Yep, Briggs was lucky to fight a guy who shouldn't have had a belt in the first place and take it. Tua's promoters didn't do him any favors and I guess all the champions ducked him as well.

Tua was ready for a title fight. Right now but Holyfield didn’t give him that opportunity. Holyfield turned Tua down. Everybody knows why

Yup, the timing of it all just didn't work out for Tua. I'll go one more step in saying not only is he one of the best HWs to never hold a title, he's also the hardest puncher to never hold one, because in my opinion he hit just as hard as Shavers did, and Tua's chin was way ahead of Ernie's

Following by George Foreman, Sonny Liston, Wladimir Klitschko (all 3 same power) and Deontay Wilder's right hand. If George Foreman (more the 70's George) put his weights and use more his hipps, i think that he could be the hardest puncher ever. Just see his fight against Jose Roman. He put a bit his weight in his last punch (uppercut) and nearly killed the guy

Those short, piston jackhammer punches...the man was so fckn strong. Pretty underrated obviously. In the convo for hardest punchers ever. Hes kinda in the class of Ike Ibeabuchi. Unbelievable either was undisputed champion. Sad story about Ibeabuchi...but him and Tua were frightening

Tua was ready to destroy Tyson after this one but Tyson was not having a part of it and when you have Don King promoting fights then Tua didn't get a chance to fight for title until 9 years after this fight. Tua is better than all these so called legends, he just didn't have the right connection.

How is that even fair for both guys? Tua was also 245 pounds when he lost To Lennix Lewis. Tyson was past his prime in 2000. The best time for that fight to have happened was in 1996 when Tyson weighed 225 pounds. Tua was also 225 in 1996 when he KO'd John Ruiz but it wasn't going to happen anyway because Tyson had fought Evander Holyfield in 1996. Tyson weighed 218 during the rematch in 1997 but had his license revoked after that fight. David Tua was 228 pounds in 1997. It was never going to happen because of circumstances, not fear or any other B.S. Both guys would have fought anyone at that time.

Tua and Ray Mercer had granite chins. The 90s Heavyweights was a stacked devision.

David Tua has strong physigue and throws even short punches with great force on opponents. He has dynamic movements before the opponent. Further, he does not waste punches in the Ring.

Tua might have the best left hand ever in boxing. Just ferocious power in that hand, whether it be a hook or uppercut.

He was too poor cause you yanks never wanted him fighting for world titles and when he did he took on a roid user which was confirmed yet you guys choose to ignore facts and didn't strip ike. That fight till date has the most punches thrown by HWS (something HWS nowadays don't do cause they run), Tua was also at his prestige weight for fighting and he was also coming off a cold during that fight (don't quote me on that medical check up after fight stated that). Yeah Tua did good against that roid user.

+Youssouf Moussa total tragedy that Ibeabuchi ended up in prison. Tua lost a close decision to Chris Byrd, and guess who knocked out Byrd? Ike Ibeabuchi. Ibeabuchi hit hard, was big and strong and had a good chin. He could have been champion.

I never knew about Ike hearing voices. For sure anyone getting hit by Tua's punches had to rest awhile afterwards. I saw so many of Tua's knockouts. Often the guys had this look on their face like "What just happened? Where am I? What day is it?"

Wilson and Lewis had Legs 🦵 like Chicken against Tua. Mike Tyson won his fights on stability and leg power. Shoulder Power, Lewis and Wilson not in same class like Mike Tyson and David Tua. Tall boxers should keep their opponents at a Distance and they can win fights.
