1. Both of these franchises deserve remakes/comebacks 2. Its too fitting that this whole battle felt like one between a superhero and a supervillain. 3. The saddest part is that if Alex had met someone like Cole he might have been able to work past his nihilism Fun fact: Its been a long standing fan theory that Alex isn't dead. At least not traditionally and that he *wanted* Heller to consume him Its a shame too because a third Prototype game was apparently planned, but the studio was absorbed into Activision before anything came out of it.

Honestly, If I had it in me to write out the game design documents, I have an entire detailed reboot of the [Prototype] franchise planned out inside my head - from a prequel where you follow Elizabeth Greene and the incident in Hope, Idaho, over remakes of the two original games, an MMO (similar style to "The Division") in which you mutate your own custom infected in the Blacklight-controlled New York and fight mainly against intruding military, up to a sequel game where you discover what became of Greene's son.

But then they turned around and did nothing with him. Hell, I'm pretty sure the 2nd game doesn't even acknowledge his existence.

@@filipvadas7602 tbf, I prefer them just doing nothing at all with the concept over doing _something_ just to work it in, and then failing. [P2]'s writing already was a tad stale, so I'm not sure they could have done the concept justice. I'd have Heller (now trying to convince the ever evolving infection of New York to stay put) learn of a top secret military base on the East Coast that recently went dark, with some breadcrumbs connecting it to the bioweapons research. He decides to head there to investigate (clearing NY for the MMO project) and finds that Pariah somehow got access to info he wasn't supposed to, which prompted him to take over the installation. Heller confronts him, but Pariah seems more interested in something he senses inside him - he touches Heller, causing first Mercer to burst out of him, and then Greene to burst out of Mercer, reversing the assimilation (BAM, powerplay. "This guy is OP!" moment; also justifying a level reset for the start of the game). Reunited with his mother and influenced by her trauma, he then decides to take over the city nearby (either the SF area or LA). Heller now has to team up with Mercer (who without Greene's influence is less insane again) in order to stop Pariah before Greene can talk him into annihilating all of humanity. Make him a superhuman with perfect composure and conviction, but with no interpersonal experience and sudden trust issues - which makes him easily swayed by his mother, who he considers the victim in everything.

I don't know if Alex Mercer could ever change, canonically he has Anti Social Personality Disorder (He is a sociopath)

The line about the script being from 2013 isn't meant to be taken literally. It's a joke, building off the previous line about this battle FINALLY happening "long after these characters were ever relevant." (i.e. these characters haven't appeared in a game since 2012-2013)

By the time they had the technical skill for a battle anywhere near this good-looking, they were worried the fans didn't care about these dated characters anymore.

The InFamous series is so underrated. Most people only know the series from Second Son, but I assure you the whole series is a collective banger. Especially the PS3 duology and the vampire dlc (yes that was a thing im not joking lol).

This Death Battle is a dream come true for people like me who've loved these games since we were kids. And to have it be in a classic Superhero V.S Supervillain narrative format? Hell yeah. It's absolutely dripping with that early 2000's Superhero Comic Book edge and it's fantastic.

Both these games came out in the late 2000s within a few months of each other and were immediately pitted against each other by the gaming community. Both games are open-world superhero sandboxes taking place in fictionalized New York, both feature a quarantine/plague in which the hero must unravel a conspiracy while learning about the nature of their powers, both games are themed around identity and what it means to know oneself (Cole discovering that his future self was the one who set the plague crisis into motion and "Alex" discovering that the first person he consumed and man he falsely believed himself to be... was the one who set the plague crisis into motion). Like these two games are UNCANNILY similar and it really worked in their favor from a marketing perspective. The rivalry brought a ton of eyeballs to what should have been smaller releases SuckerPunch the dev who before inFamous was only known for Sly Cooper at the time a platforming classic and the Prototype team were really only known for creating The Simpsons: Hit and Run a GTA clone set in The Simpsons IP and a 2005 Hulk freeroaming game that Prototype was heavily inspired by. Neither of these games would have done as well as they did without the extra attention earned by the rivalry

These two games defined my teenage years. Prototype 1 and 2 were my favorites in Middle School on my 360, but when I got a PS4 in High School I played the inFamous trilogy. Wanted this matchup for years and I’m so glad it finally happened! Had a smile the whole time. Also, Brandon Yates never misses on the OST for this season. [inHuman], the track for this one, is probably my personal favorite. It really hearkens back to the music of the time and the Linkin Park/Eminem edgy sort of style. Great fight all around and I’m glad you guys liked it too!

I like how both were heroes or villians depends on which version of em you take, so they just took the hero version of one and villian of the other

To you, this was another Death Battle. To me, this is seeing one of my absolute favorite childhood characters (Cole) taking on his video game rival and nemesis in a fight to the death that has been long overdue for over a decade. There have been a lot of characters that I love that have showed up in Death Battle, but to see Cole in anything new after a decade of silence is like seeing a childhood friend that you haven’t seen since, well, childhood. Cole and the inFAMOUS series will always hold a special place in my heart 🥲

Having played/watched most of the Infamous games, I was definitely rooting for Cole to win. Though I do feel bad that Prototype fans never got another game after 2. These guys weren't as popular as comic book characters, but I loved seeing these games in action.

Though I enjoyed the Prototype games for what they are, the fact of the matter is that they are ultimately pretty mediocre. They also painted themselves into a corner by having Alex turn fully evil outside of player control and then killing him off, Heller was not a very interesting protagonist and was nowhere near as iconic as Alex (who himself was only mildly so anyway).

