The noise of that db9 was something else music to my ears. It would have to be a manual dbs for me, i live in rural northern ireland so no city driving. Mike and the team well done again on another informative and well put together vid look forward to next one.

I absolutely love touching the D button and sitting back in my DB9...I guess it’s all about personal choice and for me the auto transmission suits me to the ground.

Just stumbled across this channel for the first time and I would immediately like to say thank you for wonderful insights and commentary. I have a manual 997 turbo and can relate to a lot of what you are describing. Thinking of making the move to an Aston and mid debate re the auto v manual. Very useful food for thought. No to watch al the other vids!

Nicely done Mike as always. The problem you have now left me with is I need one of each. Keep plugging away with the Video Blogs those subscribers will keep climbing. For newcomers like myself, can I suggest, I think the Website needs a little TLC to make it more interesting, maybe a little more explanation on your services, might drag the auto's and manuals to your door..

Overall I like my Auto DB9 but as you pointed out there is the odd occasion where I wish I was driving a manual. I think a lot depends on where you live and drive; In the US and Canada a majority of the roads are boring and straight unlike Europe where the manual would definitely be my choice. Keep up the great content.

Hi, cool I wasnt aware of the mods available, what price span for the hardware are we looking at to get the 550hp? £10k? And is there a difference between the 450 and 470hp variants if you do these mods, or does it not matter at that point?

Since these cars are preponderently on the public roads, not on racetracks, I suspect the choice is the one offering the better aesthetic satsfaction. With traffic density in the US being what it is, the autobox gives a good account for itself. I love my manual V8 Vantage but the later Sportshift seems a better overall way to go.

Great explanation re the driving experiences of both transmissions. In today’s driving conditions the ease and comfort of the auto seems the way to go and more available in that mode.

Hey Dave, have you noticed the price of DB9 go up now? It feels like they’re being pinched off the market.

I was expecting the DBS to be manual and the DB9 to be auto so that was a little surprise. What is the clutch and gears like in the DB9 manual? Heavy, light, somewhere in between? Interesting comparison though:-)

Hi, as a DBS owner I was surprised you didn't appear to mention the 'S' sport button for the DBS Touchtronic gearbox ? In 'auto' mode with sport set the up and downshifts will be at a higher engine speed to provide a 'sportier' drive. But then it is more of a GT car, which is why I chose the auto.

Would have to be auto for me in these trying times with traffic etc.

I am thinking of a DB9 or a DBS. I like the idea of a manual but I've heard they are easy to stall in these v12 cars. I am looking for a comfy cruiser, but still would prefer to drive a manual I think. But auto takes out all the agro, especially in a traffic jam.

Driving my F1 360, I found the automated single clutch was the best of every world. Granted, it needed a software update, but once the gears started smacking home, it gave you such incredible enjoyment without the fear of cataclysmic overevving or synchro incidents. More than anything though was the feeling that for the first time I could fully concentrate on both steering through an apex and also how the chassis was moving, so my understanding of the car I felt was greatly enhanced. There's nothing quite like a set of automatically blipped down shifts heading into a bend. There's good reason why the Aventador has clung on to this technology - and perhaps why so many say that the Huracan feels a bit dead in comparison!

How is your 360 F1 if you get stuck in slow moving traffic? I am under the impression that the early mechanical autos does not like that scenario?

@@bingoberra18 with updated software to Challenge Stradale (or other later TCU) and a specialist that really knows how to set the clutch PIS up correctly, they are fine. The early ones with early software are not so great. What I will say about F1s (and that even includes the 430) is that they just appreciate the open road more. It's the nature of the single clutch mechanics. Double clutch really provides a better everyday scenario. A well set up F1 is manageable though.

Manual transmissions are a thing of the past.So few prestige car makers offer manual nowdays for a reason. They are a pain in the arse. Also both hands on the wheel is safer.I tried a manual DB9 before I bought my sports shift car.The auto DB9 is a dream to drive.

You could go for the much rarer virage which sits nicely between the two 30 more bhp over the standard and ceramic brakes. That's what I did my only regret the is it's not a manual
