Money Shame: The Silent Killer | Tammy Lally | TEDxOrlando

We're conditioned to not talk about personal finances, but for many people, confronting their own personal money struggles can be a matter of survival. Tammy Lally, a professional money coach, shares her own family's story along with suggestions for how to confront one's own personal "Money Shame." As a Certified Money Coach and Financial Planner, Tammy Lally helps couples and individuals achieve financial health and freedom. Through a distinctive blend of financial knowledge, psychology, spirituality, and her personal experience and healing of money shame, Tammy teaches how to change what keeps people broken and broke - in their relationship with money, by digging in, questioning, and owning their money beliefs and behaviors and the impact they have on their financial, social, emotional and spiritual well-being.
Tammy received her formal coach training and certification from The Money Coaching Institute and has over 16 years of experience in the financial industry. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I cried so much watching this. Money shame has surrounded me for the last 20 years. It has destroyed me, especially with someone who has ADHD.

Well this is the video i was hoping to find on shame and money. It fits what I have been dealing with since I was 3 years old. At 58 years of age..it still effects me emotionally and financially. Shame is a silent virus. Thank you for your bravery in sharing your story.

"If you have debt, you have not forgiven..." This statement hit me on the side of my head like a brick! Kudos to Tammy Lally to do the work and change the money-shame cycle.

I agree. That one statement sums up my 20+ years of battling a seemingly endless amount of petty debt. Now I get it...forgiving myself is the key to letting that ghost go.

Hearing that story about your brother broke my heart and brought me to tears. I also have alot of shame around my finances, and I felt myself tense up when you explained that conversation with your brother and his wife around creating a budget. This talk has really brought to light how deep my shame around money is, and how it's time for me to heal it.

Money shame. Where do you get your money from & how? Was it coming from a person with righteous ways? If it's not righteous do you try to make it?

Don't drill me too hard as I'm a 🐣🦈? I like to think out of the box. Because if things aren't working in a lot of areas. We need to think outside the box. Why the continuous failures

ha ha ends with shaming. perfect. always come to ted for comedy. I just want a house so I can take care of things. wtf is greed anyway? what do people do if all the things are being done? what do you do if the things you want to do cost money? tools, art? like, what? what?! this video solves nothing. does this person know people are wealthy beyond belief and could even solve all this. show me an alternative
