I am totally blind and a business owner. I am a working pianist and all my life revolves around traveling and buses. I have always been a bus nut and you have one right her man. Great job I can’t believe that this is a GoPros. Camera. Wow!! This thing sounds great even with the headphones I have. I am using some over ear cupped headphones. I love these things and it makes bus videos sound great. You know I am a bus nut and love buses. I always have loved the bus. The first bus ride I took was back in preschool. My bus ride to and from school was an hour and a half each way. To and back. Both an hour and a half. So I guess you can see why I would get use to riding the bus. As I got older though bus rides were shorter to and from school. I have taken greyhound cross country from Tacoma where I live now all the way to Denver. I hope that you make A.S.M.R. Videos of bus driving and more bus P.O.v. Drives. I have a playlist over 800 videos and songs about buses. P.O.V. Bus drives songs about riding the bus going to work by bus and so much more. It is unbelievable how many things I found about buses. I compiled them all in a playlist. Still looking for more videos. About the bus. I have great respect for the mode of transportation I take. Sense I don’t drive of course and my way around is by bus I really have grown up with buses taking me different places. Now instead of boarding buses to go to school on a fall and winter morning it is the bus going to work. Every time i get on the bus though I feel like back in my school days but is a totally different bus and time. Instead of school buses it is tranzit buses. I hope that you make more bus driving videos with the ride. Which would bee totally awesome. I put on these headphones that i have and my word I think the only thing I don’t feel is the live action of the real bus ride. You can hear everything under these headphones with the P.O.V. Bus videos. The only thing you don’t feel is the jerking and bumps that you would normally feel on the bus. I get to feel that when I am in real time going to and from work. I have taken the train too many times but for work and commuting and pleasure it is the way of the bus… buses for sure in my life play a seriously important role in my daily activities with pleasure nights or days out drinking or going to eat or going to work. Buses are very vital. I have told my bus drivers this and they totally appreciate what I am saying and they told me many times that I have for sure expressed this on more than one occasion. Even some of the new drivers that we get they find out really quick that i am a bus nut. If they don’t know they find out really quick. But my fascination with the bus was back on my first bus ride to and from preschool. There I learned so much from my bus driver the songs that she would play over the radio the number of the bus. To everything. That time was a growing stage and I have literally grew up with buses helping and assisting me even to this day still riding buses but for a totally different purpose…. But man you have a bus nut here and I subscribed. Now as a musician you would think that all my friends would bee other musicians but that is far from the truth. Yea…. I might come across or cross paths with them on occasion someone who might bee a fellow pianist or something but,,,, all my friends are bus drivers. The reason is is cause those are the people i see more than anyone else other than my room mate. Yes I see the people that i work with but i go from venue to venue. But really the bus drive is the person I see pretty much on a daily basis. I see them more than I do other people really. And the connection is there. They are very special people that are keeping us safe and yes they are trained to do their job correctly but it takes a certain person to do that. Not everyone can drive a bus or play a piano. Yes. People can have opportunities I think, but not everyone is fit to do the line of work like that. Also I have learned a few things riding the bus these many years i have been doing it. Such as getting on and off. Even though I know I always wait for the driver to say something or listen to direction before getting on or off. You kind of act like you have never taken the bus before. It is following bus driver’s procedures. Also being attentive to see if the driver is going to bee a talkative one or a quiet one. You just get to know how they are going to bee. Some will talk to you more than others but you get to know this and they may have some days where they might bee a talkative driver but then other days they just don’t want to talk so you really keep an ear out for that as well. Also I usually just let the bus driver start the conversation. I never talk to them first. That is how you make a good relationship with them. I mean of course you do say good morning or afternoon or evening but after that you just let the driver talk and then you follow. Also. I have learned that if they happen to need to back up you keep quiet. Even if a driver says a that it is alright to talk with them you need to keep quiet as a passenger cause that backing up is a focus point for them and it takes a lot of concentration. So it is for sure not like talking with someone that is driving you somewhere in their van or truck or car. It is a bit different. In a car, van or truck you can look at the person to you left and talk with them and it is really not an issue in a car, or van or truck in most cases but the bus you actually have to learn to hold a conversation and it is different. It is not like holding a conversation in a van, or car. So on the bus bus conversation is more like letting the driver talk first and then you follow sense they are in charge and you want to follow them. Let them start the conversation. I had someone at work one time at a venue tell me. “If you really want a good conversation to start just talk with a bus driver. They are good for starting conversations.” That is so true. It doesn’t even have to bee full blown conversations. Just a little hi. But that is something that is so true. Just get with a bus driver for a conversation to get started. The bus driver not only is in charge but they will start a conversation all the time with you. Then it leads back to the passengers holding conversations. But I do believe that that is so true. If you want a great conversation to get started, just get with a bus driver. They know how to start it. And,,,,,, one other thing that i have more of an opportunity to do is but it still is very hard to do it but i have a better chance than a lot of people is getting with a bus driver when they are off of work. It is very rare to do that kind of thing but if you can find a way to get their contact which I have actually done with quite a few drivers even just texting them to find out when you can hang with them if they are not working you can actually find a way to get them when they are off of the clock.+ a lot of people despise bus drivers and hate them and say they are rude but they see it as a passenger not like I do. I am one of those rare passengers who think differently than my fellows passengers. I don’t think like them cause i have grown up around buses and their drivers. I have a deep connection with bus drivers and I see things from a totally different view. Many times people think that bus drivers are very rude cause they don’t talk. So far from the truth. The bus driver doesn’t have to talk with you. They are there to get you from point a to bee safely. But I actually do get to talk with some of them via message. Not all of them cause i don’t have all of pierce county’s bus driver’s phone numbers I wish i did but that would bee a ton of drivers. Some I just get to talk with when I see them and others I do text them if i have their numbers…. I have a friend of mine who is a bus driver that i actually went out to breakfast with him. We went for breakfast and had a great time. We did not bring up his work though. We talked as if he wasn’t a bus driver. Just like friends. Cause you don’t see that person as a bus driver then. You see them as a friend of yours and you would do things with them as if they were a regular friend. They are there too to keep you safe. But just to let you know I am bus crazy. Sometimes I am so crazy about buses sometimes I will even get tears in my eyes listening to bus videos. That is how much i love buses. The things that sometimes the drivers will talk about for me it is so emotional about how they care for us as they are transporting us across town or to other connecting points. For me it is so emotional to hear that they care. Emotional in a great way though. They care for us so much and their priority is to keep us safe. This is so heartwarming to me and it catches me every time because they care to keep us safe. And they are our hero’s. Bus drivers keep us out of harm’s way. I could go on but now you know bro that i am a bus nut.

