Suave Nini yes I know that but most of them will snack a bit. And I was saying they he just looked so so broken with his head down. I rescued two horses from auction who were headed to slaughter. One was a thoroughbred and the other an all black beautiful quarter horse. And they had already been sold to the meat truck when I saw them and I ended up paying him twice what he paid to get them. I’m sure he pocketed the extra. Anyhow when I got them home it was so easy to see they had been hit a lot. But they relaxed and went in pasture and their nice warm stall with a foot of soft straw lol. But anyhow when they had been there quite a few months and gained weight and health, they would follow me all over the place. So I decided to saddle up the thoroughbred and he was amazing to ride. And so was the quarter horse. They knew I loved them so much and wasn’t ever going to hurt them. Had the carrier out two days after I got them home and the vet the same day. And they give me such joy. Many times I think that they rescued me. Not the other way around. I tell them all my secrets every day while eating. Sorry for the long message. It just warms my heart to see abused animals saved.

Todd Ison Some horses were wild and are being sold, practically a profit. And some horses may have had an injury in the past life. Bloodlines could have failed also. Most horses going up for auction, u want to check their legs for strength and to make sure they don’t have an injury or I’ll be spending a lot ($1000-$3000) for a vet bill. I usually feel down the leg, and make sure it’s not swelling
@VRio299
4 жыл бұрын
Auctions are cheap because people take certain risks when buying, for example not knowing the horse's full history/possible health implications just like the bay. They also tend to sell more youngstock, unbroken or completely untouched horses where sellers just want to make a quicker profit rather than keep and train to sell privately which takes months/years. A great place for people like Megan who buy to sell, provided you know what to look for.
That mare was a steal! In NZ she would go for 10k at least 😭

Auction horses are often deemed as not high enough quality or health to sell privately (depending on the auction you go to). Many people dump sick, injured, young, old, weak, medically problematic, green and etc horses at auction and dont care about where they go. They also sometimes receive horses from people who passed away family who dont know enough or cant sell.
That second chestnut horse, think it was a gelding if I remember correctly, was such a gorgeous type. Can’t believe he sold that cheap.
That Shettie would be coming home with me. Id be dangerous at an auction. It is scary some of the prices these horses are going for. Great if you know what you're doing but so many horses are being dumped on charities or worse that its concerning that anyone can pick up a throughbred for £100
This is totally how I’m going to buy my first horse when I’m older. They are my life, but I’m not as involved as a lot of other young riders, because most of them grow up around horses, I’ve loved them all my life, but my parents don’t really. I promise myself every day that I’ll get a horse when I’m older. I love them and I absolutely love riding :)

Most went for so cheap!!! I would’ve come home w/a trailer full👍🏼 Your ponies are priced so much lower than the USA ponies.
@saraaaa1716
2 жыл бұрын
yes so that is because in England, there our loads of wild and broken in horses and ponies. It is the home of our sport. In USA horse- back riding isn't too popular which results in limited horses and ponies in each auction/sale. People in USA would rather keep the horses and ponies as they are expensive compared to England. Whereas in England since there are a ton of horses and ponies, people can give their horses and ponies for auction if they don't need them, don't ride them etc. Basically, in other words if you have more of something the lesser the value is and if you have less of something, the more the value is. (I am not saying that everyone is like that. There are a lot of people who understand how privileged they are to own horses and ponies.)

Giorgia Daniela Zonelli sarcoids are like growths that can come up really anywhere on the horses body which can turn cancerous i believe. They have to be removed by a vet, cut out and stitched up. It also may have failed the vet check for another reason. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of the above^ Becky decided not to buy it last time for that reason, and now it was for sale at the auction again...but that a basic explanation
Aw the little liver chestnut thing with flaxon mane, looked welsh. That was a bit of Meg!
