H pylori - From Diagnosis to Therapeutics

Based on a research study Dr. Kalish conducted with the Mayo Clinic, eight out of the nine patients treated for H. pylori demonstrated an improvement in energy, mood, and adrenal hormone production - punctuating the need for reliable stool testing that can identify the identify and quantify H. pylori infections.
Webinar highlights:
• Review the types of patients that will benefit from H. pylori treatment, including those suffering from fatigue, mood issues, chronic inflammation, and other non-GI symptoms
• Understand the clear-cut GI symptoms that can manifest as a result of long-term H. pylori infection
• Learn how chronic H. pylori infections can interfere with amino acid absorption and impact cells throughout the body
• Explore case studies showing this difficult-to-understand infection using the GI-MAP®

I recently did the antibiotic regimen for H.Pylori - I had never heard of it and didn’t know I might have options. The side effects, both physical and emotional, were brutal. I wasn’t expecting that. I certainly never want to do it again, so I’m trying to learn what I can. I can’t say I got through the entire hour of this video. but I got some great takeaways, including that H.Pylori likes a basic environment, and you actually need stomach acid. This inspired me to get off the long-term PPIs (esomeprazole, famotidine) I’ve been on for years. Instead, I finally committed to avoiding my three worst trigger foods (tomatoes, dairy, caffeine) - and my GERD is not acting up! 👍🏽

I was just diagnosed with this. I was having difficulty breathing, nose was getting chronically congested, even went to the ER due to shortness of breath. Got a ECG for my heart, did a PFP for the lungs, all healthy. My doctor was confused about my symptoms until I suggested it might be gastrointestinal because it was taking forever to digest my food, I didn't have an appetite, a little bit of food made me ridiculously full, felt like I had something clogged in my upper abdomen, and it was especially bad after I ate a meal or before bed at night. Currently three days into treatment, doing the triple meds and already feel so much better. Like night and day. My nose congestion is slowly getting better too.

I really hate webinars and podcast being implemented to youtube and this was the first that I've listened through. GIT is very complicated when someone with 0 knowledge of microbiology tries to understand it. This very vivid explanation of small intestine was helpful to understand. I wish more doctors had such an attitude towards their patients. I'm fighting this GI problem for years. I did test for H.pylori last year but i haven't seen the results myself, only my doctor seen the test. It could be possible that I had bellow 1000 and doctor thought its not it what makes the problem. I made an appointment for another test now. Thank You doctor Kalish!

How many of y’all got tested positive did the natural protocol, and then re-tested and were negative? I tested positive a year and a half ago and it definitely only acts up when I’m really stressed and then it’s ulcer pain. I don’t have acid reflux and my diet has been GF for 10y. I’m so glad this presentation mentions foggy headedness and anxiety because I never had that stuff before the last couple years either. I tried to take the meds and they just make me feel completely dizzy and headachy, I only weigh 105 pounds and I’m really sensitive to meds. My question is if it’s gotten to the level of having an ulcer then can you still do the natural route? I know stress is a big part for me… Thank you

Hi and thank you for your question. The GI-MAP tests for H. pylori and the virulence factors associated with it. The virulence factors are associated with more pathogenic infections, and your doctor may choose to treat it more aggressively. If you don't have virulence factors, many practitioners do use natural remedies to eradicate H. pylori.

I don't think natural remedies works as they claim in youtube . I tried few but nothing works to me at least. I would say just follow the specialist (must be a good gastroenterologist) , get endoscopy done and they will do a biopsy during the endoscopy. Its possibly the few well known ones like L Glutamine, collagen powder type 1,2,3,5,10, Licorice roots, marshmallow roots, zinc carnosine, mastic gum, chlorophyll, cabbage juice... There could b others.... BUt these r the few herbs known to fight hpylori and heal stomach ulcers.

