Deconstructing Candida - A Root Cause Approach to Addressing Yeast Overgrowth

Ғылым және технология

Join Dr. Amy Rolfsen as she explains the functional medicine approach to managing the fungus, Candida. Candidiasis occurs as a result of a yeast overgrowth from the fungi, Candida. Patients suffering from yeast overgrowth suffer from a wide-array of systemic symptoms, including, but not limited to, bloating, yeast infections, brain fog, and gastrointestinal discomfort.
Dr. Rolfsen's presentation will help practitioners recognize and manage Candida infections in clinical practice. Watch this presentation to learn:
- How to use GI-MAP testing to evaluate yeast overgrowth
- About the role Candida plays in the microbiome
- The important link between H. pylori and Candida
- How to address chronic gut Candida infections
- Treatment considerations for managing yeast overgrowth, including the Candida diet

🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 RN here, learning everything I possibly can to attempt to treat myself! I’ve gone the FM route and it helped, but I need to be an active participant and understand the how and why of everything. I’ve discovered a lot on my own & have some good data from the FM Dr I saw, but 2 plus months of treatment with diflucan and nystatin helped but didn’t cure my case of candida. It’s a lot better, but if I eat wheat or sugar it comes right back with a vengeance. I had sores in my mouth after wheat the last 2 times. I finally realized I just can’t eat it at all. Also I finally got off the PPI so that helped a lot. Baby steps! This is the most informative and in-depth lecture I’ve heard thus far after YEARS (10 plus) of trying to cure myself. A lot of people talk about candida but don’t give actionable steps to help heal the gut, etc, and of course the mainstream docs just think it’s not a big problem! I always tell them that if it was them that had it they would KNOW it existed as a problem beyond just a little vaginal infection or full blown sepsis.

So True - I have mercury poisoning due to ingestion from my amalgam fillings being removed. And now I have candida explosion along with giardia in my gut. It is destroyed. And now I don't know if I need to chelate first to get rid of the mercury or try and fix a chronically-wrecked gut then chelate. So confused.

Candida and other yeast infections do not get resolved as long as there is mercury in the person’s system. Chelation that is based on ACC protocol ( never do iv or take glutathione) works in the long run to stabilise Candida whilst repeating the body from other aliments.

I have had candida for years. I only had relief for maybe 8 months on an incredibly strict diet which was miserable. It actually led to an eating disorder which took years to heal from. I didn't have any history of eating disorders at any time in my life until then and proves we can have an eating disorder at any age. I can't afford to restrict my diet to that level ever again. I avoid grains, eat a lot of dark green leafy veg. I avoid potatoes or anything too starchy. No overly sweet fruits but I do eat some berries. I do eat meats and good fats. I have tried many antifungals and a beneficial yeast which is meant to crowd out candida, I won't even attempt to spell it. It just gave me more symptoms and I had to stop. I still have candida and at this stage of having it for over 20 years I worry that I just have to live with it.

@tonyt8805 Yes, many things are caused by this candida overgrowth. Even high blood sugar. Look at Dr Berg's old videos about candida overgrowth and low stomach acid. I've been chelating mercury, doing gentle parasites cleanses, reducing body burden any way possible and slowly recovering. It sounds that Candida can only be truly normalized after the immune system is back online able to do its job properly.

Patients don’t FEEL GREAT… it’s day 75 for me and it’s still horrible. Telling physicians about the die off, aggravation seems very important. I don’t know a single person who’s gone through this that hasn’t struggled. So only exclaiming, “Your patients will FEEL GREAT!” feels fraudulent with the “eventually “ at the end.

You know, it’s very frustrating. Every video I watch tells me the same thing and I’d have to be a total imbecile not to know it by now. They say cut carbs and especially sugar. I already know that is what I need to do and if I was able to do that one thing I could go far in improving my health and killing off the candida. But my sugar cravings are so bad I would rather have a cage match with mad max then give up my sweets. My question is if I treat the symptoms and kill off some of the candida will it give me enough will power to give up sweets. I used to do low carb and I still do IM and I continue to lose weight slowly but I know I have candida overgrowth because I just did a urine test and is says so in big bright red letters CANDIDA. People who don’t have sugar cravings just don’t understand. So easy to just say give up sugar. And our live are such that who can be in bed by 11. Can you please give some insight. I really liked all the specific info.

oh my goodness, same boat here! I can will my way through it during the day, but for the past 10 months of my infection it has me waking up every 2 hours at night and I just give in. I feel so weak and powerless but it's like my entire body is screaming so loud that I cannot have a single rational thought! Sugar cravings and withdrawals are no joke. I was a smoker for 10 years and quit cold turkey, that was difficult, but nowhere near as challenging as beating sugar. The only thing that has worked for me is changing the story I'm telling myself in the moment, taking away the emotion/stress/shame of the craving. Basically giving myself a motivational pep talk, like I would to a friend going through the same thing. Good luck friend! You've got this!

  • @diagnosticsolutionslaboratory

    @diagnosticsolutionslaboratory

    Жыл бұрын

Hi, Thank you for your question. Here is the response from our Clinical Team: Candida is an organism that can be in the upper GI or elsewhere in the body. If it is in the colon/stool it will show up on GI-MAP. If it is in the body but not in the stool, it won't show up. Organic acid tests pick up metabolites for Candida and other fungi anywhere in the body.

I love how you note on candida’s intelligence. I believe this is what I have, I’ve been watching how it acts and they literally attack so to speak when clipping off areas close by. They jump out of the area clipped and seems to instantly grow back. They also seem to jump off and then cling to areas that anything else that size and shape wouldn’t. If you lightly touch it with anything it also jumps away, perhaps it has some static electricity in it. My nails and skin around nails and now palms are effected as well as toe nails and skin around them and bottoms of feet. I feel I have it inside my body also, I have increasing brain fog and vag yeast infection more than usual. I’m wondering if this also has anything to do with my body being in debilitating pain when I wake up. Sleep and being immobile brings on pain so bad I can’t turn my body. Arms are effected. The back is where it starts then the more I’m not moving in sleep it creeps up to high back from lower then arms and hands. My stomach is also bloated a lot, weight gain and can’t lose it at all. Thoughts?
