Clutch wear is down to he fact that 99 per cent of sports car owners do not match revs when they change down and/or do not know how to heal and toe. I achieved over 100k out of a Ferrari 308 clutch and over 100k out of a 550 clutch, and having warmed these cars up to 220 F on the oil temp gauge, like a proper driver should, I then thrashed them to an inch of their life (as a proper Ferrari driver should) and probably changed gear at least 4 times more often than the average driver because I drive "in gear". I doubt that I ever drove my 550 once in that 100k without hitting the rev limiter in 3rd and when we took the clutch out to inspect it at Ferraris request (because In was the first driver ever to top 100 k on a 550 clutch) it had less than 30 per cent wear on it. But then, hey, I ride super bikes and if you fluff a down change on one of those in a corner at high speed you die so you learn to change gear properly. I have driven both V8 and V12 Astons and whilst they are admittedly not as good as Ferrari clutches are in terms of feel (particularly the V12) a real driver can quickly learn to compensate and therefore the problem is not the clutch, it is the ineptitude of the drivers. Sorry.

Apart from the upgrades you mentioned... Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade the vantage's center console incl. the infotainment to the 2016's facelift? From an asthetics point of view that's what bugs me the most with the more affordable older model years.

I love Aston Martin But when i watch your videos i think they are a money pit I think I will just stick with my Lexus LC500 they are no where near as costly as AM to run 10 year free warranty The japs are clever enginners they copy the rest but make it better and more reliable they have enough faith in there product to give a free ten year warranty with every car made

So true if u just love cars and driving those memories of driving to Le Mans or Scotland are priceless. You do bond with your car and becomes more than just a machine but part of your life, a companion, with quirks just like some of your friends. You instantly bond with fellow petrolheads and the various sub groups of classic, supercar, or moded clans. So no price on that I guess.

The great lie is that internal combustion has been made synonymous with fossil fuel. I will miss F-Type, I worked on the thermal attribute from 14MY to 18MY. And now find myself stuck in a industry that has left me behind. The hell scape of BEV where the infotainment is more important than the drivetrain character. What I foresee will happen is; you may not be able to buy the parts aftermarket or OE to repair your Aston or Jaguar, however given the huge premiums involved the likes of Works and Heritage will be offer "restoration" services at the very top end of the market.

my question in is how do you program the ecu to not read these items anymore. i see these issues quite commonly. i fitted a quicksilver headers and hi flow cat to a v8 vantage and no they get cat efficiency codes. the air injection sucks, it was causing problem in the 90's astons aswell.

The question I would ask is high mileage - given the 4.3s are now entering 100,000 miles+, how far can they go, before an engine rebuild, or corrosion disaster?

Talk so much shite. You just encourage shit since you're sponsored by loan companies. Talk about Banford Rose test driving customer cars at 140mph, x3 in 20 mins, after they dropped it for a service, then strongly denying it, until the telemetry was uploaded on Google reviews from the tracker !

my biggest concern with these cars are going to be the reliability of all the mercedes gear. so many use plastic coolant pipes and o'rings for the oil filter housings , water pump, ect go bad. and if aston/ mercedes are gate keeping their software the second hand market for these will not exist. and they will be too expensive to maintain. you would think though anyone buying these newer cars would have the finances to support them too.

Lots of DB11 owners swear by Porterfield R4S pads. They don't squeal, heat up quickly, have low dust and are good enough for a 200mph car on a track day.

Hi i have since one month a Aston Martin Virage (2012) with 28000 miles it just had a replacement of spark plugs, coils, oil, all filters etc all done . Sometimes when i start it, it smells a bit gas through out the exhaust behind not a lot and for a very few seconds and not always . Is this normal? Thank you and big hello from Luxembourg

Hi mate Iv been looking at Astons for a while now and have set my heart on the rapid S 2017 model but really how bad would one of them go ? It’s a relatively newish car and will be in low 20’s on MIlage . Can these cars be astronomical on hidden issues if any ? Thanks

The most beautiful looking Aston could have had a low speed shunt and the wealthy owner could get repairs done under the radar at his local body shop.A pre purchase inspection would spot that.£350 is nothing for that service and amount of de risking.

I pulled my filters and checked them. They were utterly disgusting and filled with what looked like silt, as well as dust and dead bugs. There were also leaves stuck in the filters and loose in the air boxes. I suspect the loose leaves would have been sucked on to the filters while running and released once the engine is off. My car is a 2012 V8VS with 47,000 miles and has full dealer servicing until 2020, then switches to specialist servicing. My air filters were dated 2012, and so have clearly never been changed. I can honestly say there is a clear difference in throttle response since changing them. Also, I occasionally had a startup issue where it would attempt to start and cut out. Sometimes it would start after a few tries and sometimes it would be hours later. There was no pattern to it but since changing the filters, it hasn’t happened since. I’ll be contacting Bamford Rose in the near future to have my car serviced there. Thank you 😊

Thanks to you, I now have a much clearer picture of what a Rapide or ‘S’ ownership would be like. For me, its chemistry centers around its beauty and comfort related drivability. Owning someone else’s 7-12 yr old Aston (in lieu of one which ‘grew old’ with me…) is somewhat daunting, especially considering the lack of availability of 5 star rated independent Aston shops. But, it is, for me at least, a stunning beauty, which could lead me towards a less than intelligent purchase decision, lol…

No, actually I didn't like it one bit. In fact, it made me cry. Becoming a future owner of a borderline super car has responsibilities that I am not sure I'm prepared for. It could prove to be waaay beyond the level of honorable ownership this car deserves. I was a deferred owner of a Maserati BiTurbo that was essentially driven into the ground until it was.. well... ya know stolen. I really want this car but I see the consequences if it is not properly cared for... and of course due diligence exercised prior to a purchase. I'm so stressed. This is supposed to be fun.