Me being a 2009 kid seeing gameplay trailers for Prototype and Infamous on the same CD that I got from a gaming magazine called LEVEL. So many memories!

The next Death Battle, Frieza vs. Megatron, was my childhood but at two different points in life. Transformers was early and DBZ was teenage years. I was screaming at my monitor in pure hype when it was announced. Can't wait for the reaction to it from you two!

This was battle that was highly anticipated for over a decade. And being the 3D fight champion’s poll winner, I’d say this episode did this match up incredible justice. Glad you two really enjoyed this one and so excited to see your reaction to Friezatron. It’s another episode that I think is another absolute highlight of Season 10! And the bet between you two is still incredibly neck and neck! I’m gonna laugh if it ends up as a tie after all this.

Alex is essentially a combination of two villains Cole took on, plus Evil Cole at his worst. The finishing blow grows stronger based on distance. Karmic Overload was powered by actions such as Cole freezing the building, which leaves citizins unaffected. (This doesn't save the poor souls Alex consumed, but still counts as a Good Action.) Bio Leech gives Cole Evil Karma- not enough to change Cole, but it still tells you how dangerous Alex is.

what i like about him using bio-leech+thunder drop on alex at the end was that Technically alex didn't give cole any other choice He tried almost all of his usual good arsenal and non of it worked until alex gave him the idea of "Hey i can absorb things too"

Infamous 1 + 2 if i wouldn't love Spiderman so much as a game and universe, he is pretty close to my idea what a hero should be and he's not dead ^^ But Infamous was amazing and would be my favourite superhero/antihero/villain story. Because the maincharacter was believable..and that was way before stuff like THE BOYZ.

This battle was the most insane one that brings tears of nostalgia for me 🥲 it was so impactful to witness my favorite PlayStation characters out there. As well hearing the music score called “Inhuman” is a nice touch for this battle. So I hope next battle be mind blowing for watching as Freza and Megatron are the two baddies that no one wasn’t expecting to see work in a death battle. With all said, I hope you two give a chance to watch Infamous 1 and 2 cutscenes and play Infamous Second Sons/First Light as they are amazing games that spark a Comic Book Video Game 😄 or you two can try Prototype 1 and 2 if you wanting a Edgy Gaming experience with Alex Mercer to James Heller within the games.

I think you guys would love not only the cutscenes from the first two infamous games but also the gameplay. It's super fun and i still call it to be in my top 3 games of all time (the second game that is). But i would love to see you guys react to the first two games

My two favorite games that I wished got 3rd sequels about them again. Fun Fact they did had an idea for the 3rd game where Alex would pull himself off of James. Fans speculated that since Alex had years with this and is the embodiment of the virus himself. And the villain of the 3rd game would have been Pariah: Elizabeth Greene's child who was born with the infection so he is a natural born virus and may have been stronger then Alex. But sadly the game wasn't made.

​@@arkauthorThe only way for Cole to be alive is for him to be cannonically evil, and if he is, he's by far the strongest being on Earth. They would have to make him the final boss (like Alex in Prototype 2) and fans would probably not like that very much. More Infamous games could be made (they almost certainly won't be because Sucler Punch have no intention of returning to their old series), but they wouldn't be likely to include Cole. For Cole's story to continue Infamous 2 would have to be rewritten.

I wish Activision would make another Prototype game. I love that series. Infamous is great too, but I love Prototype more. This battle is legendary. Love your content.

This Death Battle was amazing! Not sure if you both heard of the game Ghost of Tsushima, but the same developers worked on the first Infamous games long ago. The first two Infamous games were great! Excellent stories and twist. I don't know much about Prototype, but it kind of reminds me of the world Wesker wanted to see in Resident Evil 5, with a hint of the symbiote lol. Regardless, looking forward to this reaction

I remember when these games came out and so many people debated who would win between cole and alex. I was always on Team Cole mostly because I thought Infamous was a better game and Cole was a better character than Alex lol.

Guys, I think we have a problem. In CGI/3D Death Battles there are moments where the animation slows down. I don't know if it's just me because I don't see anyone else commenting on it. I just wanted to inform you.

There's an anime this season you might like called 'Frieren: Beyond Journey's End'. There's also a couple anime coming out next year that I'm looking forward to, but you might not be into: 'Solo Leveling' and 'Go! Go! Loser Ranger!'

Originally, the canonical ending to 'Infamous 2' was the evil ending, where Cole becomes 'The Beast', allowing Conduits to become the dominant species on the planet. Which is why there are still conduits in 'Infamous: Second Sons'. However, so many people played the good ending that Rockstar Games made the good ending canonical, even though it makes no sense.

Agreed but the ending does make sense. It only killed present conduits. It didn’t stop people from being born with the conduit gene.

@@DHworldwide185 That not what happened. It killed 90% of all conduits. 10% of Conduits were able to survive because their conduit gene super evolve to combat the RFI effects. Which just shows how powerful the Conduit gene is. This super evolution also activated their powers without the need of a Ray Sphere blast. All Conduits in the squeal (Infamous: Second Son) were already born pre RFI activation.

A part they left out of Coles run down was that Kessler murdered Coles girlfriend, Trish, in order to remove all emotional attachment from Coles life. By tying her and several doctors that could save dozens of lives to two seperate buildings, Kessler makes you decide which choice is more important. Whichever choice you make, Trish dies. If you choose the doctors, she falls to her death. If you choose her, you find Kessler replaced her with a double and she was with the doctors after all.
