Thank you! I never got a formal electronics education, and because of that, I believe I have a very unusual way of diagnosing boards that is unconventional. See what gets hotter than it should, and visual inspections are 2 of my most common techniques. I never get access to service manuals, so usually I have to learn the boards from scratch. Of course once you do a few repairs on the same board, you start to pick up patterns and what not.

Sir, will you please make a video on the tools which are commonly used in your repair. also, I am a big fan of yours and your work is very good and the way you explained the videos

Haha good old repair music. No, this one was filmed a bit later in the week and I wasn't able to get my guy that usually does the editing to work on it, he is the one with all the repair music.

Hello kind sir, If by any chance can you please tell me if there is a fix for my tv....so long short story: My tv samsung ue55mu suddenly stopped working, my power supply was good and I ordered a new mainboard. Now the tv turns on stays on but black screen, just sound...for few minutes I had lines across the screen and after that didn't want to show anything. It may be the t con board or is it time to say goodbye to the tv? Thank you very much

Hi Nick thanks for all the videos and information. I have an issue with my panasonic th55ex600, i assume its the backlight leds, there's some discolouration blotches on the screen , either purple or blue depending on the picture, similar to purity spots on a crt tv.. I am a technician from the crt days, but have limited flat panel repair experience. Any advice would be much appreciated. Regards stormer🇦🇺 .

On some LED TV sets, when the LEDs themselves start to fail they can produce a blue/purple color before completely going out. It will get worse over time until it's really not watchable anymore. What you are describing is exactly that. I saw on eBay that you can get a replacement set of strips for about $30 with free shipping, but it's coming from China so it most likely will take 2 weeks for the parts to arrive. You might be able to get them faster from a USA vendor but it will be more expensive. I don't have any LED strip installation videos at this time as there are already lots of them out there.

@@NicksTVRepair thanks Nick, it definitely does sound like that, I know they are a bit of a job to replace, I will probably do it even though the operating system in this panasonic is a little dated, Panasonic's are fairly reliable.. the backlight has been like this for a while.. Its still watchable but it's not a great picture. I will look them up on ebay, thanks for the advice. Best Regards stormer

AP-P288AM POWER SUPPLY FOR SONY KD-65XG8505 No 3.3V no 12V etc I've tried disconnecting everything 1 by 1 Still no voltage all fuses are good. The IC that you replaced you mentioned its connected to the 3.3V line I have 2 similar ICs on my board I'm wondering if I just replace them to see if the 3.3V comes back.

While the TV you are working on is very different than the one I am working on in this video it is possible that the same chip is having issues. Make sure the part number of your replacement component is an exact match with the one on the board. For Sony power supply board failures, it is common to see shorted diodes. I would recommend checking all diodes on your board for shorts.

I bought an old Sony 55x90j TV but it flashes 8 red lights, please tell me what I need to fix . Thank you

8 blinks can often be a mainboard fault, but I have also seen it be due to a damaged LVDS ribbon. If you installed a new mainboard and got the 8 blinks after the replacement then most likely the issue is the ribbon. If the TV has not had parts replaced in the past, then most likely the fault is due to the mainboard failing. We do offer a flat rate service for it which comes with a 1-year warranty.