Trains are for get aways and travel and romance. But the bus is for commuting.” The bus driver laughed and he replied. “Yeeeeeep!” “That is true.” I mean. I don’t want to feel romantic going to work. I want to feel my commute. And boy do I ever take a lot of buses. I take buses like people drive their cars. When I go to work and from work pleasure or medical I am taking the bus. When I am not working I am unwinding from the day I listen to bus videos. I have a playlist on youtube that has over 800 videos about the bus. Songs about buses, bus driver interviews, and P.O.V. I've lived in New Jersey for most of my life, and I can relate because I started driving a little more than a year ago, and driving in my town is a headache! It's like driving in New York except New York is 10 times worse than it is over here in my town. So I know what it's like driving in New Jersey. It's crazy.

I agree with Route 1 being bad, our buses last school year were 30 minutes late because one has to travel on Route 1 so they had to make the bus routes turnaround before they go to Route 1 then go back around just to avoid it!

I like this day in the life of a School Bus driver video and it's really cool. As someone who is from Massachusetts and been to New Jersey before I can conform there is nothing in New Jersey. And with Route 1 in New Jersey being crazy I been on that road before during road trips and that road is crazy backed up for miles on end. Massachusetts is where the fun is at. But with California and Arizona I think they are great states too. But I think the number 1 place in my opinion is Massachusetts.

With the GoPro on your head, you can now report foolish drivers who fail to stop at red flashing lights to police. That’s a $500 fine in NJ. :)

I don't know what the laws are in Jersey, but here in Tennessee, bus camera citations are only a $100 civil fine. If an officer first hand observed the infraction however, it's $1000, a class A misdemeanor, and 8 points

I feel you on the mini bus thing, I'm a big transit bus driver who drives arctics and it always gets me when I have to pass a paratransit bus going 10 miles below the limit with a driver who seems dead intimidated by the relatively dinky thing in my 60 ft 'people semi'.

As a Washingtonian (or Seattlelite) i-5 north and south around the Seattle and Everett area is TERRIBLE I mean the traffic gets so bad that you will probably be sitting still on the freeway in one spot for like 20 minutes sometimes. It's always because of the Boeing Factory in Everett which has so many people working there that the traffic coming from that factory alone is so bad. I would probably love arizona traffic lol

I drive a country route. 150 miles a day. A bunch of class 6 dirt roads. Snow, ice, mud. I deal with everything but traffic.

