Dax Shepard (Armchair Expert, CHiPS) returns to the show this week and we unpack a lot… like a lot a lot.
Amazing episode this week. We get into everything from discussions between ego and necessity, to irrational fears of financial insecurity fueling motivation, even to the idea of truly loving oneself.
A very open and honest free flowing conversation with an old friend. Know you folks will dig it.

This entire ep was therapy. You're both doing the hard work, and trying your best to create safety and love for yourselves. I'm here for it.
As a hardcore Armcherry, getting to see Dax vs just hearing him makes me so happy but its also weird that Monica isnt there lol Also, getting to watch a couple guys who are vulnerable and open just kick back and chat is the best.

Can’t believe anyone, especially with kids, would ever smoke, let alone daily. It’s so childish not having the willpower to say no to your brain’s desires. Just exercise more, have more sex/masturbate more, listen to more music, even eat some unhealthy food, play video games, or other types of addicting activities, if that’s what it takes to quit the smoking, just don’t replace it with drugs or drinking of course. I have no sympathy for people smoking daily, it speaks to such primitive human instincts, that you gotta stay above.
1:07:10 that was brutality honest, that whole conversation almost brought me to tears. I loved Dax's response. Please have him on again.
Dax is always painfully honest. His interview with Mathew McConaughey was excellent, especially the part where he explained to MM why he is relieved he never had a son.
Michaels GENUINE response to Bless This Mess being canceled was so sweet and empathetic and a sign of a real friend. So sweet to see this two chatting.
Raise your hand if you’re here for the ArmChair Expert🙋
Lex was my favorite part of Smallville and to me was what carried the earlier seasons. I have always loved listening to the episodes with the commentary, because Michael would always kill it with being hilarious and making it so entertaining. When I started to listen to his podcast, I already knew it was going to be great. I have been listening since his first episode and I have no missed an episode since. I'm glad he brought the video version back, and every Tuesday I look forward to being able to listen to another podcast. Thank you Michael.
Michael, it's so nice to see you smiling so much! For 3 weeks ago, you had my heart broken about the unbearable loss of your sister...
This feels like two cooler versions of me talking about my personal struggles from a first-person point-of-view, and I thank you two for your honestly and clarity.
I understand where you were coming from in talking about your childhood and missing "that feeling". I'm 35 and have kids now and miss that feeling of simplicity and innocence of youth everyday. Where my biggest concern was like you said getting home before dark or seeing what mom was making for dinner. It is a feeling you definitely take for granted. Such a great show and I love how I can relate to it so well.
Dax is great!.... and so are you Rosey
I love the part where they talk about heaven hopefully being like the one thing that you truely love and long for. Ive always been nostalgic about the 90s early 2000 (Im born in 85) and I nver really understood why. Until now
I watched the ranch 3 times. It’s a comfort show for me. I loved it so much thank you for that
Glad you liked the mug! Thanks for the shout out😊❤️
Excited for this one! I absolutely love Dax!!

I dig the honesty. Love the questions asked. The answers. This was a great interview.
I could listen to you two for hours! Made me laugh and made me think. Joy!!
Missed you at Richmond, Va this year Rosey. Can't wait for you to come back so I can see you. Glad Dax is Back. Always a Great Podcast When He's On.
Have watched every conversation on KZread and love you and your guests. It has helped me a lot listening to your voice and how deep you get with each episode. I would love to listen to all your previous podcasts, where am I able to listen to every one that you have done? I swear there are more than what is posted onto KZread.
Rosey, you are an awesome freaking person man seriously. I'm so glad I found this podcast. I've been listening for 2 months now while I'm at work and it really helps me get through the day. Plus I learn so much about people I've heard of and people I've never heard of. I never skip even if I dont know them. I love it!
Both Dax and Michael are both very open and honest individuals. Being open and honest is such an important thing. I tend to be the same way.
Hey Michael I'm such a big fan! Thanks for this great podcast you're doing and your work on smallville, me and my brother would sit down every episode to tune in. Really still brings us together in a way to this day. Much love man. Your podcast has gotten me through some tough times this year. Take care
Love the Podcast, each episode is unique and so insightful. Keep up the fantastic work. I can relate to alot of what you Michael and your guests talk about and go through or have been through. Thank you, this is great.
Ugh cigarettes...I feel you on those. I told my oldest son it's horrible and he said, "then why do you do it?" I had no rebuttal. I've quit so many times.
Wow! He actually found the time for an old friend... thanx ya Bum!!(Dax)

