Currently getting my bachelors in social work and then plan to get my masters in school counseling. I've worked in schools for years in attendance and it is HARD WORK. People always tell me "At least you get summers off" and I reply "I take the summer to heal my wounds from the school year!" LOL! Good luck to you and your many endeavors, love the channel.

I’ve been a school social worker over 16 years. I love the kids but hate the politics involved with the education system.

Good way to put it! Definitely a strange system that you don’t really get a dose of until you’re an employee 😅

Yes! I am a teacher turned homeschool mom for that reason. It’s not the kids… it’s the politics.

I’m a reading specialist and was a classroom teacher prior to this, and I feel this was after 22 years of ups and downs. The politics have me searching for other opportunities.

@@MindfullyMayadefinitely the politics and with my own 1st grader now, I want to be able to give him my very best self, not an overly stressed out version of me.

I can only imagine being in the public school system. These children need spiritual healing which the public school systems fails to provide. Spiritual healing is the root of the solutions to many of the issues concerning children.

Wad a mental health clinician in the schools. Left in January to go back to the prison system. Way more money and I enjoy working with adults versus children.

Hi from Trinidad and Tobago🇹🇹 . Watched this video because I like your school content. I am a learning behavioural specialist who works adjacent to the school system in my country.

Hi Shay, I'm a subscriber and I'm here as a social worker. I have a MSW and I just received my license last month. I'm interested in starting my career in the school system as a school social worker. I'm a little nervous because I know I'm going to be new to certain things. I just want to learn what school social workers and counselors exprience in the field.

Have you thought about working abroad? The school systems in other countries probably pay more and are more rewarding.

No. Don’t think I’d ever move states, let alone countries, for a job.

Big medicine needs more black social workers. More and more critically ill black folks are needing specialized social services and oftentimes have to deal with standoffish Becky's who typically occupy these positions in most medical organizations.
