DAY IN THE LIFE OF ME ~ Riding, Yard Chores, Vet Visit...
Here we have it, a typical day in the life of me. This was filmed early March 2020 for anyone wondering. I hope you all enjoy seeing what I get up to day to day. As I say in the video it does always change so if you enjoy this style let me know and I can film some more!

My old riding teacher always told me “working with horses, if you’ve got 5 minutes it’ll take an hour, if you’ve got an hour it’ll take 5 minutes” this is especially true for young/green horses

Isn't it funny that you (I) can spend the day mucking out feeding and riding, but just love to watch someone else do it too.

Just to encourage you...I’ve only started watching your blogs recently & always really enjoy them. It’s great to see a ‘professional equestrian’ with so much passion & compassion for what they do. You’re also really great on camera as you’re very natural and real without being cringey! I am slightly jealous of your life as I’ve loved ponies & ridden since I was 5 but never had the opportunity to own one. Now I’m nearly 40 I don’t think it’s ever gonna happen but I do appreciate the perks of a lie-in & still enjoy riding whenever I can. Keep up the good work, don’t let the haters get you down & say hi to hobbit - your relationship with her makes me smile & remember how much my own mum means to me!

Brenda Hole So well said!! I totally agree with it all. I’m almost 60 and watching these videos make me harken back to when I had my own horses. I miss those times so incredibly much and seeing these ponies make my heart jump for joy!!
Never been so happy to see this is 1 hour long😆💗

Oh yes, a Hobbit story and how she got you riding.
It’s so amazing how one girl can take care of so many horses at one 🤩
Things ive noticed between US and England 1) buckets to feed vs feed bins 2) shavings in half the stall (usually rubber floor) vs shavings over entire floor 4-6 inches deep (dirt or rubber floor) 3) stalls in England seem to be very spacious vs 10'x12' stalls in US. 4) muck heep vs spreeding manure over field.

I'm in the US. Things aren't just standard across the whole country. 1) I use shallow rubber feed buckets for my horses, but carry the grain to their stall in a plastic bucket. I've seen many variations, including buckets like these, used in various barns. 2) Bedding varies, especially with different barn designs. I've worked in barns where bedding was all over the stall (and subsequently spills into the barn aisle), and I've worked in a barn where the bedding *had* to be swept into a large square in one corner so that there was a sort of path straight from the barn aisle door to the door that led out to their attached runs. I prefer to have it back from the front of the stall so it doesn't get kicked into the barn aisle as much, and so it isn't right under where they're eating and drinking (so less waste/mess). 3) I can't tell if these stalls are big, or the horses were just small lol. I've never seen a 10 x 12 stall though, only 12 x 12 or 12 x 24. Mine are 12 x 24 because I currently only have two horses so no need to scrimp on space. Barns where I've worked have always been 12 x 12 unless it was a foaling stall. 4) Again, this varies by barn. Spreading manure only works in certain conditions, and in the wrong conditions will just contribute to an increase in pests, from flies to internal parasites, and can affect the footing of the field. I have a manure heap, and most of the barns I've worked at also have a manure heap. A few have spread manure, but like I said, only in certain conditions.

@@laurenaston7940 seems standard there that they sweep the shavings to the back. Im not saying its a bad thing. I honestly think we waste a lot here. I also mean the feed on the ground. That seems weird to me. Our box stalls are usually 10 x 12 in the north east unless its drafts or foaling barns. I feel ours are too small and i like their stalls better. We have three horses and three (small) pastures so i guess spreading manure is easier. I personally would always spread it. The heap grosses me out. Id assume it would attract more bugs and pests. I dont want rats. Bigger opertions have no choice sometimes. Id still spread some of it though.

in my opinion, everyone uses feed buckets and most have feed bins as well, it’s a personal choice for the shavings one, again a personal choice for stables, and some people spread poop over fields in uk.
@vikingsong2068

