Wow, this was amazing. This is the first I'm hearing of a social emotional goal. You're perfect for high school kids and we need more people like you helping them. Your camera heard you talking about changing your camera and decided to bail on you.🤣☠️ Thanks for sharing, Shay!

If you don’t mind me asking, where did you work while obtaining your degree or in your masters program? I’m currently in my social work masters program and I’m having a hard time finding a job that’s close to the field due to not having years of experience.

Another question just popped into my head - do you see your students for short term counseling or for the entire school year?

The kids seem to stay in the program for years and rarely transition out. As an example, 100% of my current high schoolers have been receiving counseling services since elementary or middle school.

Hi! I have a similar job, I am a LMSW placed in two schools where I provide counseling services. This is my first position out college and it’s a new position in the school district. Do you have a supervisor if you are providing therapy/counseling to your students? How many students are on your caseload?

Yes, I have a supervisor but I do not receive clinical supervision. It’s more like educational supervision to ensure compliance. I spoke of this in previous videos!

Where I come from and how I grew up, a kid misbehaving will get a wooden stick smacked on their behind, then the parent will give the kid more discipline. The thing is, that for many decades, all the schools in the state never had an active shooter incident -- no metal detectors, no SROs.

There weren’t school threats because the accessibility to harmful things back then was not the same as now. Many parents today do not know how to parent correctly to be honest. For example, I agree 100% with disciplinary actions for children and teens who need that to happen for them to learn, however you have some parents who abuse their kids due to jealous, a hatred for the other parent, lazy parenting. and/or etc. Disciplinary actions are need however parents should also watch what they portray in front of the kids (drinking in front of the kids, cursing at the kids, not helping in the child’s development through parent-to-child bonding activities).

@@nicolasmercalo Very true. Things have changed a lot and parental discipline were very high including teachers that would whip students butts. We didn't had iPhones or social media back then. We had great television shows with no narratives.

My former coworker's daughter was a school counselor. One day a couple of first grade boys got into a fight and one said he was going to get a gun a shoot everyone in the classroom. She was sent to the class to talk to the children. After that she called he mother at work crying and I hear the entire conversation. Her mother is an enabler and she was talking to her like a little girl. When my coworker told me about the situation she had the NERVE to say, "They didn't support her." I looked at her crazy ass and told her the principal is NOT going to give you hugs and kisses when situations like this arrive. Then I told my coworker when she worked in the prison with all the male felons she had NO ISSUES and she cannot deal with 6 year old children? Needless to say that silly heifer married a felon in prison and had a baby by him. He wrecked 3 cars, stole her money AND her mother's credit card and sold off TVs and jewelry for drugs! And she was traumatized by a 6 year old! YEAH RIGHT! Of course she got fired.
