World's Most Dangerous Roads: Deadliest Journeys in Colombia & Venezuela 2016
Deadliest Roads - Argentina: • Deadliest Roads | Arge...
It’s a no-man’s land of 2200km in height in the middle of the jungle, dominated by the Andes Mountains. The ever-uncontrollable border between Columbia and Venezuela. It’s a paradise for cartels, except here, it’s not the traffic of cocaine, but of petrol. Venezuela is the country of black gold, home to one quarter of the world’s petrol reserves. With the fall in the price of petrol, the economy has collapsed, and Venezuelans are now spread as thinly as ever. Many have been retrained in the traffic of petrol. After buying the fuel in Venezuela, they then re-sell it at thirty times the price in Columbia… Everyday they cross the border on foot, lugging 50-litre tanks on their backs. This is a high-risk form of trafficking, as on the other side of the border lies the Venezuelan military, all too ready to fire. This is the first time cameras have been able to film these smugglers of a whole new genre, and they are not given the warmest welcome…

Full Length Version Deadliest Roads Colombia Venezuela We are in and around the border town of Cuestecitas, Colombia. 748 km (465 miles) north of Bogotá, Colombia's capital. It used to be a town full of hope for the future, progress, a better life for its children. A lot has changed. The people have lost some of that hope and have no illusions, things will improve anytime soon. Yet, despite all the setbacks, it is the children attending school, walking for miles, that give people, the families, the friends, the community, strength to carry on. Join us on this journey of Deadliest Roads Colombia and Venezuela. It's become a no man's land - at times, in the middle of the jungle, fleeing through the desert, crouching in the wild, all the while dominated by the Andes Mountains. The porous border between Colombia and Venezuela. It's a paradise for the gasoline cartels. Instead of cocaine, the contraband is petrol. Venezuela, famously, has huge oil reserves - a quarter of the world's reserves. Since the price of gasoline or petrol (as the Brits and Aussies call it) has fallen steadily, most dramatically during 2020 aka the year of the pandemic, the Venezuelan economy has collapsed. The situation there is dire and worse than even we are able to show in our doc which was filmed pre-pandemic. So, if the option presents itself, what will you do to put food on the table for your kids? Almost anything. So many have turned to smuggling gasoline across the border. Fuel is purchased in Venezuela, smuggled across the border into Colombia where it's sold for 30 times the price. The smugglers cross the border daily - on foot, with mopeds, on trucks - while trying to avoid the notorious Venezuelan Military patrols. Not always possible. A high-risk undertaking. This is the first time cameras have been able to capture this venture and newest addition to a valuable trafficking product. Needless to say, the crew wasn't given the warmest of welcomes. The shoot wasn't the only dangerous road we drove down. We released a 26 minute version earlier this year. This is the full-length version at 52 minutes. Enjoy all you lovelies Available Worldwide
