It’s not that there is another Herald not breaking for all that time, Shallan kills her mom which sends her to Braize and she then breaks quickly. Taln was the only one on Braize until Shallan’s mom got sent back there, who then broke in short order.

I just noticed another clue for that theory on my WoR reread. Shallan uses "mothers soul" as an exclamation and every time someone does that it's always a Herald and a body part. I'm sure I'm not the first to notice this but I had never heard it before.

If she's killed with a shard blade though would she be able to go back there? Shards sever the connection with soul and body, they seem to directly harm the spirit web.

It was kinda funny how Christian asks if he knows the "Shallans mother is a Herald" theory and then proceeds to not explain that the theory suggests that her mother died and was sent back to Braize, not that another Herald was there with Taln for 4500 years.

@@QCreytonI’m not sure, but I imagine it’s similar to a Fused, we see those defeated by shardblade frequently but until anti-Voidlight they never were sent anywhere but Braize. Supporting this, Raboniel certainly would’ve freed her daughter sooner if a shardblade worked.

​@@QCreytonI don't think they can be perma-killed so easily. I'm sure that over the course of time a Herald was killed by a shardblade. Book 4 is all about this, Raboniel wanted a way to perma-kill her daughter and bring about an end to the war with a new weapon. It's also the first time that the Fused use Raysium to pull a Herald into a gem which perma-kills them. Using a shardblade would be much easier than developing the Raysium dagger. The most obvious answer is that the Fused have been killed by Shardblades countless times and are sent to Braize before returning to Roshar again. They can't be perma-killed by them so Heralds likely can't either.

Not to be that guy, but I'll be that guy - Chapter 115 of RoW is entitled "Testament". Shallan, Adolin, and their three spren, Maya, Testament, and Pattern are in their rooms in Lasting Integrity.

Teft being a junkie was foreshadowed in his first chapter. He tells Kaladin right away, "I will let you down", that is junky talk

Loved the Episode (as always) and I finally started to reread the Series as well. Concerning the theories, I feel like Radiant didn't even exist, back when Shallan was a kid. I think she only appears in Oathbringer and Rythm of War.

Technically i would say Radiant first appeared in WoR when she confronted the band of outlaws with Gaz, though it clearly wasn't yet a solidified alter ego. She also uses this "proto-Radiant" when she is being questioned during the meeting of High Princes when she first enters the war camps.

Hey theory that Taln didn't break is based on the idea that Shallan killed her mom who was a Herald who was then sent back to Braze when she died and she only lasted a few years before she broke.

I believe we did see testament in shadesmar, they get brought up in Adolin's trial as the reason the new heralds can't be trusted because one of them has "killed" their spren right?

In the lord rulers favor on a fight against a herald. Allomancy has emotion manipulation powers. Lots of radients and the heralds in particular might be uniquely vulnerable to a duralumin enhanced shoothing/rioting combo.

The Death Rattles and the Thrill are caused by two different Unmade. Moelach for the Death Rattles and Nargaoul for the Thrill. They both seem to be moving around quite a bit, though.

Yes. Everyone's waiting for Wind And Truth... Self included, but the best news book I've read so far this year (released last year) is The Will Of Many, by James Islington. Really good....

This may be a stretch, but I distinctly remember a conversation in RoW where someone is talking about the parshendi, and that the continual rebirth of them through the storm was "breaking" their minds. Maybe that that process of rebirth is painful? Light growing distant is maybe them being removed from Roshar? And since the parshendi being native and being forced off roshar would probably feel like the end of all things as they knew it? idk.... I am pretty sure thats why The Pursuer got smacked though. He actually could not think straight.

The Oroden idea is interesting. What if it is a references to someone needing to either stop or start Kaladin is to harm his litle brother but they can not be brought to do it. No matter how desperately they feel they need to stop kaladin and force him into a depressed state, they can not do it.

The other option is Hoid is looking for Frost. Because the 17th shard is trying to find him on screen.

I deeply need to re-read the first three Stormlight books, go through and study each chapter, but I want to know what the hype is around WoR. Nothing against it, I just think its funny because I remember not liking it as much as the WoK and Oathbringer. I really think its just me not reading them super recently, but I do want to know what stood out to everyone about it. If anyone is bored enough to just say some little thing that they liked about the book that would be fun, and probably give me the motivation to read it fully through without skipping boring chapters lol

I’ll add to the Shallon’s mom theory… I think Shalash is Shallon’s mom. The big linch pin here is where was Shalash? But consider: 1) Shalash was also a light weaver, potentially passing that trait down to Shallon 2) Shalash was tearing thru Roshar destroying images of herself - perhaps her daughter reminded her of herself, so she was going to kill her 3) we know Taln didn’t break, so what if Shallon killed Shalash, and she didn’t last long on Braise 4) when Shalash meets Taln she’s extra sorrowful, not just because she abandoned Taln, but because she couldn’t last more than a few years, and ultimately broke. 5) shalash is almost a palindrome, just like shallon, and even sounds like shallon! 6) the kremlings told me so. 😂

Best fight scene Sanderson has ever written will be Gavinor vs. Oroden.

The Pershendi were okay with a war of nutrition so they didn't mind only committing a fraction of their forces without full on engagements it drew out the war and slowed down the death of their entire group. But once the Rosharians changed battle tactics they responded in kind. But the second army didn't engage often most likely because of the same reason they didn't have shardbeaerers go after the Alethi shards letting the ones already in the fight go for the win.

This makes sense, thank you. I eas thinking from a micro battle by battle perspective it lowers casualties to have numerical superiority, but didn't consider the macro problem that overcommiting would escalate, but then when the Alethi did that they had no choice

Also, scouts were posted to give warning if the Parshendi starts bringing another army into the fight. Dalinar trusted Saddeus enough to let him provide the scouts which is why he didn’t get a warning.

What was Jake's favourite book series? I think he mentioned it last time he guest appeared. I think the series title had Wyrm riders in it maybe?

The Everstorm isn't a storm like the others, it's the Weeping, that's why light is growing distant. with the weeping you get no recharge of the spheres and such.

The stormfather has said multiple times that Dalinar is changing him, risks killing him (because changing and killing are the same thing to the stormfather), every time he has forced the storm to spare people, turn around or go inside buildings. I'm waiting for that payoff, I'm waiting for Dalinar to push it too far and for the stormfather to lose access to stormlight, or get split from the storm maybe, I don't know, but there is something there. Maybe the stormfather does it to himself, even?

Dalinar is not going to do well with cross-universe battles. The reason Rosharans are taller than most people is Roshar is lighter gravity, no? Therefore the people are not as strong. Basically Wayne could probably take out Dalinar.

@@passdoutcouchpotatos His point seems to be that the black thorn is not as strong as he would be if he had lived his life on a world with more gravity, not to mention the effects low gravity has on bone density. someone from another world, with higher gravity would be stronger and have stronger bones given a reasonably similar amount of experience.
