Decorating Wargaming Buildings: Internal Decoration (Part 1 of 3)

Ойындар

In part one of this three part series, I will decorating the inside of six of my 3D printed buildings, including my Cafe de Normandie. This week I will be wall papering, painting and fitting skirting boards. In the second episode next week, we’ll be turning our attention to decorating the outside of the buildings. Then finally in part three, we will look at adding furniture, decorations, damage and weathering them.

I absolutely do this for my WW2 builds. Wallpapers, floors, baseboards and wainscoting. Like you say, it adds so much to the buildings.

Thanks for watching, it only seems logical to me given how much detail we put into the Bolt Action figures themselves. Thanks for letting me know that I’m not alone in wall papering my buildings😂

I make up toy soldier sets to give away and adding interior detailing is always commented on, I had to make an extra undamaged cottage for one lady to use as a mini (20mm) dolls house. You can cut a ‘jacket’ from cig paper and fold it up to hang behind a door or cut a pair of jackboots as a pair of wellies by the door. Adding pictures on thin card with a ‘frame’ adds a lot of 3D, you can paint the card silver to make a mirror. I usually add a stove in the kitchen and sometimes make up pots and pans to hang on the wall. Sinks are difficult but I found some Plastruct square tubing, glue 20 thou card to the base and sand all the corners then glue to the wall, the taps are dress making pins with a spout from 3A fuse-wire wound around the stem and drenched in superglue. A few bits of furniture go down well, a couple of chairs and a table is enough. Wardrobes can be 5mm foam-core with a printed paper wrapper. My buildings are home made (I give them away), 2mm greyboard if the tops of the walls are not visible, 5mm foamcore if they are.

@@TheGreatMim I like your idea of leaving a border on the wallpaper to serve as a skirting board, nice work.

Great work, very impressive! To be truthful, if you are doing any skirmish game, this is ideal for it, to add that level of realism that you do not really need for mass battles.

Thanks mate, I wish I had been more organised as I just printed a load for stock and then never thought to save them, it’s a great idea though so whenever I next do it I’ll remember to keep the files this time for future use and for sharing.🙂

Hi, I ordered most of them from Battle Honours 3D, and won a voucher from Paint & Glue Miniatures to get the Dutch building. Only just got round to decorating them all. Thanks for watching😉
