My interest in railroads involves the infrastructure, the technology and the vehicles utilized. This has been a fascinating 'journey' for me, in more ways than one.The symmetry,the earthworks, track-work, catenary and just the sheer improvements since the Second World War! Here in the Pacific Northwest, we are so limited due to terrain factors, earthquake zones, and many more factors-cost being one of them. I urge Mr. McDoulgham, to take a careful look at what went into building this particular section of railroad, the smooth ride, and the excellent handling of the train by the Engineer. Look at the concrete work, tunnels, bridges-and, best of all, the Technology and innovation!

I have been on this very ICE train in 2007 it really takes your breath away, and the scenery is beautiful on the way to Koln. I took a lot of High Speed train's across Europe but this one was very cool!! Prost!!

@@NK-ck9gk Ja das ist ein Unterschied, ob ich einmal die Woche den H0 ICE mit Sound fahre oder ob ich jeden Tag drin Sitze und Acht Stunden das Geräusch um mich habe. Trotzdem tolles Video. Danke fürs Hochladen

Using a stopwatch between kilometer posts I clocked this one just over 305 km/h in places, very very impressive.

This train could put a baby to sleep. So smooth and quiet. Over in the U.S. we have the Acela express which only gets to about 200km... and that thing bounces and shakes like crazy.

Its probably the worn out rails, not the train. Bombardier and Alstom know how to build trains.

Hint: the video actually turns into HD at the 15 minute mark.

so hier nochmal für alle ;) das video geht nur 30 minuten da die speicherkarte nach ~35 minuten voll war und ich die original dateien nichtmehr habe... desweiteren wurde hier diskutiert das man 330 fahren dürfe... das stimmt nicht! nichtmal wenn man 5 stunden verspätung hätte dürfte man 330 fahren... in Deutschland gilt die zulässige Vmax von 300 Km/h... nicht 310 und auch nicht 330.... 300 und nicht einen km/h schneller ;)

Hallo Marcus Wird es zu Köln-Rhein-Main vielleicht in Zukunft eine Neuaufnahme geben und dann die ganze die Strecke von Frankfurt nach Köln? Das weiteren würde mich interessieren ob für die Zukunft auch Führerstandsfahrten auf anderen Strecken geben wird? Danke für die beantwortung der Fragen.

+110589Marcus Ich frag mich echt, wie hier manche auf sowas auch kommen, dass man da 330 fahrn kann. Vmax ist 300 und fertig. Ich glaube früher konnte man max. 3km/h überschreiten, bevor die Zwangsbremsung kam. KP wie es heute ist. Die 300Km/h werden aber glaub dort auch nur auf einem Teilstück gefahrn, wenn ich mich recht entsinne?

+Bybdzf , gestern bin ich die Strecke von Frankfurt nach Köln mitgefahren. Keine Ahnung wie genau die Anzeigen im Zug sind, aber vor der Hallerbachtalbrücke in der Senke wurden 303 km/h angezeigt.

Vor kurzem noch auf der Strecke unterwegs gewesen von Nürnberg nach Dortmund. Leider mit Halt in den ach so großen Bahnhöfen Limburg Süd und Montabaur. War aber trotzdem eine sehr entspannte und ruhige 5h Fahrt ;)

It's not as scenic as the old route up the Rhine, but a heck of a lot faster! I like how the train passes all the cars on the autobahn, especially when you consider how fast Germans drive!

ICE is a potentially great system. However my experience so far, traveling frequently from the Netherlands to cities like Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Munich using ICE, is that they hardly ever stay on schedule. I almost always need to switch trains somewhere half way (which is also annoying) and almost never catch my connection.

Mit dem ICE 612 war ich Anfang Oktober mit meinem Freund in diesem Teil von Köln unterwegs, habe aber Frankfurt-Flughafen im Bus verlassen, ich glaube, es gibt keine Züge aus technischen Gründen zurück zum ICE 613. Wir waren sehr nett und wir waren angenehm unterwegs.

This route is still there, it's used by IC and night trains.

Die Kisten sind der absolute Wahnsinn. Eigentlich sollten wir viel mehr SFS in Deutschland mit Tempo 300 haben.

Super mooi gedaan. Gut Gemacht, meine Sohn findt es Super Mijn zoon van 2 vind het helemaal fantastisch om Machinist te zijn.

Ganz tolle vid!!! Ich reise die strecke 5-6 mal hin und zurück jedes jahr. Habe einmal im Ruhebereich in vorne gesessen. Leider war die Glaser wand nicht gut durchsichtig. Wurde großartig sein mal im Führerstand mit zu fahren!!!!

hehehehe super ich bin immer auf der autobahn gefahren viele jahre ich habe den bau der strecke verfolgen können und dann endlich konnte ich sehen wie die ICE`s vorbeirauschten da habe ich mir auch gewünscht mit 300 kmh ans ziel zukommen leider fuhr ich nur 89 kmh mehr gab mein Lkw nicht her echt schön ich konnte fast immer sagen wo der ICE sich befand nur eines hab ich verpasst Montabaur aber Ransbach der Autohof klar und deutlich zu sehen Danke schön fürs Hochladen

Ma S Siemens is german . Alstom is french and Bombardier is canadian . They are not the same .

Nuja, einerseits das und andererseits Deine Schreibweise :D Gut zu wissen, ich plan grad meine Zukunft nach der Bundeswehr und überleg eben in viele Richtungen. Als Eisenbahner im betriebsdienst würde mich halt nur FV interessieren, von daher kommt mir das sehr gelegen. :)

I live in France and travel frequently on the TGV and the German ICE - wonderful trains but they exist at enormous cost to the taxpayer. I was deeply disappointed with travel on Acela during a recent trip to the USA. Sad, isn't it, that the US has systematically destroyed its railways over the past 50 years-or-so and that such a technologically advanced nation is incapable of producing anything approaching the engineering of the Germans and French.

I was deeply disappointed in US by almost anything - people looks, food, trains, cleaniness, safety... Only nature (and army) still rocks, otherwise it is in long time decay. Manhatten doesnt count, most of towns are just low quality built from shit houses and slaves living in them who are ok to work with no maternal leave, few to no vacation days... In EU any country would explode if people had same conditions as US but they think they are cool, cool to be slaves.

Man könnte fast meinen dass die Strecke nicht ganz ausgelastet ist - aber trotzdem ein tolles video!

ok also 1. frage wer sagt das ich 23 bin :D nur weil das im kanal steht ^^ und 2. wer sagt das man sich hocharbeiten muss... es gibt auch die möglichkeit direkt bei DB FV die lehre zu machen und dann gleich bei FV eingestellt zu werden :o)) Lg.

Awesome video! Now its time for the US to get like other countries and build some high speed rail. Yes it won't be cheap but I think it will be cheapER if focus on utilizing existing tracks and just upgrading them to support higher speeds

The turning radius of most track will need to be straightened, spaces between tracks will need to be widened, the catenary overhead will have to be fully replaced and modernized. It has to be completely rebuilt in most places, and I wholeheartedly hope this will happen on the NE corridor someday. There are only a few other places in the country where population density (and an existing rail-riding culture) is sufficient to compete with airlines and cars: i.e. the northeast and the Chicago area. The CA system is going to have a hard time getting car-loving Californians to forgo a much faster flight to use trains they've never had in their lives.

There is a saying in Romanian: to run eating the ground. Here one can see it literally... Missing beautiful and fascinating Germany, a great country.