My definition of a brilliant podcast .... you don’t want it to end !!! That’s exactly how I felt about Michael and Dax today 👌💯
Great interview!! I work nights and usually listen at work but I love you two so couldn't wait to hear the show so losing sleep to listen 😁.
I love the sound quality in this episode, pure joy!
This is by far my absolute favorite episode. My Star Trek crew is up there, and why I started tuning in, BUT such a great interaction. I dig yall.
I actually got some time today to watch the podcast-which usually I’ll see in parts. Great episode, very easy going vibe. Some good takeaways from this conversation. 👍
Hit and run was so underrated !! I love that movie !!

I love watching these episodes man!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep up the great and honest work.
Amazing how Dax talks with his hands in the air constantly.
Chips is such an underrated film
I love these interviews me and my mum watch and listen every week
I watched this bc I love all your podcast episodes, and not expecting much from Dax (mostly bc I don't know much about him -- love Kristen tho). But he was awesome, so insightful, introspective and secure in himself. The point he made about the importance of recognizing what increases your self-esteem is something that most stuck out to me. 1.75 hrs flew by!

I'm 5 min in and I'm already so excited. Thanks Rosey!
Going to be a good one! Looking forward to this.
"Operator Manual for yourself"... THAT's AWESOME!!! and spot on! (21:10)
Man this podcast is the best. I swear to God. Touching on subjects of handling relationships, money, stress, fears, baggage is rarely seen in podcasts but then throw some humor into it and you have one hell of a time ; ) Also the bit he touched on about missing the past. DAMN man, that is exactly me. Thinking about the 80s. Thinking about simpler times with less responsibilities. Good times. Less stress. Urgh!! Im with you brother. The bit from 1:07 where Michael is talking about yearning for the past, and dax talking about being present, and michael talking about not having to worry about money or doing this and that but just getting home by 6 eating a crappy dinner and going and watch the thing. That is magic! I thought I was the only person who felt like that. Its like hearing the thoughts in my own head. I swear to God, this dude has hit the nail on the head with this podcast. This stuff is golden!
I can't wait to hear the new album🤘 Michael you and Rob are amazing! I just hope you make some signed albums again with this one. I got the autographed CD saved by the ground and I've been regretting not spending the extra money, and getting the full-sized limited edition album now. I love the CD but I'm going to need the album on this one.
by far my favorite episode so far, got to see dax at the studio filming an episode of the ranch. the mc picked me out of the crowd and once he found out I was from Canada he got me to sing the canadian national anthem. so I have technically performed infront of a live studio audience. ps I absolutely love your Lincoln Dax! keep up the great content Michael!
Wow, I really like these guys. I already love Michael. He was the best part of Smallville and he's an incredible actor. I don't know much about Dax Shepherd, but I like his genuineness and as a fellow squirrel (ADHD), I can appreciate both of them.
LOVE this episode!!!! SO relatable!!!
Another great episode. Thank you Michael and Dax!!
The Irish Barry part at 1:30 had me 😂😂😂😂💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
I've been waiting for this one. Excellent episode.
I went to school with dax in milford and I remember him haven't a hard time. It made me wonder y he had a hard time. Now I get it....great show big fan...take it easy...
I love you Michael! You’re an awesome dude and a great inspiration and the best Lex and Flash!
I lived the honesty in this inteview with Dax.
This was an fun and enlightening episode. The money scarcity discussion is interesting, embedded at a young age even for those that are comfortable. Many people have this. Michael's argument about enjoying the time rather than making the money is the flip side. It's the perennial struggle.
Great interview and chat!
I love what you said before the interview. You are the bees knees. ♥️♥️♥️🌻
God, I love this podcast. Every week it only gets better.
Love your show I just found it. Love Dax his personality is great! 😊😊😊
keep em' coming, friend!
I love this one... It got so deep!
Hit & Run is a actually a really cool flick. Great cast! Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Loved the last time you had Dax Shepard on. I recently listened to the episode when he had you on his podcast. Can't wait to hear what stories he will share this time. So much truth in what DAX said about EGO, DEATH, and nothing being permanent.
Thanks for sharing! Loved this one, too. And man, I loved Hit and Run so much. Your part was so funny. Just such a hilarious film. I hope y’all had a great time making it. I literally watch that movie at least once every month. It’s one of my feel good movies that always boosts my mood.
I can’t change the world around me. I can change me. This is so true.
I love Dax and his podcast. He is so inspirational especially to others who suffer with addition. I am one of those and thank you both for speaking so openly about both of your struggles. It's nice to know anyone can experience this struggle. Thanks Rosie!
Great episode as always ♥️
Man this was a great episode!

