Dr. No | The Disturbing Origins | James Bond Villain

Ойын-сауық

Welcome to Episode 1 of my all New Series “Villains”. In this series I will be using every source available to uncover and piece together the delightfully devastating past that brings the James Bond Villains to the breaking point. Get inside of the heads of these dastardly criminals to help uncover what led them to this life of crime. Dr. No is no slouch and I’ve had so much fun learning about his past while filling in the blanks with pieces of history as Fleming left behind several well developed breadcrumbs for us to follow. I’m so glad you’ve subscribed and opted to join me on uncovering these colorful back stories from some of fictions most iconic baddies in cinematic, and literary,
history.

Awesome video, Chris! I love the way you wove together the background stories as presented in both the book and the film. Great documentary style - Ken Burns would shriek with delight! Oh, and I was thrilled that you included so much background on the Doctor's medical studies in Milwaukee. As a Milwaukee-area resident since 1992, I was astonished that with such a strong geographical connection to the region the 60th anniversary celebrations weren't centered around Cream City. We had to console ourselves with the world's largest corn maze in northern Illinois. I feel that I've always identified more with the villains than with Bond. While playing Chopin my mind often strays to thoughts of world domination, extortion, and REVENGE! (Shakes head to clear thoughts) In any case, a wonderful kick-off to the series - I'm looking forward to the remaining 24!

Thank you Charlie, this is just the start. This series is already shaping up to be something I’m going to be proud of. And I promise you that I’m just as excited to see how these unfold.

Wow, brilliant video! This is going to be a great series and I can't wait for more! Indecently I've been inside the Hop Sing Tong hall you show in the video. Fu Jow Pai kung fu, the school I belong to, had its origins in the Hungmun Tong, one of the many pro-Ming/anti-Ching rebel Tongs during the Boxer Rebellion of 1900. As a result, I've some brief "associations" with some of them.

We’re going into the darkness on these. To have a better understanding of how they reached a point that required the world greatest spy’s attention. Knowing their struggle and what motivated them paints that picture.

Great video! Love the work you put in it. The little tidbits about finding which medical school in Milwaukee No went gives so much more sense as to why he studied there (always found it weird, since Milwaukee isn't the biggest city, unless I'm mistaken). Continue the great work. This is the series we didn't know we needed

Great video, thoroughly looking forward to the rest of the series. For years I ranked Dr No (the film and the villain) quite low down, until gaining a new appreciation over the last few years. The literary ‘No’ is quite similar to Wiseman’s portrayal. But I do like the extra detail we get from the novel. Just a shame his ‘pet’ didn’t make the film

I didn't know Dr. No and I had something in common . . . I was born with the same thing - the variant I have is Kartagener's Triad Syndrome - which is extremely rare. In fact - I have yet to meet someone else (other than my late brother) born with dextrocardia.
