Decades Old Equipment Saves the Garden

Danny shows how decades old piece of equipment still works. The planter was his dad's and has been in the family for 40 years. Danny uses the tractor and planter to put fertilizer in 3 rows that he is gonna use the Hoss Tool seeder to plant the red ripper peas. Tools and equipment are the only way to garden when producing acres of food.

These old planters as you call them are still in production today. They are made in Albany, Ga, USA. You can still buy the plates or any part you need. Covington's website shows you where the nearest dealer is for your location. You can buy them already setup on the cultivator in a 1 row or a 2 row setup complete.

I LOVE LOVE THESE VIDEOS !! You guys are so good! I was just wondering how to get a close-up and BAM there it is. Thank you so much, Wanda and Danny. I know most people are not going to get excited about these things, but I do. Geeze I wished you lived closer to North Canton :( Oh, the Music was perfect, just perfect. I am so glad that this OLD farmgirl never got the farm out of me. God Bless you two and your family and friends.

I like your planter Danny and pretty smart making 2 pieces of equipment out of one. We sow our seed by hand but could see how much time we could save by using a planter like that. I like the history that goes along with old history and the fact they are made good. Y'all have a Blessed Day!

Love the video--here where I live in Highland county Ohio--I see some many old unused farm equipment thats still good and usable just going to waste, it makes me sick too as I was raised to be frugal and take care of what God gives you but seems the new generation wants to discard everything and constantly buy new this or that--what a waste. God bless.

I am lucky enough to have a horse drawn seeder and hay mower!!! I have a smaller seeder like your Hoss that I have used for nearly 40 yrs and it sure saves my back!!!! I have one box bed and its such a job to keep weeded, but I also put hoops on it for winter which is nice. I will keep tilling and rowing the rest of the gardens tho!!! Weeds I have to hand pull go to the rabbits and chickens.

I bought the Covington one row when I retired. At first I was about ready to sell it for scrap. But now that I figured it out I wouldn't trade it. That corn shovel pushes the rocks out the way, the double disc opener works great even with a little trash still on the ground, and the presser wheel works like a champ. I've got plates for darn near everything and the sprockets to regulate the in row spacing. I have a cotton can but I've never used it. This year I gave up the greenhouse work and just plant in field. Any tips on the cotton can?.Will it plant turnips and mustard? Thanks for this video. Everyday is a school day.
