it’s definitely a LOT easier if you get a dog that’s already gone through the puppy stage so you skip out on potty training and neutering. But it’s all worth it ☺️

I knew getting a puppy would be hard but I didn’t think it would be THIS hard! Thank you for making me realize I’m not ready for a pup yet 🥴 This vid was super helpful!

Sammy is too sweet, I can tell how much love and care your have for her. I'm also a designer, and I am bringing my English Setter pup home in July. It was such a huge decision to bring a puppy into my life, and it wasn't until my job announced that we could continue to work from home permanently (wahoo) that I knew it was the right time. This video was so helpful, and such great advice. Becoming a morning person will be the death of me. lol.

Sammy is just the cutest 😻

My husband and I adopted a cat during pandemic. He was a completely feral siamese cat from a rescue. It tooks us 4 months for him to get socialise. Somedays he would show a lot of progress and then regress back a week. That is normal. Patience is key. You are doing an amazing job 🙏❤️

My dog passed away this year at 14 years old and I miss her so much, this pup content warms my heart and makes me excited for the when the time comes that I'll adopt a dog of my own. Thanks Lindsey

Mine too :( Sorry for your lost, I just recently got a pup (she was abandoned and we took her in). Sometimes the dog comes to you instead

I'm so happy to see a video that highlights just how much time and effort dogs need to be happy & healthy. I got my rescue in November last year and it's been one of the most difficult learning experiences I've ever had - but 100% the most rewarding!

It's so important to talk about the work it takes to live with and train a dog. I see too many people with dogs that aren't trained, don't listen and generally would deserve a better human to take care of them. Some people just shouldn't have dogs. I'm glad you and Sammy work so well and that you're honest about the reality of having a puppy.

Lol! Girl!!! My dad gifted me a puppy (a golden retriever) she is now 10 months but while it has been the most wholesome experience and I love my bby, she has been so expensive lolllll she destroyed so many of my clothes and part of my house walls!! I had to put her in a boarding/training school that was so expensive!!!! Now she has calmed down but still a bit crazy sometimes. Little by little she has been getting over the separation anxiety. I also buy her expensive food because she is allergic to chicken!!! 😂 oh! And grooming, girl don’t even get me started....when I take her to the dog park she loves going in the lake or any body of water/ or mud!! Lolll I wouldn’t change her tho, she has brought so much joy into my life 🥺

Yes! that’s about when I transitioned her to half kibble and half Just Food for Dogs. she LOVES it and always finishes her meals now

I remember when my dog was a puppy 🥺 his first trip to the groomer and he came out as a refine gentleman (he is a schnauzer). He is now five years old 🥺

Loooooove the puppy content. Thanks for all the links for toys and other goodies. I was at the pet store the other day and this may have been the guy trying to sell me more things, but he said some research is showing that if a toy is really durable and the dog can't destroy it, it can actually frustrate them. They get a sense of joy and satisfaction from "getting through" the toy. I guess I just tell myself that when my pups destroy something.

Hey Lindsey, thank you for sharing your experiences. Really interesting to hear I got a toy-poodle puppy a few month ago and here in Germany the vets are definitely not that expensive. But overall its so much work I feel you haha ♥️🦋

Do you video record her while you are not home?

I'm quite confused by crate training, I live in Europe and in my country it's pretty much illegal to keep a dog in a small crate if it isn't sick or in transport etc? I don't really understand why it is so popular in the states but looks like it works for you!

If I leave her alone in the house to freely roam without me she could get into danger (electrical cords, chewing on furniture). it’s only for short periods of time

@@lindseyrem Makes sense, here people usually use playpens and gates to make a safe area for puppies, which is a similar concept. But crates are not recommended because of their small size, and that's why I find it interesting that crates are so common elsewhere!
