That thing you Said about Training alone is very important. Most classes dont tell you that you should train outside the classes. That is very important to see improvement fast. Great video Grant. Glad to see you are making more frequent content with AWESOME quality.

So many good points in here. Many of them are the invisible qualities people take for granted (like having fun) that wind up defining whether you become a lifelong practitioner, or someone who uses their training as a temporary escape from their reality. Another point is that you will have to build a healthy personal relationship to suffering. As a 45 year old practitioner who feels like he's starting over, I mentioned in a Bioneer video on parenting; "I had a routine, uninterrupted, for 2 years with a kid. Then one bad upper respiratory illness, and I'm looking at a calendar: it's been a month since I've trained. My longest layoff in 2 years. Now I have to rebuild; build my V02 Max, my oxygen levels, my work capacity. It feels like starting over. I'm almost glad; I remember the pain and suffering that preceded real transformation when I began this journey back in 2012. I get to relive that difficulty in game+ mode. I can't wait, yet its already begun

Thanks Grant this was great! I’ve been out of my dojang for 4 years now and am constantly looking for new inspirations to keep training and get back to who I used to be. Of course it’s a lot harder with kids running around these days 😂

Stoking the fire is something that's helped me stick with Dutch Kickboxing for so long, been training 5 days a week for a year now coming March. And it's tough, especially when you feel your skill goes up and down, especially in sparring or fights, and injuries (that I'm starting to get now, currently recovering from a concussion while prepping for a fight sparring some advanced guys). Even thought about quitting multiple times. But I'm trying my best to stick with it. A great place for martial arts inspo is a channel called MMA Watch, the channel does some 🔥🔥🔥 fighter highlights and stuff like that. Also can look to fictional characters for inspo too. My main inspirational character who got me into calisthenics growing up and martial arts recently is CWs Green Arrow, even got me into learning languages lol.

Thanks for a very good vid. Much information to think about. I am not in the field of Martial arts, but I think these ideas go well beyond any specific type or exercise.

Would you rather step up to face what you envision as your potential, or succumb to living sub-par because everyone else who is mediocre has the inability to see their potential for whatever reason? Pardon me but I don't really understand the meaning of fear when every fleeting millisecond doesn't come back to us ever again. I found this video quite inspirational.

Massively inspirational stuff! Just took up taekwondo a few months ago just because I thought the kicks looked amazing and I wanted to be able to do that too. After a few weeks I found myself getting more interested in boxing and kickboxing but I never knew where to start until your collab with The Bioneer (great video btw). Been watching all your videos ever since. Everytime I hear you talk about training it gets me pumped and wanting to improve my skills. God bless you Grant, keep up the good work!

Great video man I still consider myself i beginner I keep a white belt mentality always fun to learn to new things and to go back to your foundation to keep sharp and clean I’ve only now started taking martial arts seriously throughout the years it was on and off. And the inspiration part of video definitely related to that my first ever martial arts movie that just move beyond words and lit a fire in me was Bruce lee’s fist of fury dojo fight I was so moved and in love that was back in 2017 till this day that fire in me still burns and it burns ever higher than it use to I love that I love martial arts it’s a passion of mine.

What I will be doing is starting out with hunting, fishing, swimming hiking, biking, skating everyday/most days and Eventually once I am stronger I will do calisthenics, weight lifting, and martial arts. I will also make sure to meditate to deal with stress and read philsophy for the betterment of my mind.
