Loved the video! The dilema you lived makes me see the world upside down. I’m a brazilian and we are very used to see people here leaving the country to live the “state of art” in northern countries. But China today, in a lot of senses, is the most vibrant and interesting environment for big changes. You incarnate that and I’m really interested to see what came next to you. Anyway, nice video!!

996, but you came to work at 10 left at 7pm and in that time you also had one hour lunch and walk and then a snack time... so effectively you worked maybe 7,8 hrs

6 days a week of that sounds like a personal hell. Granted like any field, every job has different standards.

I think the title was her way of saying "is it real" as in: not everybody is exposed to that kind of toxic work culture. She is working a typical day instead of being in a more oppressive company.

Most jobs in China is not that intense but people are def less lazy than the west, if you go to a store in the west the people won’t even help you, but not in China. I don’t think most people work that late tho only if you are at the top tech companies but that’s the same as the west (I.e. Amazon)

I’m married to a Chinese, but we live in the UK. I love china, such an amazing place and the food is to die for, we’re missing our regular trips back due to covid, we even talked about maybe relocating there, but I think I am too used to the UK way of working, as you mention about your friends in Canada, we do work hard, but not those hours and we probably do get more downtime to enjoy life as well. Nice video, I’ll be interested to see what you show next.

What can you do in china that you couldn’t do in Canada? If all you had to look forward to in the weekends in Canada was food and movies, then you’re going to have that same experience in china lol.

Very cool, I would like to live in China but I'm afraid that people will be racist to me and not show equality like to all other Chinese citizens. Plus I don't speak Chinese but it would be cool if knew, I would also be in interested to open up a company but I feel like that'll be impossible because of the government there in China :/

@@mirrorinsideout yes,you are right. For software engineer job in international companies here, you just talk with your Chinese coworkers in English also. Basically if you aren't really want to fit in local lifestyle, you can continue to hang out with other westerners at your free time. Then also means English is absolutely enough to survive in China lol.

Bro Canada... bad choice XD it's a country only best for wealthy, young people not in that group your benefits will be severely less. It's like this in many countries which owns no major national production sector. Yes, Chinese products may suck but they're creating stuff they own themselves at least, Canada makes little and owns little, most housing is foreign investment, they service manufacturing for other companies, they ship raw commodities like Africa, and hype prices of oil.
