This poor Woman is just worn out financially and emotionally over her divorce and the house fire! I can hear it in her voice! I've been there and brought back souvenirs too!!

And that is often when you are at the lowest.
Great response. No sense beating yourself over the past, it was a lesson. Learn from past mistakes. Treat yourself as well as you would treat your best friend in tough times. I love this quote: "Once you know better, you do better!" - Maya Angalou
I love how Dave handled this. She just needed some encouragement that she's on the right track and keep up the good work. Sometimes we just need a reminder not to get weary in well doing. :)
I can respect Dave because he actually can relate to making poor decisions with money and suffering loss because of it and overcoming it
I seriously needed to hear this. Thank you so much for not only being so encouraging but also sharing your own experiences. I don’t feel so alone.
Tuition to the school of life! Uhhh that phrase just made me feel so much better! Thank you Dave!
Very wise answer. I often feel guilt but this is a good lesson
This is a message I really needed to hear. When I heard this woman say she was afraid of making the same mistakes again, I almost cried because those same words have come out of my own mouth. I have made tons of mistakes with money over the years, and I'm constantly afraid of losing sight of my goals and going against my good judgment yet again. It's happened more times than I want to admit. So when Dave reminded her that she was on the right path and told her he believed she'd learned her lesson, I felt like he was talking to me, too. He gave me hope that maybe I really have learned my lessons and can move forward this year, not letting my own insecurities get the best of me. It has taken me a long time to learn to celebrate my accomplishments and remind myself I'm not a failure. Thank you, Dave Ramsey!
Man I never thought people had it so bad with money control till I saw this show, My family were so frugal, and I've always thought everyone was like us. I knew some people had credit card debt but my friends rarely discussed that with me

Lol same. Really opened my eyes, so interesting.
Dave was so awesome here
You are very wise. I sent this link to my husband who is having trouble forgiving himself. Hopefully he will listen to the lesson. Thanks Dave
I hope this lady is doing good she sounded so scared and Dave gave good needed advice like a truly trusted smart family member would give.she sounded so genuinely happy he offered her help.being scared is hard especially when on your own after you have been in a partnership ..i missed having someone who cares and can see a different view maybe. I'm glad she's ok...quite horrifying the amount of homes that were lossed ,glad she's safe and hope the others were too.
thank you, Dave. I'm 24 and fudged up this whole last year. your advice gave me the self-compassion, encouragement, and hope I needed to carry on.
Dave you just helped me get over a financial loss that was really bothering me, I appreciate it.
Thank you for publishing this phone call. Thank you.
I’m going through a similar situation I’m stressed out hurting emotionally left an abusive household spending money to relieve stress . Rent is due every week all my money goes towards anything extra I have I spend it it’s hard I’m stressed and warn out with this situation. I lost everything and now find myself in this situation I keep running out of money I’m in a headache I was feeling so ashamed but I learned and I’m done I’m so glad he is so nice and genuine and reassurance ♥️🙏🏾
Usually people say Dave shames people, but this was just really wholesome & great guidance
I was needing this video... I've been self-medicating with shopping
Great advice!! I have Shanna's same issue. I overspend and put us in financial ruins. And, as always, you gave great advice.
I know her feeling all to well.

I still feel guilty for financing a brand new car at 19 and then selling it a year later and financing another much more expensive car. I lost so much money. But I’ve learnt my lesson and have a car that I don’t like but it’s paid for, and that’s more important than liking what I drive.

I’ve been there too, driven by my low self-esteem and wanting to show off to others. Don’t sweat it.
I'm here after losing 50% of my annual salary on futures and options.

Same here man. Lost 65k and did something I knew was risky and lesson learned. After bankruptcy, I will never get unfocused again trying to get fast money and start focusing more on quality time with my family and my health.
I completely understand this! Bless her heart, brave women to confess this! DAVE RAMSEY is the BEST!!
I just did the same thing and this was perfect.
this was so good to hear!
Perfect this is so good thank you Dave!!
Dave dealt with this really well!
I hope she’s doing well now. She went through the ringer and sounds like a very thoughtful person.
Needed to hear this
Conviction is when you know you've done something wrong. Condemnation is when your think you ARE something wrong.
I know exactly what she means I feel the same way now! Once the money is my hands again I’m be afraid I’ll do it again! 😢I went through a break up as well and had to sell my house! Omg 😱 almost the same story!
I love DAVE!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thank You
As long as she pays her debts she will no longer doing it again.
A house fire would actually be a good place to start over & not have to deal with all the stuff you really didn't need didn't want to sell. Whoosh! the hard part is done for you now just put the insurance money in the bank & travel light for the rest of your life.
I’ve made countless money mistakes. But I must fight another day. I have no other choice. Do I kick myself ? Sure.
I can relate to this.
This woman sounds like me. I have to put my money into a separate holiday account where I don't get a hold of it. I also deposit more money into it and the bank releases it on the first of November. Then redo everything again without touching a dime. And I earn interests on what I have every month
Wow 🙌🏾
So how do you deal with the guilt of feeling like you don't deserve anything because you messed up so bad financially that you were almost evicted and had to have family bail you out? I am taking steps to correct this, but I still feel like I, don't deserve anything "extra" and giving up things that I enjoy that cost money, at least until I can get my family paid back...looking for an additional part time job (feel like I need to work 24/7 though), working with a money mentor to get my finances on track, have already established almost 2 months of rent as a cushion for when my housing grant runs out, paid off my one small secured credit card, withdrawing from a few activities that I have paid for (running in a 10k race--distsnce, NOT money), withdrawing from ice skating for the rest of the semester (rink closes for the summer in a few weeks), etc. It's all so overwhelming that my depression and anxiety is really high. Plus, I feel like I have destroyed my family's trust, as we have literally gotten into a yelling argument over priorities. It just feels like this is not gonna end.
Tuition to the school of life.
She was asking from the start for free financial university. So obvious
I paid that tuition too
relevant in 2023
Waterboy moment there at the end.
"Another settlement coming"... No details on that. Does she feel guilt about this coming money?

Just imagining what the ex is going through. Probably on the street payig her off.
doesnt sound well when Dave says his wife was going to leave him when he hit rock bottom, makes it sound like she is good as long as there is lot of money

the past is in the past.
If she hadn't gotten divorced, she'd be fine financially.
@arthrodea

The problem with that statement is we don't know her circumstances. Being better off financially might not have not have been a good tradeoff for staying married in a horrible situation. Perhaps the divorce was over stupid reasons.... but perhaps she was leaving an abusive relationship or there was infidelity or her husband was molesting children... There are valid reasons to get a divorce.
TD Bank in Canada, "somehow" lost 200,000+ from my accounts in 2020. My inner voice didn't warn me. Not even a clue. I just got blind sided. Warning: do not invest with TD Bank.

She just wanted a free class. Nothing Dave told her made her feel any better until the free class came up and then boom, like magic she has all her confidence and is already looking forward to helping someone else in the future.... 30 seconds ago she was worried she had no future... but what do I care, hope it helps her and Dave is awesome!

Why I loose control on myself when I lose money? How to control emotions of lose?
She took her husbands house and wasted his money and now she`s going to do it again with the next free money from him.

In a marriage, a home is joint property! She did not "take" anything! Probabably got it in a divorce settlement and was forced to sell it!

Debit cards 'invade' your checking account.
Is this how your husband dealt with losing the house to you?
I bet this woman's negligence with finances caused her divorce. She will do it again. They always do