We do spread manure on fields in the UK, but only after it has been composted down over the course of 12 months. That's why we have muck heaps. As for bedding, it's down to preference. Not everyone sweeps their shavings that far back here or even uses shavings. Also, we feed in buckets and not on the floor. Some people do feed hay on the floor because it's better for the horse, but some still do feed hay in nets. It's personal preference.
There is something very satisfying about watching a time lapse of mucking out, if only it was that quick in real life. Great video as always 💖
I can’t believe you filmed a whole day!! I know you’re worried about “missing parts” but I promise we saw plenty!! I love your channel Megan! Can’t wait for the next vlog! Ps. I hope Dee is healed up by now💙
Jaffa’s trace clip is so cute! He looks like a plush stuffed pony that has been made up with different colors of felt!
Wow! You're day is very full on, running a yard with 12 ponies is hard work but you're very well organized. Well done, great vlog 👍
your horses all look so happy and well looked after, it makes me so happy knowing that among all the shitty owners you hear about,, there are so many people like you who give horses the best life they could ever dream of! love your videos they always make my day!
LOVED this video! But don't push yourself to do another one any time soon if its a lot more hassle! I really enjoyed the bit with Dora about spending time with her even when you have loads of other horses too i think it was super important to see ❤
Best 1 hour and 15 minutes this whole week

how about a tack talk vlog - like what bits bridle's, saddles - other aids you use/prefer etc. stop doubting yourself it was good 👍 I think sometimes the organised and more real the better - rough outline and go from there, but I a fly by the seat of type lol. Does your mum ride?

I enjoy watching these because they are actually relestic 🥺
I kid you not that when i saw an hour and 15 minute vlog. *I screamed*
ok but the fact that you have scheduled bonding on your whiteboard is so cute
It is a small miracle that you were able to film all of this and edit it and then upload it for us all to enjoy so THANK YOU SO MUCH MEG!
Aww, Meg mog, we love your vlogs, no matter the content, long or short. We watch for Hobbit and you, the Ant and Dec of the equine world lol.. The sausage and mash looked lush. Great job Hobbit. Picasso jumping reminded me of Bear having her Tigger moment not so long ago. ❤❤🐎🐴❤❤🤗🍛
Hobbit: Hello are you a good girl? Cat: Meeehh
Thanks so much Megan for this ...it must be so awkward having to set up for filming, when you have so much to do! Dora is ultra feminine and pretty...gorgeous Jam actually jumping with elevation!! All super-interesting, because we like to see how other people run their yards. You are so good at this ... natural and honest!! 😊

