me hoping I don't have any overconfidence bias with my MCAT in three days

I have never had overconfidence when it comes to tests. I always have the opposite problem. And now, thanks you this video suggesting I might have overconfidence during the MCAT, I'm worried about that, too, and will be even less confident in my responses if I let it get to me. "Does this reasoning make sense or am I being overconfident?"

Well, I am binge watching these psychology videos just for fun, and gotta admit, the last example was sooo cool. Literally blew my mind. Like HOW IT CAN BE SOO DAMN easy to completely change a decision, that too, in just a few seconds , only by changing the way it was presented. Goshhh, psychology is fun !

hi every body. I have a problem, would anybody help me, I am studing physical therapy, it's my first year in university, I love physical therapy, and there are no problems with studying, I get really high marks in exams, but the problem is that I don't know what I am doing here, I don't want to be a physiotherapist, I like reading In business and want to be an entrepreneur, I don't know should I stop studying physical therapy, and go to business school, or should I study business just beside my physical therapy course which is my parents opinion.

there are some people who master in computer science and business or computer science + electrical engineering, I guess you can master in business and physical therapy i guess, But i am not sure try to post this quotation in some online education thread or in Reddit.

KZread is a dubious place to acquire educational counseling. That being said, acquiring marketable skills is a stellar way of enabling you to provide for yourself and your family. When you are young, it can be difficult to decide which educational/career path to take because you can't live long enough to do everything; however, chances are, you will live long enough to do a few things. Lacking firm guidance or desire, a foundation in business can help a person in many areas. Additionally, common logic suggests that physical therapy skills will be a marketable skill for as long as people have physical bodies. Maybe the choice is not either or, but which one is first. It is wise to follow the advice of people that care about you and your future well-being, but it is you who must live with your decisions. Remember, you have the freedom to make your own choices, but ultimately, your choices will make you. Choose wisely.

Answering "Is it more likely to die from a shark attack or..." is not a decision (or is a lame one). You can look up the facts. A decision is "Should I marry this person" or "Should I take this job", "Where to live" etc. This video is actually about reasoning fallacies.

Awesome video, but the feminist example is a terrible one. I can understand the conjunction fallacy, but I can't understand a woman with bachelor degree in philosophy that fights against non-representativity being also against equal rights for man and woman (which is basically the definition of a feminist). Only if she would be some kind of hypocrite, which I don't think is what the example meant at all.

Late response, but I wanted to give my interpretation. I think you might be missing the idea of the conjunction fallacy a little bit. The idea is just that the co-occurrence of two instances can't be more likely than the occurrence of just one of the instances alone. Even if I made the situation more extreme and said that Linda was actually just a feminist in college, she's still more likely to be a banker than a feminist banker because of the slim, but possible chance she changed her views from when she was in college. Let's say the probability that Linda is a banker is 30% or 0.3 and the probability that she's a feminist at this moment is 99% or 0.99. The probability that she's a feminist banker would be 0.3 x 0.99 which is still less than the probability that she's a banker.
