This is a game you need to be showed how to play, rather than try and read the rules. Great explanation. Very simple once you know.

I just bought the game and I felt the same exact way. Was scratching my head with 3 others for an hour and decided to go to youtube. Basically 10 minutes and we were golden.
Another wonderful, clear, and educational video. Thank you so much for making it easy to both help in choosing which games to buy and how to quickly get them to the table. Much appreciated.

Great video. One of my favorite new games. I love it none, but when I was researching it before buying, I had a hard time finding good rules overviews of it. I am glad people looking to get this game will now have a clear and concise video.

Or Captain Sonar....or Captain Sonar is "Decrypto meets Battleship"? Though one...
A clever game.
At 6:00, shouldn't the Black team's encryptor have written 3.1.2, as indicated on the code card, instead of 3.2.1? I get that 3.1.2 is probably correct given the clues, but that's not the sequence the Black team's encryptor was given.
@WatchItPlayed
5 жыл бұрын
Yes. Good catch.
i see you're using some Bic mechanical pencils there. does the game come with something to write with? or do you need to supply your own? i'd be shocked if those Bic's came with the game.
@WatchItPlayed
6 жыл бұрын
The game doesn't come with pencils, you'll need to supply some when playing - or keep a couple in the box.
Theoretically can't you try and guess the enemy team's code? So in that case there's a tiny chance you get an interceptor token on round one. Or is that forbidden by the game's rules?
@WatchItPlayed
2 жыл бұрын
It's in the rules.
I just want to know , the order of guesses? In exemple: Its white team turn , the 3 clues are called. Now the two teams got to guess what is the combination at the same time? Because in doing so the other team could just copy what the black team said and vice-versa?
@WatchItPlayed

Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for. If there is a specific section that is unclear, provide a time stamp and the part you are unsure about.
@cakemakenavantiya
3 жыл бұрын
Both the teams have to write it down before anyone makes a guess, so they won't be able to copy unless they are able to secretly erase and rewrite a different number, which is cheating.
@desjPol

@@cakemakenavantiya that makes a lot of sense ! Thanks a lot
Hey Rdney! Do you recommend it as a 4 member family game? Thank you!
@WatchItPlayed
4 жыл бұрын
Hey Manos, I tend to avoid reviewing or recommending, because every gamer is going to have their own likes and dislikes. What works for one family of 4 might not work with another. I prefer to just show how the game is played and hopefully that gives you some insight into whether it would be a good fit for your family and their tastes.

@@WatchItPlayed Thank you very much for your kind reply :)
i dont understand what you mean by putting the clues in the right order and what does it mean " guess the clues" the actual words or numbers? sorry for sounding dumb...
@WatchItPlayed
5 жыл бұрын
You don't sound dumb! Some concepts can be hard to get at first. To help know how to answer your question, I'd need to give me the time stamps for the points where you're uncertain.
I finally understood how to play this game! The rulebook doesn’t help at all. Thank you!
@WatchItPlayed

So glad this was helpful!
I’m surprised that sentences/humming/pantomiming is allowed, instead of single word clues. After all, how would one cram an entire sentence onto a gamesheet for either side? Or a hum/miming action, for that matter? Doesn’t the very game mechanics as described functionally limit teams to just giving one-word clues?
@WatchItPlayed
4 жыл бұрын
That's a tough thing for me to answer, since I'm not involved with the game's design. I think most people in practice will stick to shorter clues, but the rules allow other options, so that is why it is explained that way here.
@vimalmurthy3665
4 жыл бұрын
@@WatchItPlayed thanks for your prompt response. I think you can see though that it may very well be best to stick to 1-word clues. Thanks again!
@WatchItPlayed
4 жыл бұрын
@@vimalmurthy3665 We've had fun with longer clues, or sounds, etc - but certainly play it however you find the most fun!
One thing not clear. How does opponent team know which of the words to transpose to the lower part of the page. Ie at 7:54, there is only one transposed word for the first red_window of the white team even though two rounds have been played. My question is... who tells who what and when about right or wrong on the digits of the code? How much "correct/incorrect" information does each team receive?
@WatchItPlayed
4 жыл бұрын
Both teams are told what the right value should have been for each clue given. You'll see an example of this here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZHh2yZmTYpDWgZc.html Hope that helps!
Does your team see the four words?

Why are there so many producers here? It's like several screens full of names... what do these people do?
@jamest4942

hugesinker Rodney is actually a CG character and all the producers are actually 3D effects artists. Jk, we’re Indiegogo backers of the show, and we get early access to videos to check them for errors, etc.
@WatchItPlayed

Yep, as JT said, I get to work on the show as much as I do thanks to the people who donate during our yearly fundraisers. At a certain level you get your name in the credits. They are quite literally ensuring the videos get produced!
The timer actually ruins the game completely... the beauty of Decrypto is in allowing the encryptor zero time restraints so they can come up with precisely the right concoction of clues that are just obvious enough for their teammates but not obvious at all for their opponents... and my god finding that alchemical genius takes time. A LOT of time. This game is like a good shiraz. It needs to breathe... Only then does it truly shine, and shine, it does.
@WatchItPlayed

Thanks for checking out the video! Using the timer is optional in the rules, so it makes sense if you and your group prefer the game without it!
@willstanton5945

What do you prefer when you play?
@WatchItPlayed
6 жыл бұрын
I prefer to use it, but I like a certain amount of tension in the process and prefer my party style games to go a little faster, rather than be drawn out by one team that is taking significantly longer than the other, BUT, that's my personal preference. By all means, whatever makes the game more enjoyable to your group, is how you should play it. I tend to disagree with unilateral statements like "the timer ruins the game completely". I suspect what you mean is "it ruins it for 'you'". Things like this are why I leave out all review or opinion type comments in our videos. It comes down to personal preference and everyone is different.
