I love how wholesome this actually is, and also how everything here is written explicitly for a very small audience.

I come back here just to laugh at the "Mommy? ... PROGRESSIVE ROCK!" line. It is also fantastic that the musical references are spot on. Although In the Court of the Crimson King is relatively easy album compared to Area's Crac! or Magma's Üdü wüdü. I wonder how bad a Magma scientist can be?

I love how thrilled Dean is to be doing something as mundane as listening to a prog rock album he really likes. Something I've noticed while reflecting on the show is how both of the titular brothers have this boyish enthusiasm about everything they do that makes them endearing to me. They're so sweet and good-natured that it makes me feel sort of bad that they die so often.
@maxwellwagoner-watts4747
Жыл бұрын
They are good natured and sweet because they are innocent. They are perpetual children and you notice in the last two seasons as they live longer than they ever have they both become substantially more jaded.
@greasemonkey6359
Жыл бұрын
@@maxwellwagoner-watts4747 Not necessarily. You just see them respond to their world differently. Dean, being closer to his father but wanting to avoid science, is the one to become more cynical and jaded. Hank, on the other hand, was closer to Brock and wanted to take after him, so he stays adventurous through the final seasons. I think it's a situation of Dean becoming a cynic and Hank becoming a knowledgable optimist: they used to be identical, but growing up and seeing how screwy their world is, now they're foils that help to outline each other's strengths and weaknesses.

To those wondering what the music is: It's an original track by the composer of most of the show's music, JG Thirlwell, and he's obviously imitating Yes. For those who looked at the album art, the logo, and trying to find the damn song....well, I looked through the internet, looked at comments from self proclaimed prog rock experts...and here's some things to know...There is literally no band with that logo or art...Yes the art looks like an actual legit Roger Dean print, they probably got the guy to make one for the show...But the logo threw me off there until someone pointed out that it looked like the "Asia" logo, only altered somewhat through photoshop and maybe some of Roger Dean's actual handywork, won't know unless someone asks him and from my point of view, the logo looks like some of Pink Floyd and National Health was thrown in there as well...and the song itself is completely original from the network creative instead of an actual band...Probably just to mimic the music of Prog Rock itself...And the fact that Rusty brought up "Bruford" as in Bill Bruford, the drummer for a number of bands, but most importantly Yes and King Crimson, and alluding to his existence, drummer for this song....So for those who wanted to waste their time trying to find an answer to this question, I've done it for you so you won't have to

I feel like the song is Tempus Fugit, especially that few seconds when he first drops the needle.
“Just say… YES…” I get the joke now
It was this moment that made me love this show, when they mentioned King Crimson, then he tells him "you're not ready to step in the court of the crimson kings yet" i was fucking dead because its so true, i recently got to see them live in Austin 2017 which i never thought would happen, & then when he goes through sacred geometry trip i was like wtf is this show "i love it" been hooked ever since!
The album cover and the song are both "spoofs". You will never find them no matter how hard you search.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO😢😢😢😢
As someone who owns Court of the Crimson King on vinyl, I understand where Doc is coming from. Listen to 21st Century Schizoid man on crisp and clean Vinyl, And you’ll never see things the same
"Oh no! He's stuck in a Floyd hole!"
Throw in some Gentle Giant
I concur. Definitely seems they were alluding to CTTE with the actual music playing, but the album that can be seen in the crate seems to be an amalgamation of Fragile, Tales from Topographic Oceans, and even Drama.

Wow I love Drama, where is it in the video?
Loved this XD
I started on King Crimson's "Discipline" so I really don't know what that says about me
Plays Gentle Giant!
I don't know if "In The Court Of The Crimson King" would have turned him into a mad scientist. 21st century schizoid man and the court of the crimson king is pretty crazy but Epitaph is like an anti super science song.
Don't wanna snap your wrist air drumming to Bruford. Great!
“And no air drumming this time, Bruford can change the timing up so fast it can snap your wrist” 😂😂😂❤❤ so true
king crimson and good ole yes excellent choices
Rusty has his flaws - too many to count, to be perfectly honest - but you cannot fault the man for his taste in music. Man has class.
