Deanna Cook’s 911 call spurs change to Texas emergency system

Every year 240 million calls are made to 911. And oftentimes that conversation can be the difference between life and death. Such was the case when Deanna Cook picked up her cellphone and frantically pushed those three buttons. More: bit.ly/2kHvFdT

@Salvatore Salerno One, everyone in the video is black. Two, it's dispatch's job to dispatch police on an emergency phone call. Not after hearing her being murdered and THEN fifteen minutes of silence. That's all on the phone call. Besides homicidal negligence, that's bad procedure. How about when he says "where are the police" the dispatcher piped up and said YEAH WE'RE HERE WE'RE ON THE WAY. JFC people like you expect more out of criminals and fast food workers than police.

@@jays-move8803 She did send police, but also clearly understated the gravity of the situation and wasted time asking stupid questions when the victim obviously was in the process of being attacked and couldn't answer and then it seems like she never properly communicated how serious and urgent the situation was to police. So it was definitely negligence on her part. I do wonder if she should be in jailed or fined. I don't think I agree she deserves murder though... I also think it was negligence on the part of police for taking FIFTY whole minutes to arrive on the scene and then not even going inside. Everybody involved failed her so much. Such a horrifying story :/

Joseph Honey, you need Jesus and I’m going to pray for you. Just know this black women did not deserve to die to any race of color and those operators played a huge part in a death that could’ve been avoided hundreds of times. It doesn’t matter what race they were, they simply didn’t do their job ESPECIALLY the police officer that just knocked and went back to his car. Everything isn’t race-tied you know but a lot of people hold prejudices against African Americans to this day, the KKK is still running strong so if people do make it about race and what color they were I don’t blame them because in many cases White (Officers/Operators) do discriminate against Black people and to other races that aren’t theirs!

Suh Dude I have heard that sometimes they don't say anything because they don't want the attacker to know that the victim has called 911 ( for fear that it will anger them more or that they will be lying in wait when police show up ). In my opinion, I think that maybe it would scare them and run them off but what do I know. My sister used to be a 911 dispatcher and has told me that in different states they are taught to do it different ways. For instance, I don't recall which was which but I know that OH and NC have different rules regarding situations like that.

Think. 99.9999% if not 100% of the time- several make a speech of how great that person was...how they lit up a room...They talk about us loving one another more and more to keep close to the friends and family we love....Then a week or two later every one is back at their normal routine ..they quickly go back to what they are used to. Look at what is going on. There are alll kinds of people who have been racially profiled and killed. Yet because A person wears a blue uniform they are not subject to the punishment anyone else would receive. I dc what the title or how many degreees you have or what dept you work for. Then the us begins to kneel for change PEACEFULLY and THAT is an issue. You then have more and more people die...and the U.S wants to shoot, set off smoke bombs..tear gas...and beat others with Batons for reacting to actions that are intolerable?!!?!!! Change is a state of mind. Being mindful of what we want in life. Should we seek change we must be the change period.
