Deadpool (2016) | Wife's First Time Watching | Movie Reaction

Ойын-сауық

With Deadpool 3 recently announced, I'd really like to check that one out in theaters so I decided to see how Toni did with the first one. If you've been around the channel for a while and have seen our reaction to "Bad Santa", I think you can already guess but I give Toni credit for giving it a go! Definitely not her favorite movie but it was fun to watch with her.

Funniest part to me is the fact that Deadpool is going around asking everyone "Where is Francis?" and none of them know Francis by that name. They know him as Ajax.

@@popculturallychallenged Officially it's not a S.H.I.E.L.D. heli-carrier. Since Deadpool was made by Fox, the first two movies don't count as part of the MCU. In this reality, for legal reasons, other people also have heli-carriers.

"You will come talk with Professor Xavier." "McAvoy or Stewart? These timelines can get so confusing." Fun Fact: While filming, Ryan Reynolds visited sick kids, via Make-A-Wish foundation, as Deadpool. Art Imitates Life Fact: Ryan Reynolds revealed that the taxi driver character Dopinder (Karan Soni) was named after "a really cool guy" he knew in elementary school who died when hit by lightning. The character was meant to be a tribute to him. Not A CGI Costume Fact: The Deadpool costume originally had a muscle layer underneath but it had to be removed. Ryan Reynolds was so muscular, the costume was not only too tight for him, but it made him look overlarge. Ryan Reynolds was allowed to keep his Deadpool costume after filming had completed. Technically he didn't ask to, nor did he give anyone the chance to take it from him. When 20th Century Fox found out about this, the studio just let him keep it. Jump Starter Fact: A three-minute test reel was shot in January 2012 in an attempt to convince the heads of the studio to move forward with the movie. On August 1, 2014, the footage was released (aka: LEAKED) to the public and, based on the overwhelmingly positive response from fans, the film finally began production. The footage was so popular that part of it was recreated for the actual film. This included the opening scene with Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) on the highway which leads to the fight scene in the car.

It's not explained in the films, but the treatment that made Wade immortal also made his cancer immortal, so it regenerates as fast as his body kills it. His own regeneration responded by pushing it away from his vital organs ... and into his skin. So he's healthy inside but with incurable skin cancer all over.

The skin thing is never fully explained in the movie, but in the comics is basically explained as his healing factor regenerates his cells, which in turn regenerates his cancer, and the two are always fighting in a balance. His cancer is always multiplying and his healing factor always stops him from dying. The mottled skin is actually cancerous skin, it covers his whole body. It has been implied in the past that his humour is just to help him cope with how much pain he is always in.

@@popculturallychallenged I love how down to earth you are. There is a movie very rarely reacted to because it's very difficult to find. I personally think you would both love it. So... If you can find The Fall (2006) by Tarsem Singh... I GUARANTEE you will find it is a great movie for the both of you. It's not horror or crude humor. It's been in my top 5 movies of all time since I saw it. I found it at my local library due to it's rarity. Luckily I came across a copy at a yard sale. Go in blind. I know you will both enjoy the story.

30:14 Its not a Helicarrier but its supposed to be a Helicarrier but its not. ;) * "No, it's clearly not the Helicarrier," Miller said with a smirk to Collider. "I just want to say for the record, there's a lot of groups in the Marvel universe who use flying combat platforms. It's not just the Helicarrier. A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics) has some. It could have been anything but a S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. Because that would be outside of the purview of the Fox/Marvel arrangement." -Tim Miller

Superhero movies: The Shadow ('93) The Phantom ('95) Superman (Christopher Reeve of course) Doc Savage (hero but not superhero) Howard The Duck (weird but fun) Flash Gordon Buckaroo Bonzai Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (80's) Buffy the Vampire Slayer ('92)

It’s funny Ryan Reynolds was born to play Deadpool. Kinda like how Samuel Jackson was to model for Nick Fury. 25:39 that was a dig at 20th Century Fox cause they didn’t want to make the movie. They paid for test footage and planned to shelve it but it got “leaked” and they had to make it cause of all the fan base taking about it. They didn’t give it a big budget and wouldn’t pay the writers to be on set for any changes so Ryan Reynolds paid the writers to come out. 27:37 check out the “I” in Francis. Deadpool left a special message for Francis. 30:17 it’s supposed to be like the Helicarriers in the MCU but couldn’t say it was cause they are two different properties. Now that Disney bought 20 Century Fox and gave Marvel back the characters that Fox had licensed from Marvel they can now use and refer to them in other films now. I think Sony is the only one now that still has exclusive rights to some Marvel characters.

His skin is a result of his mutation in this movie. his healing can't fix it because it's something that it caused basically. In the comics he looks like that because he still has cancer, but his healing keeps him alive, even while the cancer grows so he's basically a walking talking tumor.

I like Deadpool #1 very much, despite some misgivings. I like that the writers alluded to the IDF's genocidal practice of "mowing the lawn" -- it was cryptic, but significant, just as Wade's distaste for special-ops soldiering was significant (the modern version of soldiering being going to other, relatively defenseless nations and butchering civilians -- or maybe you don't know as many OIF veterans as I do). But regardless of how much I enjoy DP #1 (especially the scenes with Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead vs. Angel), I would never drag my wife or mom or sister to this film, or contemplate making them watch it with me at home. My taste is my own, and I don't require my loved ones to share it -- or suffer through it, as Toni clearly did. That said, I realize this is a job for you two, and employment usually means doing things one doesn't particularly enjoy. My suggestion: You two charming folks should take turns asking one another to expand his/her cinema horizons. For every Deadpool or Airplane you endure, there should also be an Enchanted April or Amadeus. Share the wealth/pain -- the key to a successful marriage!