Never a dull moment, and I loved every minute of this vlog!! Thank you for going through the extra fuss to share with us. So happy Dee is feeling good and on her way to eventing again! Wishing you the best always! Can’t wait for your next vlog❣️
Loved all of this. Thank you so much for all the hard work that went into it. A great showcase of you and your passion for the wonderful horses on your yard. It also showed off how fabulous Sec D ‘S are. 😁
Yaay it seems so fun to be like you it’s fun seeing how different everybody is with there horses during there day ❤️xxxxz
Bear is like ever child’s dream pony 🥺😍
Really loved the video. A fascinating insight into your day. They say that if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life. Have to say it shines through that you love what you do and that you love your horses, and put them first. You are also a hard worker - you don't stop!!!
I love how real you are Megan. You are all such a pleasure to watch. Mum is amazing, just a treasure! Really look forward to your vlogs & your "special" sense of humour. Every success to you 🦄
Wow, Picasso and Lucas are great!! I imagine it's going to be hard for you to say goodbye when they go back home. Thank you for this video, I love watching what others do will their horses. It gives me some great ideas. I think I am going to by some of those treat balls for my guys.
This was sssooooooooooooo good please do more of these and EVERYTHING you said at the end. I love you so much!! Your such an amazing person and an inspiration! I love what you do ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely love this video been mucking & skipping out as well as pampering the horses and ponies today and earlier this week in Airedale which is like near Ilkley & Halifax in West Yorkshire as I'm training in this area myself.
59.50 that sounds like a fox
I loved watching this, it was so interesting to see what a typical day is like for you x
I'm so glad I stumbled across your channel. I really enjoyed this video. I think you're amazing. Your horses are beautiful. Lucas was brilliant, he looked like he enjoyed that ride. Watching you makes me miss having horses. Thank you x
Can’t wait to watch! Love your channel, your ponies are so cute!!😊
Always interesting, always funny and NEVER boring! Brilliant vlog Meg 😍👍🤣
I enjoyed this vlog lots, and I am impressed with how much you do in a day, it really is a full time job. Would love to see other vlogs like this in the future!
I got so exited when Picasso finally got those bounces. so happy he did them so well 😊😊😊 he must be really fun to ride him.
Love how real you keep this day in the life video, Meg!
Dora is so beautiful, so lovely how you are towards her getting her used to everything at her pace 💟
This was awesome Meg, thanks for sharing one of your days with us (I know it’s nowhere near as easy as it looks) you’re incredibly dedicated and passionate about what you do ! Definitely more of these would be fab (but tbh I love watching anything you post anyway 😉😊) 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥰
Oh my god we thought war and peace was long, this however was far more enjoyable thanks Meg for your hard work sorry and that of your hobbit. I think the noise in the woods is a badger or it could be foxes mating
Meg, you are wonderfully gentle with all of your young ponies, I haven’t been watching your Vlog for very long, but I have never seen you get cross or even annoyed with any of them. You just keep doing your lovely gentle ways with them and they will all turn out superbly. Just like the lovely baby that you are leading to the arena to lunge. 👍😎🧑🏻🦰
You’ve done such an amazing job with this vlog meg!! Loved it so so much, your amazing 🥰❤️xxx
Hi from Australia.. love watching your vlogs and what you and your ponies get up to..
i love watching these horse day in the lifes, they comfort me so so much :)
Morning and evening routines would be amazing! This video was class. Keep up smashing the content Meg.
I loved this vlog!! I laughed a lot and I also learnt so thank you so much for setting up tripods and taking us everywhere with you xx
Love this video !!! Bears jumps make me giggle each time 🤣
Another fantastic vlog! I've finally found someone that is as equally obsessed with horses as i am!😂This vlog basically sums up my everyday life!
Beautiful horses....sheer hard work but great you are enjoying every minute of it.
I’m from the states and I’ve never heard of that dish. It looked good though!!
Wow what a day. I just Love Jaffa and Lucas hair cut. Looks so nice. Dora is Beautiful and was very good with the Vet. Love watching you jump the Horses. Peace Be With You and Mum ☮️
When I was a teenager I was doing animal care and horse care at college, really enjoyed it, horses have been a favourite of mine since i was a kid, but i was unfortunately pushed out of stable work due to a really cruddy stable owner, a cruddy college course, and just overall health issues. Since then, I've done a complete 180 on career choice, and now I'm a concept artist. Vlogs like this are so stinking interesting, because its great to get to see the stuff I've missed out on from changing my path in life. I would love to own horses in the future, but I very much doubt that will happen, so having channels like yours to binge when I'm in need of some wonderful horse content is great. Keep up the awesome vlogs, really love your videos!
Meg, you have to understand; any vlog you post is anything but boring!!! I love every minute of every vlog. I really enjoyed watching you throughout your day with the ponies! It was such an insight as to what goes into proper horse husbandry. The fox was so scary. Every time I hear one like that I can honestly understand why people hundreds of years ago thought it was the devil!!!!! Be well and can’t wait for the next one😉
Meg your vids just keep getting better :) loved watching every min of this :) love seeing your progress with Dora building trust is a massive deal and your doing great with her :) loved this video hope to see some more 🐎❤
My god woman you never stop!!!!! Thanks so much the vlog was fab so stop stressing!!!!!! 😘
Oh my gosh so busy! great to see what you get up to on a daily basis!
I really enjoy all your videos and I love the event vlogs they are my fav all your horses and ponys and foals are sooo adorable lysm xx
Lovely. Fun to watch and great to see a different perspective and daily routine :)
Really enjoyed, that video (I enjoy them all) but your so down to earth it's clear you love your job as the ponies are just so relaxed round you . That noises sounded like foxes little to high pitched for deer but think there was more than 1 and foxes always sound creepy lol. Love a question and answer video on problems that could be cool . Sounded strange you calling Frodo to you my gorgeous Field Spaniel was called Frodo and he was my last dog he past away 5yrs ago still miss him I had hi mum and dad bless them . Anyway keep it up and Hobbit love to you all 💕💕💕
You have giving me inspiration again to work hard and ride all my horses!

