day 29 All killed by a cat. Some viewers may find these scenes upsetting.
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Two days before they were due to leave the nest a cat from the neighbourhood climbed up the bush to the nest and killed all the chicks. It didn't eat them, just left them in a neat pile on the ground. I have posted this video for educational purposes to illustrate the impact cats have on wildlife. This cat didn't take one or two chicks, it had to kill all of them. I would far rather had them eaten by Magpies, a natural death and one which served a purpose, even if only to feed another Magpie. Cats kill many, many times more songbirds than Magpies yet Magpies get annihilated in the name of songbird (read Pheasant) protection.

@hostile blueberry You're not getting it. Yes cats are hunters, but the problem is that they aren't native here. They're invasive virtually worldwide, and there's far too many cats as well. This is not natural, but a man-made issue that should be addressed.
@suchomimustenerensis5302
3 жыл бұрын
@hostile blueberry That's still not the issue. The parents are still at risk when they're on one of the many frequent trips to the ground to search for food for their chicks. They have predators naturally, but cats kill too often, and usually eat less than a third of what they do kill. (If at all.) Once the nestlings are old enough (about 14 days for this species), they jump from the nest. During this time they cannot fly quite well yet, and are most vulnerable. Also, I don't support spaying/neutering cats either, but what I was saying is that they have the potential to produce offspring with stray or feral cats, which adds on to the issue. Additionally, some places, namely Australia, have begun to cull feral cats. (Viewer discretion.) > kzread.info/dash/bejne/mayJts6YqMefpZM.html They've endangered or wiped out numerous native species and will continue to do so people continue to disregard it.

I was a cat owner once. I know how destructive they are as they free to roam. They have a predatory instinct to kill their prey. So, naturally wildlife does suffer especially nesting birds. That's a real shame. Their is nothing like morning birdsong alas, the sound of this natural song has diminished since I was a youngster. Over development pollution etc has probably played part in wildlife demise and it's a crime and a shame. Our future generations will only have Google to find out about the creatures that once roamed alongside us. What a thought. We must do everything to stop the destruction of our natural world.

This is nonsense. America has a mostly indoor cat culture. In the USA, cats kill common birds. Just below cats in that study--DOGS, but wild dogs on islands where there are rare species. And in the UK, where there is an outdoor cat culture, even the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds says cats do no harm: ww2.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/bird-and-wildlife-guides/gardening-for-wildlife/animal-deterrents/cats-and-garden-birds/are-cats-causing-bird-declines Please get your facts right before spouting nonsense.

And then, in a matter of mere moments, a beast breaks down the door and immediately devours two children as the rest manage to run deeper into the house, with the monster not far behind to feast on their flesh.

you honestly think humanity is gonna care what their cats get up to at night. No they only care of themselves.
And it has to be some scary thunder before it
Two got off, one was underneath the cat before being nabbed by it. That's sad....
I've worked with many feral cat colonies over the years. I rarely observed cat predation of birds.

Some escaped for a while but in the dark on the ground the cat found them one by one and killed them. I found them all in a little pile by the bush.

Spotlight? You're not very smart are you
Sadly, cats kill birds as well as rodents. They do great work to control the rodent population, but I guess the poor birds are collateral damage. Hard to watch the babies get killed for no reason by a well-fed pet cat. I have many nesting videos up on my channel...check them out! Some predation but also lots of happy chicks fledging too!

I Also build 2 nests for birds but I made them carefully and somehow made them only possible for these mini birds to enter and exit only.it only cost me some extra woods to double the outer walls by keeping a small measurable distance from each other.neither crow or eagle can enter nor any cat.only raccoon or any other small size predator can enter but till now.these ate safest and most secure nests that I could offer to those adorable little fellows.so far no casaulties reported and many families have successfully grow their childs there's a saying in my religion's that if help these little fellows by using just a small Part of our brain(making nests for them or providing food) they will pray for us in their entire life.we observe their life.do waste money by making nests or putting cameras but 95% of us don't correct their errors but just watch them die.the last 5% of people tries to struggle and help them in one way or another because they can feel their pain.we are not sensitive but we know they can't help themselves completely but we can.our job is to help them untill they become capable of doing stuffs on their own.when I started this,that time I didnt had any job and no knowledge of spy cam.hardly visited market but now there are 7 houses for these adorable little fellows and multiple kind of foods on our roof top.just a waste of my 5% salary.still on the path to architect much more protective houses for them and we are humans,we can do whatever we want if we do it with heart.the day I will call these videos of your successful when you show a cage being attacked by an eagle or any other predator but gets tired and leaves.we do 8 hours of Job and earn too much but their parents sturrgles day and night for just food.I just can't see them die.that's all....will keep helping them even if I have to rise more barriers.good bye.
F cat owners who let their terror animals outside!
