    I put a mirror it the seed hopper facing forward. That way I can see the seeds entering the chute, and know if there is a problem right from the drivers seat.Also I like to be moving forward before placing the planter into the dirt. If not, you can sometimes plug the bottom opening with a clump of dirt.

    We've got a Cole planter unit that my dad purchased over 50 years ago. We also still have a set of the Cole fertilizer distributors that originally mounted on a two row tobacco cultivator. Their a rock solid investment and a proven design. Not the most accurate, however, by far the most durable.

    I remember the planter boxes my dad had on his Farmall C when I was a kid. The seed and the fertilizer boxes were ran by a chain on each side of the tractor under the platform. It was fun to sit on the fenders and watch that equipment work. We planted corn, beans, and peas.

    This is my second year owning a Cole Planter. Make sure you clean out after the season and give a good spray of metal protectant lube. I was going to plant another acre of corn but got busy with heavy drought didn’t get to planting corn. So I was planting corn this year and last years corn and fertilizer caked it up pretty good. I had my Cole Planter in the shed. Being in a humid climate the gears and everything else that moves started to rust up. Note the heavy duty spray on lube. I also had to use a wire brush to knock off a lot of the surface rust so everything was moving properly. Make sure before you start clean the drop seed tube that is in the under ground planter. I was going when I first bought it and the seed was binding up in the rubber removable hose. I took my level front foot off. I couldn’t get it to adjust right to have the back wheel and everything to set right) I was doing this by myself) If you buy this Cole planter for a John Deere 1025r. You may have to get the quick hitch imatch hook up that is on the planter rebuild for you quick hitch tractor.

    Ted and Peanut another great video that helped me understand how this is supposed to work. Been considering one for my 1025r. One thing I did notice though was you were spitting fertilizer out the back behind the wheel on top of the soil. Perhaps the plate was open too much for the fertilizer flow???

    I have been using this planter for several years now and find by adding a little weight to the back of the planter gives better results. The wheel will have more pressure to turn better and pack the seeds much better. Add some weight to the back .

    We've had one of these for years and one of the biggest problems is plugging the seed foot at the end of the rows. If there is any soil moisture at all and you put that planter down, it may plug up that foot with soil. You'll get your whole garden "planted" and then find out all of your seed never got planted but stayed in the planter. We will start rolling slowly ahead and then drop the foot to alleviate this. The other issue is over tightening the cast part inside the planter that holds the seed plate. If it's too tight, it will bind up the planter. You'll notice the large, rear cast wheel dragging and not rolling...similar to what you showed here. Good planter though-we've done sunflowers, beans, peas, and corn with it.

    justlookingon11 I’ve found that mine tends to plug up when you stop with the planter in the ground, if you are moving when you pick it up and set it down it will help with the problem

    From what I’m seeing here , if I bought one of these the only crop I could plant is rice . Unless we have a dry summers. I’m in eastern NC and in June we get a lot of rain . I have to make my rows high and break the top off just a little to keep my plants from drowning.

    Seems there would be a compaction issue with a single row planter. How do you gang that up for a 2-row planter?

  • @EverythingAttachments

    @EverythingAttachments

    6 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for watching! The single row actually works out well because you straddle the rows with the planter and then, later with the cultivator. The 2 row features an 80" tool bar so you can mount the planters according to your tractor's size. Both are offered here on the website. www.everythingattachments.com/Cole-Planter-12-MX-Planter-Seed-Planter-p/cole-12mx.htm Feel free to call or email sales@everythingattachments.com with any questions.

    I noticed the ground was soft. Do you have problems with seed contact to the ground. Most Farmers pack the ground before planting.

    Your video was very colorful however you did not specifically describe the corn planter it would have been nice if you had a showed how to change the gears within the planter if you showed the adjustment rate pounds per acre of the fertilizer coming down show the mechanics of the planner it's what you showed us just a visual part of how the wheels turn however I would like to see how you change the exact spacing of the three years that you showed it was in your hand at the beginning of the videos how about redoing it and being specific
