Oh he was fantastic.......Absoultey world class.......to me he's an honorary champion. He bet ex champions with ease, and not long after they were champions......like still in their prime. And not weak champions either. GOOD champions and he just BLASTED them outta there.......did the same to Ruiz. Ya dont ALWAYS need a belt to be considered one of ' those ' guys and hes a good example of that.

Tua vs. Mercer would have been a great fight. Probably the two best heavyweight chins of the last several years. Mercer said in an interview that he knows Tua was strong and didn't want to fight him.

That definitely could've been great - Tyson was certainly a better boxer/mover, but Tua was no slouch, plenty of power and an outrageously good chin. Tua let himself go quite young though, his career (& finances) likely weren't helped by his coach either.

Honestly it was just a great era in boxing. He was unfortunate that the Tyson camps would never match Tyson with tua. And Lennox was in his prime, otherwise tua would have been a champ forsure. Tough to get him decent fights tho no one really wanted that smoke

more like he was suffering from depression after his loss to Chris Byrd a year earlier. The Tua hype had failed in 9 months after his poor performance against Lennox Lewis. The WBO punished him by dropping his rating after his loss to Byrd. Basically his career restarted after Byrd, ratings wise.

It's not a matter of skill if these two fought. The thing is Tyson in his prime had a collection of moves and techniques to get inside a bigger man so he was successful, Tua did not. But if it was Tyson vs Tua then Tyson will simply breakdown, Tua was on par with power and had a unbelievable Chin and endurance (see Tua vs Ibeabuchi). Tyson fell apart against Buster Douglas and Holyfield when it got tough.

George Foreman pretty much ended MMs career 8 years before......

Tua so strong punches.

David Ruiz refused to give him a rematch after winning the belt and Lennox Lewis as usual with all his fights didn't fight Tua until he was coming off a brutal fight and loss to Ibeabuchi.

This fight was more of a testament to Moorer’s lack of heart and determination. He had great skills but an arrogant attitude.

At least he kept him in the ring longer than John Ruiz, that one was actually really rough to watch though - couldn't help but feel bad for the guy getting caught again like that.

When I first heard this fight was coming on I was like wha?!? That’s a 60 second fight. I was proven wrong though - it was a 30 second fight.

Moorer was a natural light heavyweight...but as he moved up he was still a good heavyweight he was a good boxer but the punching power from these bigger guys im sure is a whole different level..thats why guy slike Holyfield and Mooroer and im sure Usyk at soem point will lose...Hoylfield had soem good heavyweight bouts but these guys a naturally smaller..they go to heavy to get challenges...they do well but the punching power is other wordly im sure to these guys...heavyweight boxing is a whole different thing...it can be 20 pounds different 30 pounds it makes a difference more pwoer behind those shots...cruiserweight is up to 199 pounds..tehres a 10 pound window heavyweight doesnt have that window

Right on, Tyson's style was tailor made for Holyfield, and his savage attack forced the best out of Holyfield. Still, it was Holy's insane chin that may have been most important in securing him the Tyson victories. The thing about Moorer's victory over Holyfield though - it wasn't even bonafide, b/c Holyfield, according to the Emory University Hospital, "fought 12 rounds for the heavyweight championship essentially at heart failure". And STILL, it should've been a draw at worst, b/c Roth scored the round 10-10 even though Holy put him on his ass. I was lucky to be there in person for the rematch when Holy beat him half to death. But styles definitely make fights, and Moorer's chin just wasn't durable enough vs. many top-flight heavyweights. Finally, I think Mike is now underrated, he was an elite force and ruled the division as the youngest ever, and also consolidated all 3 belts. There are the Tyson delusionals out there who make excuse after excuse, but once those folks are gone, I find the rest say dumb shit like, "every time someone fought back and wasn't scared, Tyson lost" and other nonsense that isn't true. Tyson is an all-time great Heavyweight, and Holyfield is an all-time great lb for lb fighter.
