World's Most Dangerous Roads - Tajikistan - Ice Death

A mythical road built by the Soviets to open up the Pamir region and subject it to the rule of the Empire. A daring journey suspended between earth and sky on what the Tajiks call the “roof of the world”. But since the Russians left in 1991, the road has not been maintained. The Pamir Highway is the route of all dangers: Rock falls, landslides, fords ... 900 kilometers on the side of the ravine.
Director: Daniel Lainé, David Geoffrion

Good thing diesel has a high flashpoint. Our JP-5 that we use in our Naval aircraft and in support equipment is a type of diesel, for the most part you can throw lit matches into a large pan of it and it won't catch on fire. But if you have enough fumes coming off of it on a hot day, it will. 😁

Tajikistan is the worst of them. Without much of natural resource, and foreign investment, there aren't many opportunity there. A quarter of the male working population is working as cheap labour in Russia, sending remittance back to Tajikistan. The total annual remittance equals almost to half of the country's GDP. Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan are doing better, as they are the major producers of cotton, and fall in to part of China's Belt and Road Initiative. And Kazakhstan has load of coal, gas and oil. Yes, Kazakhstan is doing a lot better than many developing countries.

Almost none of the republics faired well after the collapse. With a centralized government, most of the production and manufacturing was in Russia. Construction equipment, materials, expertise were brought to places like this to build infrastructure. Once the USSR fell apart, the newly formed countries had no access to the industrial capacity of Russia. They can't even maintain what was built 60 years ago. Similar situation in African countries, after the Europeans have left.

Kamaz trucks last a long time. But thats altso cause they have abyssmal performance. A simlar Scania engine gives you 500 horsepower, while Kamaz gives 350 horsepower. Kamaz uses more fuel and has way less torque. If you underpower the Scania engine to those specs, it will altso last alot longer.

Corruption, lack of National interest and Self Desire by the Government are the things which is stopping this country to flourish, Fortunately we have a Great leader after 2014, who is showing us the way, Otherwise we would have been the Same. I am from India and I remember that we had the same problem such as underdeveloped infrastructure, Mismanagement. Corruption, Poverty and and Absolutely no interest about public welfare is what made us the underdeveloped. Fortunately we have a stable Government now who is looking the matters aa if this is the matter of their own interest.
