Better than the Deutschlandlied

This is as beautiful as the anthem of the DPRK. Never mentions communism, only mentions Germany, not East or West. It's so nostalgic and would make me tear up. 10/10.

The best version I have found of this anthem yet!

(Sorry, I don't speak German, but I get the gist of what was said). It makes sense. When the lyrics were dropped in the 70s, it was because of the Basic Treaty, when it was assumed by both the FRG and the GDR that German division would be the permanent status quo, so any talk of German unity was just wishful thinking. Then, after the fall of the Wall, and the reforms, German unity went from a pipe dream to an eventual reality. By 1990, unification was imminent, so the lyrics were reinstated.

Diese Hymne hat symphonische Qualitäten, für sich genommen schon sehr sehr hörenswert, würde die gerne exakt so gut wie arrangiert mal neu vom Gewandhausorchester live hören. Das wäre schön.

Это очень мило, но грустный гимн Детство наших восточногерманских и советских детей прошло умерло несколько наших прабабушек и прадедушек. Бабушки и Дедушки были молоды. Помню эти времена 40х50х60х70х80х90х.В 1949 Единая Германия распалась на ФРГ и ГДР. В 1990 ГДР и ФРГ прекратили свои существования и объединились в одну Федеративную Республику Германию в Берлине. Наши родители бабушки и дедушки скучают по этим лучшим временам.

actually it workd pretty well. and if u look at the stats most are nostalgic of it, life was alot easier back then and the standards of living were much the same, but the rights and what u cant have is always what the people want no matter how stupid they are.

Absolutely beautiful National Anthem! No country fell apart more graciously than East Germany! I wish that at least Germany can keep this national anthem! I felt that the current Federal Republic Anthem is very suitable as a Nazi hymn ( Deutschland uber alles) or Germany Above all. Wouldn't be the song I want to sing in Israel!

that's not our national anthem since the establishment of the federal republic in 1949. We do not sind the first two verses only the third one with "unity, justice and freedom for the german fatherland". During the nazi time only the first verse with germany over everything and various terriorial claims for the german national realm realm was sung. The germany song (Deutschlandlied) was the anthem since the first german democratic republic from 1919. The Deutschlandlied with germany over everything was created during the napoleonic wars and meant that the idea of a united germany should be put over the disunity of the various independent german states at the time. Germany was up until 1870 not a united country consisting of a bunch of independent states with the number being 50 or so. The reason why Napoleon won was because germany was not united and thus one german state after the other fell to Napoleon's armies.It wasn't meant in the way of calling Germany superior to other Nations which the Nzis did in their perverted ways

A good tune. Always used to like hearing it at the Olympics. Much better than that 'God Save The Queen' dirge.

Muss es schön gewesen sein, als auf einmal dieser Text wieder gesungen wurde. So manch einer fragte sich da wohl: "Unsere Hymne hat einen Text?"

agree, but the whole germany should have been a communist state with the 1937 borders, russia played with german and polish borders at their will and no communist wantedd to change borders before 1945 (and i love russia, but i amb critical, what do you think?

Nach politischer Haft unter unmenschlichen Bedingungen war es eines der schönsten Ereignisse die ich erleben durfte, dass das DDR Fensehen zum Sendeschluss erstmals die Nationalhymde mit Text spielt. Eines der schönsten Lieder die ich kenne. Jetzt wusste ich, mein Kampf hat sich gelohnt. Wir haben ein unmenschliches Regime in die Knie gezwungen.

Das liest sich so schön. Eigentlich ist es eine so schöne Hymne und ich würde sogar dafür eintreten, sie wieder Nationalhymne werden würde. Aber explizit mit Text, um sich vom Unrechts-Regime abzugrenzen! Ich weiß nur nicht, ob alle vom Unrecht Betroffenden die gleiche Einstellung haben wie Sie.

Ya, well I have friends and family that lived in Gross Rohrsdorf by Dresden, but they were no big fans of the DDR or lamebrain Honecker either. I'm not saying the Federal Republik is much better these days either. Norway is a much better place to live than most nations in europe...at least they still have the Kroner and not the EU scheissgeld. Germany was even better off with the Mark than the Euro. My ancestors emigrated from Germany and never looked back. Auf Wiedersehen zu meinem Heimatland

Hymne. Welcher Deutsche ist denn innerlich "hymnisch" ? Wäre vielleicht besser, alle 10 Jahre was Neues zu bringen. So allmählich modernisieren. Wie wäre es mit "Wochenend und Sonnenschein". Von den Comedian Harmonists. Wäre ein starkes Signal, wer die deutsche Nationalhymne verfassen kann... Später nach Hanne Haller "Weil Du ein zärtliches Land bist..."., Es gäbe da so vieles. .

Only if you still cling to that ignorant and twisted interpretation. Deutschland über Alles does not mean that Germany is supposed to be above all and dominate other countries, but rather a plea to Germans, when Germany did not yet exist, to place a unified German above other motivations, aims and agendas. The song is beautiful if you can understand the true meaning of it. Unity, justice and freedom. The song was written long before the Nazis corrupted it along with other German values.
