

The album might be the best to an artist which all albums the artist make should be. But do not force it down the fans, let them decide on their own. Do not punish them. For me I see more greed than love of the art. It's not a good move but a get rich quick scheme. I still go with LaRussell's advice. Let the people decide. Cause once you price it yourself, it defeat the purpose of it being priceless. That is all I can say. Cause what is a hundred dollars on a bad economy. You can not price things like that. Be REAL, this is worse than the record labels and only caters for a few, just when we thought art was for change and a revolution. Love Banks bein a fan. Wont mind paying whatever, but it should be up to me as a fan and no offends.

Will be pay taxes on that? Will he receive royalties from that album? I hope he does well. I'm not a Banks fan, so I'm opting out of this one.

What if movies started charging $500 or more for a DVD? How many of us would buy movies monthly? They spend way more for their art and movies like $20. 🧐

I don't think movies would exist anywhere but big ticket festivals if that was the case. Video games are in the same boat. Astronomical costs involved. That said, Disney or Rockstar aren't exactly independent artists.

If is really good and sonically amazing plus not too much profanity he might sell 10k copies, I know Ye can sell 100k+ copies first week if he does the same given he brings that uppercut Kanye sound of wonders