My only horse is a rescue and she was super nervous at the beginning and wouldnt let you go near her and she would spook at everything but 11 months on and she is amazing!! It is so rewarding 😊
Another great vlog & it didn't feel like anything was missing at all, I don't think any reasonable person expects to literally see every single second during a 'day in the life' vlog ;) Always love watching your riding & stable chores vlogs.... seeing your cute kitty supervisors is always a welcome bonus
I just discovered your channel yesterday and I have already watched so many videos of yours. I love that they aren’t just 10 minutes
Loved this Vlog! Such a great style so please keep it up ❤️👏🏻😁
I really like your laid back approach, with your young horse.
I love Jaffa so much he is my favourite of the ponies :) Xxxx Also I love every single one of your videos.
Lucus is amazing. His jump just flows 💕🐴
“Saddles have got there covers on for bed” that did make me chuckle 😂😂
Considering how much you manage to do in a day it is impressive that you got this much on camera. Loved every bit of it :)
girl ive never come across you before but gosh this video is great :) i love long videos like this❤️❤️
Love love love 💗 What a busy schedule!!
Hey, I just wanted to tell you that I only discovered your channel last night and I've already watched almost 4 hours worth of your videos (by the time I finish this one it'll be 5). I absolutely love the way you vlog, it seems very honest. I also enjoy seeing longer videos and vlogs than usual on youtube.
Jaffa has a lovely downward transition. I like that he keeps his momentum.
Been looking forward to this 😆💞
I remember everyone called blankets rugs back in the 70s and 80s in the states wher I live and I stopped riding in the 80s and returned to riding a year ago and I thought it was weird that nobody knew what I meant when I called it a rug well the OGs knew but not the younger riders. Great video I enjoyed getting to see what a typical day is like for you. I know you make me feel like a miss lazy bones compared to everything you get done in one day. Well done !!!!

We always use the term rugs where i live. It is unusual to hear someone say blanket. :)
I really admire the dedication you have 💜
Thank you thank you thank you. Had a horrible day just sat down and saw this - Just what I needed, you could separate the day vlogs between riding and non riding so not so stressful for you. . Keep up the good work.
I LOVE your idea about listening to podcasts if a horse is testing you! Definitley going to try this one 😆
10:18 look at the ears in the timelapse how cute
I love cowboy pie ;) ya sounded like a fox. Love your video and all the awesome horses
Loved it! Definitly do more of these!
I'm in LOVE with Lucas he's sooooo cute and how he jumps?? Wow just wow
Been waiting for this lol. Thanks for the vlog!
We imported a couple Irish geldings (we're in the US) and one was particularly bad about his ears. I didn't realize it was common. It took me ages to get him to lower his head and relax, even for simple things like haltering. Even then, he was only good about it with me. Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
Funny I had to chuckle since I'm enjoying watching you muck stalls, as I do my own everyday.
You do the best vlogs! So authentic.
That is defo a Fox I promise you that is 110% a fox that is what they sound like! Foxes both bark and squeal but there is probably two of them...one barking to scare other away from territory and then squealing because they are fighting each other. hope this solves your mysterious guest xx
I love this vlog. you're a really awesome rider! :)
Love this vlog so much well done Meg xxx 🐴🐴💖
Loved the vlog as usual meg 💖. My one problem is that it’s too short ! Don’t ever think a vlog is too long 😂. I personally think you should make a full on 24hr vlog 😂 you always make me laugh and your riding tips are always helpful , even if I am horseless at the moment 🙄. If you want to do another one of these vlogs go for it! I’ll definitely watch but don’t ever feel pressured 💖
