Awesome information, Verity! I have the semis in my sights now and the 12-month plan is is focused on winning at the District level in 2025. I’m working on a contest speech that has done well so far 2nd in D45) but it needs work. It’s gratifying to hear you worked diligently on two speeches for 7 months to achieve your excellence. That’s a process I will emulate while I’m gaining the feedback necessary to make it the very best it can be. In 5-7, no word can be anything but strategic and placed specifically for maximum impact. That’s the challenge, at this point, to “kill my darlings” and focus on elegant simplicity. Man, it’s HARD to edit a speech.

Great advice and you can adapt this to many things. Take Time. Journal your process which means a lot of self reflection and time to think. And don't do things by yourself. You rock Verity.