Yet again this made me cry! But this also makes me laugh. These podcasts really have affected me. Like how it's all out there.
I want that Gone Squatchin Hat to go with my mug and L.o.L hat! Idk how MR, does this..Dude wakes up energetic doing this for us...#love&respect
Great talk and I loved that they mentioned The Warriors 💪🏽💯
I’m a little shocked that None of your Peers did not know or watch the Ranch. It was an amazing show. Definitely work to be proud of Dax. Also a fan of Parenthood. Great episode!
Another amazing episode Michael 💙👍
Have to agree with Dax.. that Warriors vest is sick! So jelly! Rosey, I feel the same way about late 80's, 90's and hell, even early 2000s. Simpler days, more pure, not jaded or tainted with whatever we have now. And films/tv shows were one of a kind.
Great show like away
Fantastic as always Rosey! I really connect with the idea that if you don't know what gives you self esteem then you're never going to be able to work on it. I SO RELATE (though what Dax is calling self esteem I would call just happiness in general.) It probably wasn't until I was 25 or so that a friend pointed out I didn't seem very happy and it pretty much had never occurred to me that that's something I should want and should work on. I have been SO MUCH happier in my 30s since I got good at that. WIN! (Also makes me have zero desire to put up with other people's bullshit and date more guys who might be a dumpster fire of unhappy -- I don't have time for that yo! But hey, I'll take happy and single over taken and miserable.)
Your podcast is brilliant. I wish I'd discovered it sooner.
Was this recorded before Arm chair expert Day 7? Cuz that episode made me cry. I also had a 10 year oxy addiction, dropped it but still drink every Friday.
This is my first episode and I really enjoyed it. I always forget you were Lex. Lol I remember you more from Impastor. (Short-term memory) Take care!
This is going to be a great episode. I love this guy in Without a Paddle. This movie has good vibes, great actors and good mood. He played a gorgeous ,,Alpha-Male" in Let's go to prison, very funny scenes. 😀😀
I love Dax amazing show!!!!!!!!
When Dax appeared on the Ranch that’s when it got really good. For a show with a laugh track, it’s got some serious real life drama. And I’m not even into the whole “country boy” thing (given I am from Nashville, still not for me) but the show is still very powerful with relevant, real life, family, and cultural issues, that it made me overlook the overall (country boy) premise. And Dax did kill it in his role lol. Thought he was really cool and funny in it. 🙏🏼
Deep stuff guys, thanks 🙂👍👍
Bring back smallville. Loved you as Lex and throw Dax in there too! 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Like a free therapy session! Could listen for hours.
Anybody else forget about Michael Rosenbaum since Urban Legend?
Love the “Gone Squatchin” hat!!!
Chad Kroeger's twin brother 😁😇 Keep em up Rosey! Thank you for this show, already one of my favorites 💙
Gotta admit. Don’t know a lot about Dax’s personal life ( except he is married to Kristen Bell and is friends with my favorite podcaster❤️). Wondering how “deep inside “ Rosey will get😉

Omfg, how have I never heard about this Amazing podcast b4? It's my new go 2 both on YT and on my podcast app that I listen 2 all day at work. Micheal is so funny and personable and the guest line up is incredible with a bunch of my favorite podcasters like Andrew Santinino, Theo Von, Dax Sheppard and Bobbi Lee. Keep it coming Micheal you've just got a new fan, oh and yes I loved Smallville back in the day and Yes, I Loved Lex, although I'm sure he's sick 2 death of hearing it😅😘
I know Michael means about missing the past. It seems like when we were kids back in the 80's we were totally alive and present. There was a security and sense of freedom, that we don't have as adults.😞