@@ClawBoss Damn, I always think about having a better camera than my phones camera. my GoPro videos also makes buses seem like they're going really fast when I'm inside of them which is cool, idk exactly how it works though since I always film in 60 fps. And I had to learn to do some manual camera settings for different situations.

Wait until you drive a Blue Bird. Ours have two heaters a midship and rear and both heaters have two fans plus you have the stepwell heater and driver heater. The heat on the blue birds will burn you out. Best heat on a school bus.

My bus driver (albeit she drives a career center run that involves 4 trips to and from a town about 12 miles from the high school) drives almost 150 miles per day. PER DAY. Ah the differences between rural Vermont and urban NJ.

I only know about class A driving and I was curious in a class B vehicle when making a turn do you take up some room in the second lane then just to give yourself enough space then complete the turn in the lane you intend to actually turn into and stay in ?

Sometimes you do take up some room you just need to be aware. Also with the Bus you constantly have to check your mirrors when you turn because you don’t want to hit others drivers with your tail swing.

As a kid growing up in the 70s, I rode the old school type buses. You know, Blue Birds, several Waynes, 2-3 Thomas Safe-T-Liners, and maybe a rogue Carpenter or Ward thrown in as a loaner bus. They were all conventionals, so we didn't have any All-American (flat nose) buses. And their chassis were all built by the auto manufacturers (Chevy/GMC, Ford, Dodge, or International). So from the front bumper to the driver area was all the auto manufacturers doing. The bus companies merely built the bus BODIES, which they put onto the chassis and frame. Fast forward to today, and the bus builders build the whole thing from the ground up, although it's my understanding that IC is somehow affiliated with International? But back then, those old girls were OLD SCHOOL. When I started riding, they only had red flashing lights, no ambers, and the driver had to manually pull out the stop sign with a big red pull knob type thing, so if there was no traffic coming either way, they'd usually just turn on the red flashing lights without even bothering to pull out the stop sign. But even then, those old buses were still LONG. While many modern day conventional school buses have a capacity of 71 (or more), our biggest buses back then had a maximum capacity of 66 passengers including the driver. So from a little kid's view in the seat, the bus sat really high off the ground, and it seemed like the bus would HAVE to struggle not to run over curbs, sideswipe objects while making turns, etc. Which never happened, and I could never figure out how the drivers were always able to pull it off. I've recently upgraded my CDL and have been hired as a very part time substitute morning route driver, and I've since learned that the view for the driver is very different than the view for the passengers. Instead of only looking out your side windows like the passengers do, the driver can see all the way around the bus with all that expanse of glass, and the mirrors flanking the bus (and up front). Turning tight corners in a school bus isn't nearly as hard as one may think. It's not much different than doing the same turn in a passenger car, with the exception that you have the ability to see your left and right rear wheels at all time on your flat mirrors, so you can guage how close you are to the curb without actually hitting it. In my experience, the biggest difference is that your flat mirrors are much bigger than they are in a car for obvious reasons, but you can easily see the rear tires in them (I used to falsely assume they would be too far back so you wouldn't really be able to see them well in your mirrors). Also, I've noticed that our school buses (all Blue Birds, propane powered) have MUCH tighter turning than you can do in a car. I can crank my front tires so far that they're nearly parallel with the front of the bus, and can make incredibly tight turns without crossing into oncoming traffic lanes, and without hitting curbs. By far the hardest thing for me to get used to was how HUGE the steering wheel is on school buses vs. regular cars. But they have very good power steering, are easy to turn, and it takes very little effort to drive them whatsoever. Back when I was a kid, I don't even think those buses had power steering and they definitely had hydraulic brakes unlike today's school buses which all have air brakes, and they were ALL manual transmissions where the driver had to shift them manually from granny gear all the way up to 4th gear on highways. Now, as far as I know, they ALL have automatic transmissions so no need for shifting and using a clutch. Although the ones I drive have no "park", only Reverse, Drive, Neutral, and a couple low gears so you have to put the bus into neutral and set the parking brake every time you park. Clawboss definitely has his skills down pat in driving these big ol' girls!!!!

Navistar is the parent company of IC which also owns international. IC buses share some similarities with international trucks, especially the next generation is based off of international’s MV truck series.

Hey, just wondering, what year of IC school busses had chrome grills? Sorry if you aren't the right person to ask, but I have seen the previous generation of yellow grilled busses, which look like mine, but mine have chrome grills.

I believe it’s a option on the order of the bus. Some older buses have chrome grills / or wheels.
