claude debussy, was a genius, his music was beyond being beautiful. the music he created in his mind, touched our very heart strings, almost wanna make you cry, of the beauty of his music.his music gives me so much comfort. god bless you mr debussy, may you rest in peace..

Listening to “Clair de Lune” always evokes memories of my dear friend Marie Louise from Paris, France. Despite her broken English, her French accent was like music to my ears, captivating me from the moment we met. She embodies the same softness, gentleness, and kindness as this piece, and I can’t help but feel enveloped by her warmth whenever I think of her. I don’t know when I’ll see her again, but I pray for her safety and well-being every day. She’s truly a treasure in my life, much like the beauty of this timeless melody.

My parents - married 68 years - had this played at their wedding. My husband and I - married 40 years & counting - also had it played as part of our pre-ceremony music. The tension, pain, understanding and freedom is palpable. Beautiful.

To me, this may be the most beautiful piece of music ever written. There are parts in it that to this day make me cry, it touches my very soul. What a beautiful rendition, I also love the solo piano version.

This is so beautiful. The orchestra version feels more like gliding with the stars while the piano version feels like throwing your best jewelry into the sweeping sea

I was lucky enough to be born into a house with music. My dad loves to play piano, and he wasn’t the most talkative person, but when he started to play piano, you could feel him speaking to you. When I was 2 years old, he would sit me on his lap and play this song. When I was 14 years old, he was diagnosed with cancer, and they told him he wouldn’t live to the end of the year (it was August) He lived for two more years, defying everything the doctors had told him. He died surrounded by his family, and his last words to me were, “never stop playing, can you please, play for me? And not forget me? Can you do that for me?” At his funeral, I was asked if I would play a song, and I chose to play this song, the song he played while I would sit on his lap. The song that could bring back a thousand memories. And now, 8 years later, I sat down at the piano with my beautiful 2 year old girl, who we decided to name Claire, and played this song for her.

Indeed, it's the epitome of serenity in this orchestral form. But I have to admit the piano version sounds like a bead of pearls being scattered in front of my eyes/ears, and this impression is lost in the multi-instrument rendering. Still, a beatiful and fantastically played piece. Thank you!

This is due to the clarity of the sound that we have when a single or few instruments are being played (the orchestra "blur" the sound), several times a single instrument or a chamber orchestra are better for a composition because the clarity of sounds adds intimacy and make its feel more personal.

@@Dylan_1344 yes. Minor chords and certain intervals are the mechanics of it. But if it were just that, we’d have a kajillion pieces of music like this. And while there is a wealth of great classical music, there aren’t many that do this particular emotional thing quite like Clair de lune.

He's basically a cat i've been into his funerals several times around 3 or 4 maybe.

More cowbell, 😂 This makes me cry every time, no matter what instrument(s) it’s played on. I’m a professional musician, and I’ve played everything from heavy metal, pop, rock, jazz, classical, country, but for me, this has to be the most perfectly written piece of music ever!!

This piece is VERY special for me, i get very emotional, cry like a baby, i heard 30 years ago. The chapter of my parents and grandparents, and what i wanted to be to them, but wasnt, and what they did for me and i only see that TODAY. Thank you very much and sorry.

I love this version of Claire De Lune- So much passion and so much sadness... I too believe that I would love to have this played at my funeral.

This symphony version is absolutely beautiful. Bravo.

this piece brings me such serenity and yet bitter-sweetness at the same time. It's brought me to tears before. Fills me entirely with emotion, both the orchestral and piano instrumentations.

This is a stunning arrangement and a stunning performance. Debussy would have loved it

A day without listening to this gorgeous piece is a wasted day.

Ever since I was a child I loved this piece. I can't forget that it is timeless for me.

It's His divine love flowing through the soul of Debussy, calling us upward. It contains both His passion and His exaltation in His humanity now glorified forever. You can have Him if you are willing to go all in.

This is just magical! I am so thankful I live at a time when I have all this classical music at my fingertips, just waiting for me to listen to it.

Magical! This orchestra superbly brings out the lush tranquility of this masterpiece. My absolute favorite piece of music.

IMO this is the finest and most sensitive of the numerous orchestral arrangements of this piece (Andre Caplet) because it utilizes all of the various instruments for color and texture.