Also brain fog and allways hungry. No doctor will help me so i found someone who run the GI map for me,i am waiting for the result. My blood test show i am constant low in iron,b12 and vitamin D . I bought the matula tea from Africa and it did start to help. But then I went ahead and started taking clove tea... Which was basically throwing a few cloves in boiling water and steeping them along with some cinnamon and other spices... That worked phenomenally well. I did go ahead and buy the mastic gum... Because that's supposed to be good not only for that but for a dozen other uses. But I'll have that on hand just in case I need it. I use this for not only the h pylori but also the Candida... I am in menopause and my gut biome did an about face all of the sudden. I will say though that limiting your carbs, especially your pastas and sugar was also very beneficial. I still had fruit though, such as tangerines berries. Once in a while, an apple or even a banana on occasion...

However, what do you do if this person has been supplementing for Iron Deficiency (Ferritin=3) Vitamin D Deficiency (D3=13) and B12 Deficiency (B12=300). Would you stop all these supplementations (Heme Iron 60g Elemental Iron Daily, 5000mg Methyl B12 Daily, and 50,000Vitamin D-weekly). Your anemia means you likely have candida overgrowth or parasites that would use iron. You likely have enough iron in your body but it is being sequestered into tissue to keep it out your blood stream and away from the grabs of these bugs. Sadly the medical world uses blood (around 7.5% of the body) and assumes the levels in blood are the best indicator of that substance in the whole body. They are not. Most people are chronically magnesium deficient but know-one know cos in the serum the levels are tightly regulated at 0.8% of total body magnesium levels!! Missed. Again same with iron - it can be stashed by the body and available for use but until you heal your gut you cannot get the iron back into your blood stream to move it to your bone marrow to make new red blood cells easily either as it could also be used by the bugs. Hope this helps.

So I’ve had issue since I was a kid . My mom has stomach issues , I have issues still and I see my adult kids with issues soooo .. I just saw a doctor not too long ago and stated all this and still lots of doctors just want to give anti acid pills .. So yesterday I decided to go to an acupuncturist and omg she is the one that told and explain this to me and now it all makes sense . I’m having endoscopy and colonoscopy done next month . See if the acupuncture doc was right and why did it take an acupuncturist to shed some light and none of my docs ever told me about this as a possible cause of my constant health issues . 😮

Hello. I am no Doctor but i can tell you my experience. I spent lots of money on natural health products and treatments. That only prolonged my agony until i too the antibiotic treatment. Then i used probiotics to help replenish the good bacteria. The blood test showed the level not the stool test. What i found out is that natural health medication is more of a preventative not a cure. If it cures it takes a long time. Whereas even though the drug medication might have side affects it will take care of The immediate problem and then you maintain it with natural things. I visit both medical and natural health practitioners and the very thing natural health practitioners say about the medical profession they do and even worse some times. Natural is many times more expensive and longer term use. I was sold even mud from a river in Scotland to help with the good bacteria. It was not until i was given the antibiotic treatment that i got help. May God give you wisdom to make the correct decisions. The antibiotic treatment is a lot cheaper.

H pylori is enough to do that to you. Other opportunistic cretins can live alongside it, like Candida, which mimics H Pylori. Destroying the Biofilms is key to destroying the little bastards. Pepto bismol can break down the biofilms and P73 oil of oregano, Neem, Triphala, Pau D'arco and mastic gum can kill them all, once their shields (biofilms) have been destroyed. You should definitely juice cabbage juice each morning on an empty stomach and take Zinc Carnosine to help your stomach pain and healing. Remember, Biofilms are what protects them from attacks, including antibiotics, so look for Biofilm destroyers and get on them. I've had 2 courses of Prevpac since 2019 and it's come back, but that's because I started eating all bad foods straight away instead of trying to fully eradicate the bacteria and fungus, before returning back to more enjoyable food and drink. Find a quality naturopath too. It can all get confusing and overwhelming.

It stops your body absorbing proteins, which puts stress on your adrenals. Prevpac has a lot of resistance... If u take that, then u need to stay away from alcohol, gluten, dairy, sugar and junk food for a few months after, while taking probiotics during and after treatment, aswel as repair your gut with L glutamine, Okra, DGL and Zinc Carnosine. Hi Naveed, I would suggest see a good gastroenterologist. They will do endoscopy and figure out the issue. to me, there is no point of taking H2 blockers etc., without knowing the cause of the problem. I have stopped taking coffee, some control on spicy food and avoiding the food that doesn't suits me. Butter milk with little ginger, little salt with crushed cumin seeds will help with gut but won't cure the underlying problem. stress or sleeplessness also another factor causes the gut issue to me at least. Just eat only foods that suits you, don't look into youtube for healthy foods etc., all those foods they say will not suit for everyone. All bodies are not same though.

