    I make it step by step now. I was bad at decluttering, nut now I make it in 2 ways: - Drawer for drawer, cabinet by cabinet. I pick one drawer, only one, to declutter and organize. And I do it. This method take a few minutes. Start with the less important things for you. That is the easiest things to declutter. - I pick a room and put 15 minutes in the timer. I'm just 15 minutes doing it and if I have that momentum I stay for more. Allways start with the easiest. Hope to help' 😊

    I don't regard de-cluttering as a project, it's more of a lifestyle practice, because it is never completed and should be done every week, month, year, and decade of life.

    Have needed to declutter for ages but everytime I think about it, it becomes so overwhelming and I just can't make things happen. I was just bemoaning how stressed I am feeling and thought I'd just rest and watch some KZread videos and this was there. Thank you so much. My step for today is to just take pictures and truly face the disorganisation (slight, probable... hoard)

    Just know you are NOT ALONEmany people are having this issue and it’s not laziness. The overwhelming amount of “stuff” (and I say this respectfully) is literally taking over many peoples homes and life. One can feel frozen because we know what we want but just can’t get started. Believe me I know. Baby steps and a decisive conviction to commit just 10 minutes. Set a timer ⏱️ put on some music and go for it. 🎉 you can do it!!❤

    This was SUCH a great video... I am a minimalist at heart and was until I married.. then my husband brought all his junk... then we had 2 kids... more junk!...it stressed me our whole life trying to clean and organise. We separated and as soon as he moved out on Jan 1st 6 yrs ago I spent the first year decluttering his stuff!..90 moving boxes full!.. he still needs to collect 50 of them. Then I started on my things in the 2nd year.. which wasn't as bad as I thought, and then my kids stuff. In the 3rd year I did another "whole house declutter" ..since then I declutter odd things as I see fit but I haven't done a big whole house declutter since 2019.. this year I am doing the next one.. like you say "take your time" .. I agree because with time it is easier to declutter more and more.. The only areas I haven't decluttered are digital.. that will come when I have the head space for it..which is when my physical space doesn't stress me anymore. I wish I had taken photos to see how far I have come..with time you forget and then get frustrated if your space still stressing you!

    6 years? You stored his stuff for 6 years? Tell him if it's not gone by such and such a date, it's going to the dump. His choice. I bet he won't even show up to get it. He's done without it this long, he obviously doesn't need any of it!

    Cleaning is one of my favorite parts of the decluttering process! There is such satisfaction and that! It’s a chance to rejoice in my accomplishment every few minutes. And one of my accomplishments has been to put things on wheels and to use wall-mounted storage solutions so that keeping the floor clear is easy Peezy. Sure, boxes may come and go, piles ditto, but I can clean under and around just about anything in my house without a lot of trouble. I’m not interested in creating homes for unwelcome visitors!

    Bravo Mariana! This video was absolutely FANTASTIC!! Organization and Decluttering have been hyper fixations of mine since childhood, and I have consumed SO much content on the genre. The points you make are so entirely different than anyone else’s, and actually make so much more sense to me in the ways you’ve presented. I LOVE the way you labeled the bags: Get Rid Of (Remove), Re-home, and Hold! I often get stuck before I even start decluttering due to not being able to simply decide if it is a donate or sell item. This one concept alone has freed my little neurodivergent brain to see the process in just enough of a new way that it doesn’t feel overwhelming, but instead freeing. On a side note: I’ve loved your videos for years now, your editing style and voice are so soothing. But I just wanted you to know that this one was just too notch above the other creators on the topic! Thank you!! 💜💜💜

    I LIKE that idea of photos 📸... shows a progress... which can be a gift in and of itself, to stay motivated! YEP! a box for donate, trash, or for passing on to animal shelters (towels, blankets) or Senior Citizen Retirement Homes (books, magazines, stationary). Makes letting go feel wonderful and helpful! Good luck, all ! 👍

    Decluttering isn’t fun but it sure makes you feel so much better once you rid your home of all the things taking up space that are not being utilized. I forced my husband and son to declutter their space yesterday and they were complaining the whole time but at the end of it they were so happy that the house look so much cleaner and less cleaning needed in the future if they keep up with organizing their things.

    Another huge consideration is the family members or the number that is within the home. Including myself, there are 3 adults and 2 teenagers. Each of the four has schedules that do not include just simply picking up their belongings. This becomes a mess! Currently, I am beginning a donation preparation. A local AMVET will be in our area on 4 May 2023. Each member is encouraged to bag slightly and clean worn items to donate. There is an entire room that has been used as a “dumping” of so much. Especially, clothing. This video is giving major motivation. Loving the points noted here. Agree with the cleaning first then organize. What a great idea with the maintenance list.

    I've been waiting and holding on to items my Mom has thoughtfully picked up for me but I did not ask for or want in my space. I try to create an optimal environment with a snack or music. I have started with just my space as with so many others in the home it isn't as easy to keep everything tidy beyond my space.

    Thanks for the info. This has inspired me to do some tidying up and organizing. But I really don't know what to do. My life is a complete mess. I was stranded in my apartment over a year. Because my car wouldn't start. Adult male living with cat in a new town. Just this week my car finally started and is working. It's s miracle. But I have no clue how to organize my life. I don't know what to do. My apartment became a huge mess. And dirty. I even have stuff I can sell online worth thousands. Like comic books and such. I just don't know how to do anything. I'd like to get in shape and go back to school. But I need to get everything organized first. I don't know if I can.

    It takes a lot of courage to start! Step by step, you'll eventually get there :) Write down a "To Do List" with everything that's a priority at the moment and, one thing at a time, start checking them off your list, so you won't feel so overwhelmed. Hope this helps!

    I don't really have trouble decluttering since I think twice before buying any things if they're not groceries or I'll just throw/donate one out to get a new one in. What bothers me the most is it seems like I have trouble keeping things in place especially for things like yoga mat, which is used on regular basis. Therefore I doubt "do I have to put it back?" while thinking it's in my way..😂

  • @bitrudder3792

    @bitrudder3792

    Rebeca, have you figured out how to solve your yoga mat problem? My favorite solutions at home involve making it super simple to put things away close to where I use them. (I am thrilled with my pots and pans right now, grab and pull out, grab and put away in one motion). If you don’t want to simply mount the thing to the wall by adding some loops to the mat and hooks to the wall, could you drop it into an attractive hamper with a lid? I have a basket woven hamper that is currently serving as a laundry hamper for my husband’s dry cleaning, and in the past It has held rolled up landscaping plans, sewing fabrics, and a trash bin. If you have floorlength curtains in the room where you do your yoga, can you roll it up and tuck it behind the folds? (Unless you are one of those “out of sight, out of mind“ people, like me!) Best of luck in getting your space just how you want!
