Day 4 Kilimanjaro hike
Today is day 4 on the mountain. We hiked from Shira 1 to Shira 2.
It was just under a 5 mile hike and took us 3 hours, which sounds mad given that we can run that in 30 minutes. However, the 1300ft elevation humbled us.
One member of our team was forced to drop out but made the decision to go to Shira 2 for ease of access down via mountain roads.
Having caught the sun the day before, wearing the pack today wasn't pleasant due to rubbing and so on.
The altitude seemed to be taking its toll on me as well, so I began taking the diamox I had in reserve.
All this being said, the weather was glorious, and the views did not disappoint.
Karla, as always .... pushed on with no problems 😆.

Was all that puffing and panting the altitude or were you suffering with something other than sunburn?

All altitude. As soon as I was back at sea level I was ok
Well done, another good effect there 👍 Quick question, did i see that you were using the OEX leviathan ev 900 sleeping bag? If so was it warm enough and did you use a sleeping bag liner?

Good spot, Rob. Yeah, I use the Leviathon 900, but without a liner, it's been an awesome bag, no issues. At points, I was too hot and basically slept in underwear, though later on in the hike, I had thermal base layers on. I also used the OEX bivvy bag as always to protect the down from getting wet via moisture on the tent.

@dannysadventuresyt Thanks that's really good to know, as I was planning on using that bag but didn't know if it would be warm enough. My wife is using the Rab acent 900 as she sleeps much colder. Looking forward to the next part 😀 👍🏔
