The "interruptions" are the reasons it takes moms twice as long to do anything, but I wouldn't trade them for anything. :)

My dad speaks dutch but my mom doesn't so sadly it never got passed on to us children. I really wish I spoke another language! Great video!

Yes! I’m thankful to know it. However the boys don’t really speak it either.. 😩 I’m a failure. Nic and I are both very ‘datch’ so it’s hard on me that they don’t. They understand it of course but just rarely speak it.

My father grew up Mennonite and yes speaking Dutch but never taught myself, my sister or 2 brothers. It would of been very nice if he had considering we live in Amish land lol (northern Indiana) and have several friends that grew up either Amish or Mennonite but are now English and they of course speak it.

Those little boys are so precious. My 9 year old little boy liked watching them be silly and said "they look like ME!" (I'm partial to dark haired little boys with that little sparkle of fun in their eyes☺️

What a fun video, I had to chuckle when the boys said it's to expensive in dutch😄they remind me alot of my boys when they were that age, they are 7 and 10 now but still like to look at "expensive " stuff😉

I have to say since watching your vids i am feeling more confidant in my ability to try things id normally not do. One example is mowing the lawn. Ive never done tgis but will try this week. Most ppl would laugh but ive gotten used to my husband doing it and theres no reason why i cant! Im also going to try edging my flower beds next spring :)

Moldy awning is a health hazard, time to get rid of it. Perhaps a plastic roofing or water proof roofing would be nicer for the sitting area. Looking around, I’m sure you’ll find what fits best. Even a tarp is waterproof and won’t get moldy, easy to maintain and keep clean. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! To the little guy.

Lol. Well.. it is a bit of a challenge. But they’re not all spotless and things do stain on occasion.. ☺️ I use oxi-clean usually if needed.

Maybe replace the cloth on the pergola with wood for the fall/winter to protect your patio set. So enjoy your vlog. Do you have cooking vlogs on your channel?

I’m not sure if you’ve done this or not but I videos that you only speak Dutch in would be really cool! Maybe you could add subtitles so we can understand it.

I always find it funny... as someone who speaks German. There’s a lot of similarities between “Pennsylvania Dutch” and Deutsch. “It’s too expensive” in Deutsch is: Es ist zu teuer. I could tell the first couple words were supposed to mean “it is”, but the rest I probably wouldn’t have guessed without the translation. Thanks! ;) Learning some Pennsylvania Dutch another skill I would like to add to my repertoire. :)

Your little guys are so cute! I can't help but think that your accent sounds a lot like my husband's relatives who live in Millersburg, Ohio. Do you live near there? It's uncanny how you sound just like one of his aunts.

Your dialect is so interesting! I'm studying Linguistics and English Language. I'm German but also speak a bit of Dutch so your dialect is a mixture of all those things haha! Sis' stzu' diah sounds a lot like what my grandmother would say. She speaks "low german" and would say "isch' zu 'düä" (proper german: ist zu teuer) which really sounds alike to how you guys speak. (Dutch would be "is te duur")

Yes! That’s similar! We can understand a bit of the high German. But I’m not too adept at it..

I know it's hard to imagine, but the day will come when they won't want to spend time with you. I was blessed yesterday when school was out early and my girl missed the bus because her locker was stuck and 5 teachers couldn't get it open. I got them both and we did a road trip for a taco and the Wilson farm market. There was a lot of construction so it was a good long drive I guess. We stopped and got a wooly bear worm off the road and brought him home & they used their olloclip iphone lens to take his pics and make a worm video. He's basically eating leaves & sleeping upside down. Funny. At home it's all homework and cleaning. I really enjoy the times we can just have time with 2 teen girls and no arguing! Now we have some end of season vegetables and fresh cheese, eggs, butter, things for some great baking! We even got little pumpkins. It is Fall for sure! Next time together, will be baking fresh scones & pecan sandies again, their favorites for the weekend before dad heads off to Germany. It will be an 'all girls' week next week! Prayers! ; ) really. prayers please? ; ) I hope we survive.

Well I used the one I had previously for two years. I washed it in between .. I think in the washer? I’m guessing it wasn’t as bad tho as this year because I definitely wouldn’t use it again.

I only happened to stumble on to your channel a couple of weeks ago so I don't know if you have already done a video on your religious beliefs. I am a Baptist, but I still believe in modesty for both genders and have been praying about head coverings and what God wants us women to wear. I was just curious about what you believe in. If I am getting too personal or if this is not the direction you want to go with your channel I understand. Either way I will still be watching. I love your attitude and you have a lovely family.

No they’re not in school yet. And I don’t plan to homeschool. We don’t typically send them to preschool around here. Our church at least. We have a half year of Kindergarten at our church school.

I love to mow the yard. Weird I know. :) Please don't mow in flip flops! All it takes is one slip!

I was hoping to learn more about my family background.. not sure why this is called a day in the life of PA Dutch?

I’d give my boys a choice, they could pick up the toys and all would’ve fine OR I’d pick them up then the toys would be put in a trash bag for two weeks in “ time out”, after the first time they dared me ,as most kids will try to do, they toys did indeed take a time out👍🏻 the next time I’d ask them to pick up toys they would rush to grab them and put in their room. Win for mom☑️
