Frazier was just built the wrong way to fight a guy like Foreman. Frazier was all about the left hook, and that punch took him all the way to the heavyweight title. But he needed to get close to land it, and Foreman simply pushed him away whenever Frazier got in firing range. Unable to mount a serious offense, Frazier became a sitting duck for Big George who used him like a punching bag.

At the time, Ali stated how he would beat Foreman and proceeded to do exactly what he said he would . George’s amazing ability to keep shoving guys in front of him around and backwards, using brute strength as well as an excellent sense of space and timing was an important key to his success, it was almost impossible to escape this man. I still find it a very underrated feat, Tommy Morrison’s game plan in 1993 against Foreman, proving Tommy was a skilled boxer. Only saw Muhammad Ali, Evander Holyfield and Jimmy Young outboxing Foreman in Foreman’s almost 30 y spanning ring career, besides Tommy. But they absorbed a lot of punishment in the process.

A different level of savagery back then. To allow that fight to continue after 3 knockdowns in the 1st.

The key to this fight was the power jab. Joe couldn't land the left hook.

@@markwood8061 I'm a Tyson fan, but Mike loses to old Foreman because his fighting style is a direct counter to his. Cus even said so himself when he was alive. His incredibly strong straight jabs would have been difficult to deal with, and Foreman's chin was cast iron.

@@markwood8061you can see his defence at this video joe frazier was strong and quick too but it was not enough, mike is an overrated balon no win to a big name except old larry holmes at his prime buster douglas smashed him..

@@markwood8061 Evander Holyfield did beat Tyson 2 times and Holyfield could not beat 42 year old Formen while Holyifield was in his prime. Forman went 12 rounds with Holyifield and was in trouble in one round, Holyifield won on points.

Notice how Foreman was pushing Fraizer away to keep.him at range. He doesn't like fraizer getting up close.
