As a kid, I made the mistake of watching this movie with my uncle and aunt. The guy genuienly creeped me out and now this music along with him just walking/floating towards you all stiff is not helping me...

As a kid i was more focused on movies like Halloween, Scream, Nightmare on Elm St. and all these famous slashers in the early 2010's. I only noticed pinhead trough thumbnails and adds, but i never really watched the movie. There aren't many Horror Movies nowadays that terrify me, but you can definitely count in the Hellraiser franchise.

Fun fact: when Clive Barker was directing Doug Bradley's scenes at Pinhead, Barker would keep interrupting Bradley to say "do less" over and over to the point that we got the resulting Pinhead deadpan voice and minimal behavior.

Doctor's music is trash and needs to be replaced but otherwise I agree. Art team also always kills it. Map design is what holds the game back. I'd say the balance team is even pretty good but map design is atrocious and what gives off the illusion of the game being more unbalanced than it is

It's not really scary after the first hour or two, I see this has something I play for fun and when I play as Doctor the chase music annoys the hell out of me. When I play against him I find it loud and obnoxious. Doctor is like the second least scary killer, he's just training wheels mode for people who don't have any tracking ability or map awareness and need the game to find the survivors for them. His power is agitating in a chase, his add-ons are overtuned and his music is abhorrently bad. Doctor is just obnoxious. He doesn't scare me at all. Most of the time when I go against doctor, I get screwed over by map design more than his actual skill level, since I've still yet to see an actual good doctor player after 5 years on the game lol

The movie makes this choice in music make sense. Pinhead had a great actor that made him suitably threatening. He also had a habit of just showing up out of nowhere to threaten the protagonist and play cat and mouse--inescapable and unstoppable.

I've never watched Hellraiser, however my mom and her friend said they went to a horror house with her friends little sister, and my mom told me that when her friends sister saw Pinhead she had literally pissed herself. In short her friend felt like the worst sibling in the world 💀💖.

Nobody is probably going to see this comment because this video came out a while ago, but i've been coming back to this song because it makes so much sense for pinhead. The first layer of the music is almost curious sounding, which fits pinhead because the cenobites proclaim themselves as "Explorers of pain" it also kind of of gives the sense of exploring something and finding the Lament configuration. Then the music ramps up as you begin kind of fiddling with it, and eventually solve it. The cenobites are summoned, and you're afraid but curious, like them. Then the music would get terrifying and intense because their true motives are revealed and they begin their attack. This probably makes like, zero sense but i had this idea in the back of my mind and it just makes me appreciate this song so much

if i listen VERY close at 2:00 i can softly hear the torture pillars spinning like in the movie

this is so good but almost unpleasant to listen to because of how creepy it is. you know youve done something well when you can achieve that. i do gotta say the chase is bangin

I can understand why some people maybe don't like this one but it's perfect for the context of the film. In Hellraiser the cenobites don't really hunt or chase, only want people who open the box. Instead of a chases, its more a feeling that the characters are trying to delay something inevitable (the scene where Kirsty opens the box is incredible imo, it shows what I mean). I love how well this music goes with that idea, your character has fucked up and has gone too far into something they can't back out of

Thats a great way to put it and I agree. You're not being chased by something that wants to kill you - you've summoned the power of the Leviathan upon yourself. The choir especially adds to the religious terror of the song

@get bamboozled yeah to be fair, chris probably wouldnt work since he doesnt have any unique power, I can possibly see Trager or Walrider being suitable for dbd. I reckon bhvr have definitely considered it before because Outlast is pretty well known as one of the greats in horror, up there with Amnesia.

And on how this perfectly captures Pinhead in Hellraisers 1 and 2. A neutral entity who only goes after the ones that open the box (or goes after the ones that forced the person who opened it, Tiffany with the doctor in hellraiser 2) I really wish we had Kirsty or Tiffany as a survivor and the Labyrinth as a map. But oh well

One of my favorite chase themes

This music has a gothic and epic underscore to it. Definitely fits Pinhead!

I mostly only hear my heartbeat when he's 32 meters away from me and my mind goes like, "Why do I hear heartbeat? It's so silent." , "Maybe he's nearby", "Who is this Killer?". That makes him even way scarier to face against.

So far he’s got my favorite chase music to date. It’s amazing how good it is. I hope they release an updated soundtrack down the road with the extra music they’ve made for the game on it since they’ve been adding characters 🤞

This might be the best terror radius with the dredge for the purpose of a scary theme and a scary chase theme, there are others I like more like Wesker's chase theme, but this? This is actually scary, it's not like something that you can jam to like the other chase themes, this is a "you need to get the hell away. As fast as you can."
