Opened for him in 1990 at a NY Jazz Club. This man was soo underrated. Could write, play, and sing his a** off. He combined a bunch of different tones at once. A little Luther, Al Green, Stevie..etc. Left way too soon :(😇

Well I must admit throughout the years I have grown to really love David's version of this beautiful song. I had the pleasure of seeing David performed this song live some years ago and of course he tore it up. His rendention of this song is in a class of it's own. At 3:11 David knocks that note right out of the ball park. I love how at the end he really jazzes it up and takes it to another level with his scatting. Awesome job! R.I.P. David.

How the song bills from just voice and piano all the way up to the middle when you have the orchestra coming in all the way to the end where you have the horn section coming in when it crescendos to that finale.

A voice as pure and clean as a bell. I'm so glad I found him.
Look up "grossly underrated" & you'll see a picture of this fabulous man.
Thanks so much David. I cry every time I see this and think of your beautiful voice. It's because you're gone and we loved your voice. Can't believe it has been 11 years since your earned your wings
David really did this justice. Respect...and Rest in Peace.
So underrated indeed and such a great talent. Thank God we were blessed with his gift. Rest In Power Mr. Peaston...
Absolutely amazing. Bought this on "Tape" back in 1989. His voice is phenomenal, gives me goosebumps!

David Peaston was Amazing! What a talented family he came from. His mom & sister were also amazing. I followed his career from his trillion wins on Showtime at The Apollo. NO ONE could beat him!
Incredible singer and stage actor. A true hidden gem in the industry. Fabulous song.
Now This is music. The late David Peaston simply delivered a masterful performance and masterpiece. RIP king David because you are truly missed. I know I am not the only one who miss you and your music.
I remember when this song came out I thought how dare he try to sing Can I. I thought no one could touch Eddie Kendrick's version. What nerve of David to think he could take on Can I. R.I.P. David.

This version is an improvement on the original. And that doesn't happen too often. I especially like the instrumental Arrangements. How the song bills from just voice and piano all the way up to the middle when you have the orchestra coming in all the way to the end where you have the horn section coming in when it crescendos to that finale.