I took 14 days treatment and my gastro in Asia suggest me to take probiotics and as well change my diet in vegetables. Seems there is a fight between some doctors who wants to give Omeprazole and the other 2 medicine and some others they said is bad because you are removing the acid of your stomach that can protect you from other bacterias What you need to do is make strong again your inmune system. Anyway I took the 14 days medicine. Hopefully the bacteria is out but I stop eating unhealthy food like fried food french fries pizzas , Seems our unidedstatian neighbors likes to eat those food. I've had 2 courses of Prevpac since 2019 and it's come back, but that's because I started eating all bad foods straight away instead of trying to fully eradicate the bacteria and fungus, before returning back to more enjoyable food and drink

Stress CAN absolutely be the cause of digestive upset however there can be other causes, some bacterial and others viral that may be treated with medications. My daughter in law was diagnosed (throughout her 15 YEAR infection)with anxiety and depression, which was likely a result of her H. Pylori infection. Blood and stool tests for it are easily obtainable and can be used to rule it out as a source of the "stress" condition causing dis-ease. In my opinion they should be routine, ESPECIALLY when accessing any patient in crisis who seeks relief. At least 700,000 people a year die from cancer caused by peptic ulcers, peptic ulcer is now known to be caused by long term H.Pylori infection. We have the right to be INFECTION FREE.

Finally she saw the Doctor who again tested her WHILE prescribing the anti nausea and anti depressants saying it probably wasn't Pylori. It was positive but while we waited for the results I read about Gum mastic ALOT and asked her if she wanted to take it, she did and days later was told the results of her blood and stool tests were lost. After being retested the lost results came back positive for Pylori. The doctor called saying the results of the tests taken after gum mastic for 3 days WERE NEGATIVE. Regardless, she prescribed the full regimen and assumes the negative results were a fluke and had her stop taking it. There's no disputing it, my daughter in law had NO symptoms, so seemed to match the results! It doesn't necessarily count you out but your thyroid levels should be closely monitored and your medications adjusted as the results dictate. Don't lose hope. As far as how long? Fifteen years of illness, one month of treatment then another year of illness, then Mastic gum ,PpI, anti nausea and anti depressant for 1 week before NEGATIVE tests for Pylori, both stool and blood. She's absolutely all better now with absolutely NO symptoms. Now we'll simply retest if her symptoms return. Thankfully we didn't need to step her down off of any thyroid medication. How common are false positives? I seem to have all the symptoms, but stool and endoscopy sample come out negative. I was on Prilosec and I even informed the doctors and they seemed to think it wasn't an issue.

Endoscopy is the most accurate there is. They likely took a biopsy and if they didn't find anything there then it's gotta be something else.

@@sdr5757 I haven't heard anyone getting false positives for endoscopies but they do recommend you discontinue meds for at least a few weeks to a month before getting one. Maybe you can ask for another one just in case if you think you have hp. They gave me a stool test and I was taking furosemide that my doc prescribed me at the time. Supposedly you're supposed to stop taking it for at least 24 hours in advance but I didn't know that. Test still came out positive though so idk why for some people they test false negative while others don't.

Hi and thank you for your question. The GI-MAP uses quantitative PCR technology that identifies organisms through their DNA. The test does not show false positives. It only shows results for DNA found in the specimen. Hope this helps!

Why would a doctor prescribe plyera for H pylori when a person has h pylori but mild symptoms I feel that treatment is very aggressive

Hi and thank you for your question. Depending of H. pylori levels and virulence factors, practitioners treat the infection differently. If there are mild symptoms, it is generally best practice to eradicate the infection.

Try drinking extra light virgin oil. 30mg I just started today I did 15mg in the afternoon and will do 15mg at night. It took away the stomach pain and swelling right away. Studies also showed it can take away h pylori. You would have to do a 14 day course. Also do a healthy diet. I do turkey and salads.
